Veladora. Where coast meets ranch. Where sun dappled afternoons fade into lantern lit evenings. And where all things fresh, handcrafted and simply delicious reside.
Rancho Valencia's captivating signature restaurant serves Coastal Ranch cuisine for breakfast, lunch and dinner in a stunning modern hacienda setting.
An extensive wine menu of over 600 selected wines is on hand for sipping and savoring, as well as a welcoming private wine room featuring our rarest bottles for the most special of occasions.
The culinary team's farm-to-table philosophy is infused throughout Veladora's program, featuring local produce and herbs, flowers and honey cultivated and foraged right on property.
We love this restaurant. One of the better or best meals in North County. Really delicious and perfectly prepared food. First class ingredients and beautifully plated. Superior and knowledgeable wait staff. Ambiance is wonderful too. Beautiful dining room that is cozy and chic.
We love Veladora, this time though the food had some flaws
Iberico Tartare - High End Pork Tartare, still pork, I was experimental, but the meat was one thing, the tartare was real junky pieces and it was hardly spiced at all which made it hard to eat
Main Dish, Veal Tenderloins - great meat - well prepared - unfortunately the meat was on 4 pcs of pasta and they were just NOT DONE - should not happen...
I mark it under - Chef had a bad day...
Maybe try not to be tooo experimental and focus on perfection instead...
First time at Veladora and we loved the elegant yet casual setting. Our server was phenomenal-very knowledgeable and hilarious. She made the dinner experience all the more wonderful. If memory serves me, I think her name was Nicole.
Food was beautifully prepared and the presentation was photo ready. I had the farm salad, and the Amish Veal, and the Brown Butter Pear cake. Hubby had the Ibérico Tartare and the scallops. Our friends had the 63 degree egg and the Octopus for appetizer and the pasta with oyster mushrooms and the veal.
It is pricey and food portions are more in line with Europe and other fine dining experiences, but the quality and everything else make this splurge worthwhile.
Always a pleasure and delicious, regardless of the meal or occasion.
Beautiful restaurant with excellent food and service in the wonderful Rancho Valencho Resort. A great experience.
Waiter kept up-selling. Waiter charged wrong amounts then told me I was wrong.
Chad was outstanding
Loud patron talked incessantly
One of our favorite restaurants in all of San Diego! Amazing gourmet one of a kind entrees. Impeccable service. And warm and cozy. Very romantic! Did I say amazing food!?
Excellent service and staff was awesome!! Food quality was amazing and the desserts are to die for. Will use this sport for more lunch hosting.
Our favorite restaurant for fine dining. The food is always incredible and the service is always outstanding. I had the Dover sole which practically melted in my mouth- it was devine. My husband had the duck breast and the preparation was fabulous. The atmosphere is lovely and all of the wait staff are attentive and professional but not stuffy or pushy. We can’t say enough about Veladora. No wonder it gets such high ratings! It deserves it!
Every aspect was spectacular...exceeded expectations as you always do! My wife thoroughly enjoyed her birthday. Staff was exceptional!
Best filet I’ve ever had!
Beautiful setting and quiet. While the food is well presented, portions are spare. Service can sometimes be slow.
Celebrated a friends birthday. Enjoyed our lunch. Wish there were more gluten-free option.
Great food, service and atmosphere. We eat regularly here. One thing to keep in mind is that service can be really slow on busy nights especially when there is private parties happening and the pony room is busy
Service was abominable but the food was fantastic! From the moment we sat down, service was poor. We had to signal to our server to order wine and then again to order appetizers. She was not helpful with any menu suggestions. Once ordered appetizers took nearly 45 min and entrees another hour. We were at your table for 2.5 hours. We all thoroughly enjoyed the entrees- chicken, salmon, filet, pasta, and tortellini but the portions are very very small- the tortellini was 2 bites.
Food was delicious, service very good. Decorations for holidays beautiful.
Always a pleasure at Veladora. Food and service both great.
