Sometimes people forget Vera Mae's with a sort of "been there", "done that". It is still an outstanding place to eat!
Love this place! Consistently good food and service!
Vera Mae's is doing an excellent job keeping their customers safe. It is on a very short list of places we are going since re-opening. The food, drinks (I had a cocktail), and ambiance were perfect.
Excellent place to eat. Food is always good and staff is outstanding.
Wonderful to be with family again in relaxed outdoor sitting.
Excellent food and service.
Awesome food and service as always!
My husband and I visit restaurants all over America, similar to the style of Vera Mae’s. We both agreed that the food was below average. We ordered the crab and artichoke dip, it was not worth $13. We would eat LP Steamers crab dip any day of the week in Baltimore, Vera Mae’s was not good. My husband had the peach ribs and I had the roasted chicken. The roasted chicken was VERY oily and had no flavor. Our Brussel sprouts followed us into the next day... and the sweet potato mashed potatoes were just that. We did not see any butter, brown sugar, anything to dress them up. Texas Roadhouse ribs, voted best in 1994, still surpass the quality of Vera Mae’s for half the price. Because of the meal experience, we decided to not try the dessert. We’ll happily pay $30, $50, or up for a plate if the meal is worth it. We are moving to this area, and will not be back.
As always, a fine dining experience. Enjoy the friendly staff, good food, and ambiance. Perfect place to celebrate our anniversary.
Awesome destination dining location in Muncie. Romantic, upscale but relaxed with a little flair and funk. A knowledgable, attentive, and super-friendly service team makes sure the guests have everything they want while keeping it light.
The menu is not extensive but has something for everyone, basics to classics, carnivore to vegan. Portions are huge. The dishes are perfectly prepared and beautifully presented. Daily specials often include fresh seafood that can't easily be gotten in the Midwest.
Prices are very reasonable considering the quality of the food, service, setting, and portion sizes. Expect $100+ for dinner for two with a dessert and drink.
Can't recommend this too much. It's worth the drive!
We sat outside and had some drinks and an appetizer. The crab and artichoke dip was great as were the drinks. Service was great. We split an entree of fried cod and two sides- a twice baked potato and al dente snow pea pods. The potato was not anything special and did not present well. The peas were oily and lacked seasoning. The cod was cooked perfectly and was very tasty- some of the best I’ve had.
Came here for the first time for an anniversary dinner. I had been meaning to stop in several times over the years but honestly wasn't very impressed. The service was great and atmosphere was unique, but the food was subpar for what we paid. We expected a lot more after hearing such good things. Needless to say, the cocktails were great and we will be back for those.
Great experience. We felt safe and well taken care of. Food, especially the potato cake and Brussels spouts, were outstanding. Crab cake was amazing. loved the St. Germaine cocktail.
This place was fabulous! Super friendly and I loved bringing my boyfriend here for his birthday dinner. I highly recommend it to anyone who wants great service, great food, a great atmosphere, and overall a great experience. I don’t usually leave reviews unless I really enjoy a place, so thank you to Vera Mae’s Bistro for being outstanding in every way! :)
Wonderful as always. Love the outdoor dining experience and the owner engagement.
My wife and I celebrated our 48th wedding anniversary with dinner at Vera Mae's. Staff were helpful and accommodating from placing a bouquet of flowers on our table ahead of our reservation to making sure our dining experience was wonderful. Thanks to all.
The service was great, food even better. They posted our picture on their Facebook page which we loved.
Vera Mae's never disappoints! The food is always delicious; and usually there is a menu item that is a bit different, which we like. The servers are experienced and will o ffer suggestions without "taking over your choices." And the two owners are almost always onsite and stop by the table for moments of conversation and discussion. It is just wonderful restaurant.
Better than ever! 20 years of excellent dining, and it just keeps getting better.
Great food and service that night. Thanks for hosting our visitors!
Diver scallops and the bucatini were to die for. A couple of glasses of The Big Easy and life is good. Stacy is a super server.
The food was excellent and the servers were very attentive. We sat in the bar and the music was great.
We love the atmosphere , the service is good , all of us had different dinners and they were all excellent , my husband loves the French onion soup !! we used the open table seating and everything worked out great :)
The Ahi Tuna appetizer was overcooked, tasted strange, and the presentation was sloppy. Those who ordered cod had uneven portion sizes and the fish was dried out and the breading overdone. The chicken dishes were all dried out. There was live music, which was too loud to have a conversation with others at the table. We usually enjoy Vera Mae’s, but this experience was miserable.
Vera Mae's is where we ALWAYS take out of town guests for fine dining in Muncie. The food is consistent, high quality and the service is bar none - the BEST in the area.
Owners are present and always stop by the table to thank us for dining and meet our guests.
Our favorite thing to do is have a guest order the French Onion Soup and be so surprised when they get SCISSORS to cut with:)
Our favorite bartender in the area is also on staff and practically has our drink waiting for us when we arrive.
We are very fortunate to have this gem of a restaurant in our town.
Everything was excellent but the food ordering process was rather slow. We were all really hungry and the waiter was taking his good old sweet time.
Great place to celebrate! Food, service, and atmosphere were awesome!
The sea bass was perfect, a golden brown crust with incredibly juicy and tender meat inside. The pork chop was equally lovely, bright cider tones with tender, juicy (not over cooked) meat. The evening was enlivened by a nearby table for whom nothing was good. They split a salad, chicken, and a creme brulee. The gentleman finished everything set before him while the woman complained at every course, then demanded their check be comped. If they've written a review anywhere else, it's not accurate.
We always enjoy our visits to Vera Mae's. Friendly staff, relaxed atmosphere, great food, really good wine! It will remain our go-to "fancy" place in Muncie. :)
Our top choice for gourmet dining in the Muncie area.
All the courses were very tasty! Staff was friendly and prompt on courses and drink orders. Only complaint was checking in. Stood at the door for at least five minutes, finally had to tell an employee we had a reservation.
I realize it was a limited menu for Valentine’s Day but it would’ve nice to have an option for those that don’t like sweet potatoes
Always the best place to eat and meet!! Kent and Steve are the best!!
Great service. Friendly staff. Table was ready. Water glass was always full. Food was a ten.
Fantastic as usual,
Celebrated our wedding anniversary with french onion soup, spinach and feta wontons. Delicious
Our go-to places for special occasions. The setting is cozy and romantic, but still fun and not fussy.
The service team is absolutely first-class: friendly, attentive, not never overly so.
The menu is not overly large but features a great mix of simple, comfort-oriented dishes as well as artfully composed high-end entrees. The wine list is extensive.
It would be easy to make a meal of drinks, small plates, and dessert, but a full four-course meal is quite the experience!
Came to Muncie for relaxing weekend. Had checked trip advisor prior to arrival . So glad we did it was a wonderful experience.
Extremely helpful staff - great suggestions from appetizers to dessert.
Try Cajun nacho’s very tasty.
The French Onion soup is a must - absolutely the best I’ve ever had.
Raspberry chicken was fantastic the Brussels sprouts were awesome.
Too full to eat dessert but they looked fabulous.
You won’t go wrong having dinner here.
Arrived in time. My profile states my gluten sensitivity. Many of the side dishes that accompanied the protein selection contained gluten an d the waiter knew that. . I asked if I could substitute to mashed potatoes. I was told NO, they would not have enough for the other customers. Really? They are freaking potatoes. Buy an extra bag, boll them, mash with butter and milk. What’s the problem?? So I paid $40 for 5 scallops and a slice of butternut squash. Terribly disappointed. Do not think I shall be returning.
