Veranda Fireside Lounge & Restaurant
Inspired by the olive trees, gardens and villas that overlook our 18 hole golf course, making The" Veranda" a place one simply has to experience.
Fresh and modern, Veranda's new menu features California contemporary cuisine. Each dish is carefully constructed by a team of chefs using locally-sourced ingredients and freshly grown herbs from our own garden.
Veranda is the perfect place to meet and enjoy a snack, meal or libation (try our signature bread and Tapenade.....we'll give you the recipe), dine under the stars or gather around the fire with a cocktail or local craft beer . Come and enjoy live entertainment, featuring local artists. You're sure to have an experience to savor.
A wonderful place to have lunch, great food with nice views of the golf course.
Food was spectacular, and the service was exceptional. Was a cold night but the outdoor heaters made it a non-issue. Will return.
The service was excellent and the food was delicious.
it was the perfect setting for our purposes. Our server was gracious without "rushing" our time yet was attentive enough to see if we needed anything.
We spent three hours!!! Sorry if we overstayed but it was delightful.
I wish there were more food options. Steak, more fish, and more dishes overall.
Lovely ambiance with great food. Staff attentive and polite
Lovely ambience and meal. This place never disappoints.
Food was so so
The food was really good. The atmosphere was OK, sitting outside would have been nicer.
Too cool to sit outside but we enjoyed a nice window view. Got a little noisy at times but we never had trouble hearing each other.
Would like to commend our server Emily D who was super!
The Veranda Fireside Lounge is a great place for a quiet meal, very comfortable and pleasantly arranged. The food is excellent. The only reason I do not rate it more highly is because there are very limited vegetarian and NO plant-based menu options. I think in the past they had a more diverse menu. The wine and beer selection is great and we were very well cared for by the staff.
Love everything about this spot! The food, service, ambiance, and live music!
Gorgeous location and ambiance. Went on a weekend and there was live music, but not the kind of loud live music that makes it so you can't hear your dinner companions. It was pleasant and added to the experience. Waiter was knowledgeable, attentive and professional. Food and drinks were delicious. I have celiacs and I found many options that were safe for me, including a creme brulee dessert! :)
We love the ambiance, the music and the delicious food and drinks!
This is a wonderful dining experience much like visiting an old European garden. The food was excellent. Emily was superb. Attentive, professional, quick to fix any "problem". I highly recommend this place particularly for breakfast. Can't find a much better experience eating outdoors.
Normally I would recommend the Veranda as we have been going there for years as we are local neighbors. Unfortunately the service was terrible for our breakfast on January 1. They appeared to be way understaffed; whether due to staff calling in sick after their New Years Eve, or just in general, for an expensive restaurant at an extremely nice resort, they should anticipate this and manage accordingly.
We sat for about 10 minutes before our server walked by telling us she’d “be right with us.” It was another 5-10 minutes before she came back to “get us started with beverages .” Thankfully we ordered our food at the same time as it took nearly 15 minutes to get our beverages. Bottom line: our reservation was for 10:00, and we had our beverages (including coffee) at 10:40. There is no excuse for that.
Then, when we got the bill, they had automatically included an 18% tip for our party of 6. I guess that’s why they weren’t too concerned about the service since they knew they’d get a good gratuity (we typically tip 20-22% so it is just irritating when they slam it in there for a party that’s less than 8 people). We’ve gone to the Veranda many times with large parties (over 10) and have not had the automatic charge.
I will say the server was very nice, and maybe the kitchen was just slow (although the restaurant was maybe half folk - lots of empty tables). But there was no apology and this was the worst service we’ve experienced and we’ve been regulars for 30 years.
We loved our waitress, Vicki. There was an incredibly rude couple seated next us and they were complaining the whole evening. Vicki kept her composure and treated them with respect and never showed any signs of frustration. It was a busy night, the weekend after Christmas, and she went above and beyond to be on top of all her tables and made us feel like VIPs. This was our first time dining here and we plan to return and request Vicki as our waitress.
Overpriced. The food was nothing special. A big ripoff for us on Christmas.
