Food was great. It was our first time to starting out with “tapas” style sushi and sashimi. Matt our waiter made excellent choices for us.

I have been to Uchi a few times for special occasions and I have NEVER been disappointed. The food and service is excellent. Our server, Rihana, went above and beyond to make our experience amazing. And the food is always fresh, creative and delicious!

This was our second time. We were hoping for a similar experience as our first time, but were sorely disappointed. The food was just okay, flavors were simple and not as impressive as the first time. The service was very lacking this time; the table next to us got more service than we did with the same waitress. The courses for the tasting menu came out two at a time. So one would cool down or heat up as the first was eaten. There must have been a miscommunication between the server and us as well since only one of us was having the tasting menu. On our first visit we had a tasting menu for one. Overall, a poor experience based on customer service, price, and taste. Sadly, we won't be returning.

The food was excellent, quite small portions for the price. This restaurant is very overpriced and rated to high for what you received in comparison to what little food you got!

First time there & first time to eat brussel sprouts. They were close your eyes good! I suggest it as an appetizer. We will be back!

I'm from California and almost any random sushi place there is better than this. But this WAS the best Sushi I've found in Houston :/

Mostly just sushimi, only one real sushi roll available, most of menu is actually hot meals and Western options like a ham and eggs roll... Really? What little fish I could get was good, but at roughly $3.50 to $5.00 per slice I managed to walk away starving and still spend $80. If that doesn't scare you off, then this is the place for you, because everything else about it was just fantastic.

Excellent dinning experience. The brussel sprouts, salmon belly, and short ribs were excellent. One of the best dinning experiences I have ever had.

This restaurant is a beautiful one with excellent quality food and a cool atmosphere. I will definitely be enjoying it again. The food quality, especially the fish is phenomenal and the meals/dishes overall are innovative and creative. The only downsides were being seated late despite a reservation (and being asked to be on time) and a little miscommunication with the server when bringing out meals. It’s a share style food and the server offered to bring out dishes that fit our liking (i.e. bring one or two and then move in the direction of what you like). I enjoy this idea, but think increased communication was vital to making it more successful for my party. Overall, minimal downsides and a beautiful restaurant! Can’t wait to go again.

This is our favorite restaurant in the Montrose area - we eat here at least once a month and I always bring friends and work colleagues here. Anthony takes care of us every time - his friendly attitude, awesome customer service and attention to detail make our dining experience wonderful. Everyone at this restaurant is pleasant and friendly - the customer service is outstanding. Cannot recommend enough.

Sauces were so light and flavorful. You will not need or want soy sauce on any of this. A bit pricey though for tasting size portions.

My experience was perfect! My friends and I ordered a variety of things off the menu and we all agreed every single dish amazed us. So fresh and flavorful!! I went in starving and left feeling satisfied and impressed. Never thought I would love a place that serves small plates THIS much.

I recently held a business meeting with some guys from out of town and they wanted some amazing sushi. At the end of our dinner at Uchi they told me it was the best dinner they'd ever had (and I've taken these guys to sushi places all over the US). Our service was top notch and my husband and I even compared the experience to one we had at Jan, a 2 Michelin star restaurant in Niece, France. Outstanding!!!!

Book your table for Sake Social Hour and prepare to have a life altering experience. Flavors that don't make sense together are suddenly perfect together. Egg plant and lemon curd? Um. Okay! Almonds and himachi (machi cure)? Sure! It only gets more complex and amazing from there. The staff know exactly what they serve, so feel free to ask all the questions. Don't leave without trying the Walu Walu. You won't regret it. PS: unfiltered Sake is $3 during the Sake hour.

Best sushi experience I’ve had. Our group of 4 ordered the chef’s choice and so didn’t have to select anything (though you can tell them foods you don’t eat and foods you especially like)- plate after plate of beautiful, novel and delicious sushi, nigiri, sashimi and more... rather pricey but worth it for a special occasion. Valet parking was a bonus. Definitely make reservations.
