Our second visit was just as good as the first. We happened upon Vera Mae's about a year ago while in town on business. This time we drove 1 hour just to go to Vera Mae's tonight. Our service was great! The food was quite good and cocktails were delicious.
Always good to see Kent and have a bowl of French Onion soup. great experience as ususal
Food was good but my steak was extremely tough, and my friends chicken, though good, was also tough. The sides were not good, and they were cold. The waiter told us they were out of salad, which we intended to order. This was not our usual experience at Vera Mae’s. We will be back for another try.
The menu sounded wonderful...it was not! My husband had chicken with Brie and raspberry sauce. Chicken was dry, one little dry hunk of Brie on top, raspberry sauce was missing in action. I had Coquille St Jacque (sp). It was no where near the dish I remember. There were 4 scallops and the price was $40. Never Again!
Another memorable experience. Owners are top shelf and make you feel like family. Delighted to make this our go to for the next three years while daughter is at BSU! Food outstanding as always.
I enjoyed your restaurant but really didn't like the preparation on the alligator I ordered. The tenderloin was fabulous and bourbon a two-thumbs-up but the alligator was tough and tasteless.
Always great place for a great meal and enjoy surroundings.
Long wait between course, 25 minutes between each.
It is always a pleasurable experience. Wonderful service, food and atmosphere.
This is a wonderful place to have celebratory out of the ordinary gourmet meals. A lot of choice and all of it excellent. We had the ahi appetizer. I had the French onion soup. I had the scallops St. Jacques. Very delicious. A place gourmet chefs would enjoy and try to steal from. All servings adequate in size. Bring an appetite for a marvelous evening. Get a great seating while weather lasts on their outdoor patio seating.
Date night at one of our very favorite restaurants!
Our meal was spectacular and Ben took excellent care of our table.
Outdoor seating was a bit noisy and planted flowers were in my face.
The food and service was great. The red snapper was cooked to perfection. We always get the French onion soup and it was done very good. The spinach and feta wantons didn’t disappoint. We thought a seafood wanton would be interesting to make with spinach and crab. Thank you for a delightful evening.
A very special meal. The best I have had in a long time. We would definitely return for another meal.
This was the worst dining experience I have ever had in my life! I usually like Vera Mae's but this visit was a loser in almost every way, except the food.
If you want a really nice dinner in Muncie and be able to dine in or outside, this is the place to go for sure!
The food was fabulous, adequate social distancing between tables and the owners Kent and Steve were very attentive to every customer whether you were seated inside or out. Like one big family!
Excellent as always!
We had great food and great service. We highly recommend Vera Mae's as a relaxing environment with great ambience.
Sometimes people forget Vera Mae's with a sort of "been there", "done that". It is still an outstanding place to eat!
Love this place! Consistently good food and service!
Vera Mae's is doing an excellent job keeping their customers safe. It is on a very short list of places we are going since re-opening. The food, drinks (I had a cocktail), and ambiance were perfect.
Excellent place to eat. Food is always good and staff is outstanding.
Wonderful to be with family again in relaxed outdoor sitting.
Excellent food and service.
Awesome food and service as always!
My husband and I visit restaurants all over America, similar to the style of Vera Mae’s. We both agreed that the food was below average. We ordered the crab and artichoke dip, it was not worth $13. We would eat LP Steamers crab dip any day of the week in Baltimore, Vera Mae’s was not good. My husband had the peach ribs and I had the roasted chicken. The roasted chicken was VERY oily and had no flavor. Our Brussel sprouts followed us into the next day... and the sweet potato mashed potatoes were just that. We did not see any butter, brown sugar, anything to dress them up. Texas Roadhouse ribs, voted best in 1994, still surpass the quality of Vera Mae’s for half the price. Because of the meal experience, we decided to not try the dessert. We’ll happily pay $30, $50, or up for a plate if the meal is worth it. We are moving to this area, and will not be back.
As always, a fine dining experience. Enjoy the friendly staff, good food, and ambiance. Perfect place to celebrate our anniversary.
Awesome destination dining location in Muncie. Romantic, upscale but relaxed with a little flair and funk. A knowledgable, attentive, and super-friendly service team makes sure the guests have everything they want while keeping it light.
The menu is not extensive but has something for everyone, basics to classics, carnivore to vegan. Portions are huge. The dishes are perfectly prepared and beautifully presented. Daily specials often include fresh seafood that can't easily be gotten in the Midwest.
Prices are very reasonable considering the quality of the food, service, setting, and portion sizes. Expect $100+ for dinner for two with a dessert and drink.
Can't recommend this too much. It's worth the drive!
We sat outside and had some drinks and an appetizer. The crab and artichoke dip was great as were the drinks. Service was great. We split an entree of fried cod and two sides- a twice baked potato and al dente snow pea pods. The potato was not anything special and did not present well. The peas were oily and lacked seasoning. The cod was cooked perfectly and was very tasty- some of the best I’ve had.
Came here for the first time for an anniversary dinner. I had been meaning to stop in several times over the years but honestly wasn't very impressed. The service was great and atmosphere was unique, but the food was subpar for what we paid. We expected a lot more after hearing such good things. Needless to say, the cocktails were great and we will be back for those.
Great experience. We felt safe and well taken care of. Food, especially the potato cake and Brussels spouts, were outstanding. Crab cake was amazing. loved the St. Germaine cocktail.
This place was fabulous! Super friendly and I loved bringing my boyfriend here for his birthday dinner. I highly recommend it to anyone who wants great service, great food, a great atmosphere, and overall a great experience. I don’t usually leave reviews unless I really enjoy a place, so thank you to Vera Mae’s Bistro for being outstanding in every way! :)
Wonderful as always. Love the outdoor dining experience and the owner engagement.
My wife and I celebrated our 48th wedding anniversary with dinner at Vera Mae's. Staff were helpful and accommodating from placing a bouquet of flowers on our table ahead of our reservation to making sure our dining experience was wonderful. Thanks to all.
The service was great, food even better. They posted our picture on their Facebook page which we loved.
Vera Mae's never disappoints! The food is always delicious; and usually there is a menu item that is a bit different, which we like. The servers are experienced and will o ffer suggestions without "taking over your choices." And the two owners are almost always onsite and stop by the table for moments of conversation and discussion. It is just wonderful restaurant.
Better than ever! 20 years of excellent dining, and it just keeps getting better.