The Rancho Bernardo Inn is a treasure...right in our own back yard. It was one of the few places open for Christmas and I spent most of the day there, first breakfast with out of town friends and then drinks and a bite in the early evening after a movie. Very festive, warm, and memorable....absolutely lovely.
It was an off night for them. My husbands primerib came out cold, they reheated it then it was way overdone. The waiter spilled a cocktail on our table and then they charged us for it. The restaurant was cold. The oven was out so my son couldn’t have his pizza. Drinks and service was beyond slow. For a 280$ meal I expect way better. No manager came to check on us. Just a bad feeling in my mouth. Won’t be back for a while.
Vicki was our waitress and was wonderful. Would come here again.
Beautiful setting. Wonderful service and delicious food. How could you go wrong. Sit outside on the Veranda and watch the golfers and beautiful mountain views.
We asked for a table during the reservation to put us close to the Singer who we knew. Real reason we were going there. We get there and not a place to seat us. They said they would text me when available. Text came in after we got a drink at the bar, about 15 min. We went to the person to seat us and she takes us as far away as possible from the singer. We then asked why? and then she took us over to a table that was open since we got there. Bad listeners. Octopus was exceptional, tuna tar tar not so good. Pork chop was nice and juicy. Food worth going back to but service was not.
The best tacos ever!
The server was knowledgeable about Celiac.
This is seldom so
Had a hearts set on early special dinner after a local ballet; however, nothing online indicated dinner wasn't available until 5pm. So we had to settle on a very limited bar menu - burger and fish sandwiches were good, drinks were excellent but it all paled in comparison to the scallops & other special entres described in the online menu. Please update your online presence to indicate the hours your menus are available and turn on the fireplaces when it is so cool in the winter months. Thank you!
Always a lovely experience for my friends and myself!
We arrived on time at 12:15PM and ordered within 30 minutes. After we were there for an hour we started to realize that our food had not come out. We had to leave for a meeting at 1:40PM. We finally received our food at 1:30PM, scarfed it down and ran out the door to make our meeting. The staff was apologetic..
Lewis is an excellent server!
Beautiful patio dining attentive service. The omelette chef is the best.
A great place to enjoy a meal outdoors.
Crowded loud food was a bit of a miss. Not the usual!
Thanksgiving meal. $400 for 4 people with tip. Ridiculous for a plate of food, salad and small dessert. They charged $16 for a small glass of wine. Service was minimal. Overall, disappointed with a meal that's supposed to be super special.
Excellent experience, especially on Thanksgiving. Food was perfect. Our server, Liz, was lovely, knowledgeable, timely and attentive. The manager and host staff had everything moving like a well oiled machine, especially with the rain storm going outside. They has umbrella stands, and ensured there were no slippery spots from the patrons wet clothing. An overall excellent experience.
We are not fans of the direction that the Veranda dinner menu has taken -- missing some favorite salads, very limited soup choices and sandwiches and entrees have become too "nouvelle and complex". We would prefer that this restaurant move in the direction of grill and comfort type food (e.g. The Grill on the Alley, Bouchon, Nick's) as the hotel property already as another on site restaurant that focuses on "culinary exploration".
Were in Escondido for event, so ate in Veranda Fireside, as Avant is closed Sundays. Service was decent and server was friendly and eager, as well as runners and buss. The appetizers, including Tuna Tartare, were definitely good. Short rib entree was bland, and branzino was thin, overcooked, and weirdly seasoned. wine list had better-than-average glass wines, and cocktails available as well. Manager sent server out to change gas tanks on patio heaters, and no one was told to cover his tables. Would eat there again, but only for a casual bite.
Emily D. and Marcos were our servers and did a fantastic job! The food was excellent and everyone in our group was happy with their meals. They all were eyeing my generous portion of bacon so I shared it.
Food was good and service was excellent.
The Rancho Bernardo Inn is elegant, quiet, beautiful. Veranda Fireside Lounge is a delightful venue. We sat outside to enjoy the fireside ambiance and the live music. The food was excellent, the wine (a moderately priced bottle) was perfect with the food we ordered, and the service was attentive & excellent. Kudos to our server Emily, and also to Ashley, and Isaiah.