Service, ambiance to the cuisine and location are all amazing. If you haven't been you MUST. If you are looking for the same energy and amazing bites you can also try their bar, casual restaurant Pony Room. Will NOT be disappointed.
It was my second time for lunch at Veladora. The restaurant is so beautiful I wish I could live there. It has the feel of a Spanish hacienda, and is casually luxurious. It was beautifully decorated for Christmas. There were 4 of us. My 3 friends had the quiche Lorraine and I had the seafood Louie salad. Everything was well prepared, although nothing truly outstanding. The chocolate layer cake with butterscotch sauce is wonderful. We all shared one piece and there was enough to take home to one of the husbands. Service is friendly and unpretentious. I had the Campari Love cocktail...Wow! Delicious. I'd love to go there for dinner sometime. Highly recommended.
Very enjoyable evening. Inpressive wines by the glass program.
The atmosphere was beautiful as always but for the second time we had a poor meal that was served an hour after our salads were served. The meal was awful and very expensive. We had guests in from out of town and were simply embarrassed. It was so bad that they commented on how poor the food was. We had to go get burgers after leaving veladora. Improvement is desperately needed if they want to keep their clientele.
Always one of my favorites. Service and food are always superb!
Possibly one of the best food presentations I've seen from a superb chef, great food and ambiance. We had the veal & the filet mignon, both were other worldly dishes flavor and presentation wise. Great appetizers too, octopus & asian pear salad were absolutely delicious. The only thing that matches the food quality is the attentiveness and courtesy of the staff. I am certain I will be back.
Veladora is one of our favorites, which has never disappointed. The menu always covers a wide enough array to make anyone in the group happy.
The service is consistently the best anywhere in the world.
And we must mention it is fantastic to start with a drink in the Pony Room.
There were two of us and both our meal choices were very poor. The breakfast tacos were stale and filled mostly with potato. My farro bowl with chicken was completely tasteless.
Service is always bad there.
The menu shown on open table website is not current. Food was good but a couple of items we would have ordered were not on the menu anymore.
My husband and I celebrated my birthday here last night and it was excellent. The food was prepared with such creativity and the ingredients were outstanding. The restaurant itself is beautiful, and it was quiet enough to talk and enjoy the night; but not too quiet that it felt unfestive. We will definitely go back. The resort also looks fantastic, and would make a great place for a staycation. Cheers to Veladora!
We visited Veladora for the 4th time in the last 2 years. It was superb the first time and was even better on our recent visit. We live in Michigan and visit SoCal twice a year. Veladora will stay on our “ must go” list.
Excellent food, wonderful service, extensive wine list, and lovely dining venue.
Best Service! Luis is Always pleasant, courteous and provides the best service. Never disappointed!
Food is very average bordering on poor, service is good, decor ordinary but price is as high as other truly great restaurants in the area, so with the same cost I would definitely go elsewhere.
The filet was by far the best steak I've ever had. All around fantastic experience.
Great food, as always. Beautiful surroundings. Our server, Steven, was particularly attentive. We live thirty miles away, and still consider this a new favorite spot.
Gorgeous restaurant. Service was spot-on. Lunch was delicious. Will go here again! Perfect spot for date night, lunch with girls etc.
The value for the experience was not there. The entree portions were appetizer sized. They brought out 2 bread rolls for 6 people. Very disappointed.
We ordered a dozen oysters and as we shared 6 each we realized we were given only 11. The waiter immediately brought an other oyster on a separate ice plate with the sauces. Our dinner was delicious , I had salmon and my husband had the tortellini. I was a little disappointed in the choices for fish as there was only Salmon and Dover Sole @ $60 . Wine by the glass was excellent to pair with our entree. We used our Open Table reward which helped the cost but the next day they called me to say they couldn't process the card so they charged us he full amount. Fortunately Open table said they just didn't know how to process it and didn't follow the instructions as they were to call Open table. Open table will take care if it for us.
Great menu! Love the corn soup and tortellini!
