What Insiders Are Saying
Toca Madera, a healthy Mexican restaurant on a trendy stretch of W 3rd Street, is the place to go if you want a scene but you also want decent food.
We had a reservation at 7:00 pm. There was a major roll- over accident on the canyon and I called the restaurant to let them know that we might be running 5-7 minutes late. She said it was not a problem and would give us an extra 15 minutes. We got there at 7:05pm and she said that we were late and gave us a tiny table for 2 (we were 4). It was right under the air conditioning unit and it kept on dripping water in us! We asked if they could change our table and despite the fact that there was plenty of tables available, she said no! Till the minute we were there (9:20pm) the tables were empty! Horrible experience! Never coming back nor am I referring it to anyone! Waste of $200 to come to celebrate my birthday!
this place is honestly great and perfect for any occasion. the menu has a side where it gives you options that aren’t that big just incase your appetite isn’t there but if it is don’t worry they also have big plates for you to feast on. The environment was great and inside is beautiful. definitely coming back!
Ryan was fantastic. But love coming here.
It was a lovely place. Waitresses were very nice and also very attentive and will definitely come back since I enjoyed eating there for my first time. The waitress from England was especially nice so she should get a promotion or something. Anyways loved the food and service and ambiance and will be back sometime for sure.
Amazing food, incredible mixed drinks and fantastic staff that was there to serve at every moment.
Really enjoyed my visit. I ended up trying two appetizers and both were good. The guacamole was especially delicious. Most impressive was the staff--everyone I dealt with was friendly and attentive. Will return with a group.
Overall the expensive is way too expensive for the quality of the food. It was very medicore, and the prices are just not worth it. I would reccomend Happy hour over anything else.
Lovely brunch, music and cocktails
The ambiance is great. I was there celebrating my 25th bday and it was great. I loved the strawberry tres leches cake.
The bar was loud and hopping. Ladies dressed far better than the men. The back dining room was quieter, cool and soothing. It took a bit for the waiter to arrive, but he was engaging and observant. The ceviche was good, but not spectacular. The beef barbacoa mole enchiladas were nothing special. The corn side dish was quite good. In other words, meh.
We were offered 2 different menus.
The issue resolved quickly.
Tocos were served “cold”. But replaced reasonably promptly.
Service was first class.
Nice and amazing place to hangout with friends while having delicious Mexican fusion meal!!
Expected much more from this place. It was very busy and packed. Noisy and couldn't not hear my boyfriend speak. We had to yell at each other. Servers were slow and couldn't even recommend anything as she wasn't sure what was good.
Service was slow and the food was not great at all. We would've stayed and spent more money but we couldn't even enjoy our first time at Toca. Unfortunately, we will not be returning.
Love this spot!! We were late and still were seated in a short amount of time!!
Amazing atmosphere! Very beautiful inside the restaurant. The food is a little over priced but I recommend you come in for happy hour or on Taco Tuesday. The hand crafted cocktails are strong and delicious. Will definitely be coming back here.
We had a reservation for 9PM, we got our table at 10PM
The food was ok , beside the Guacamole, nothing too specials.
If you are on the main room, it is very noisy
So happy I chose this restaurant for the one night I was in LA. The place is beautiful and had great energy. Waitress was really friendly and helpful with menu selections. The food was even better than I imagined and the drinks were delicious. I would definitely recommend this spot to anyone looking for a classy cool dining experience.
Very cool vibe. Amazing food. Just a bit loud for conversation as they have a DJ spinning
The food is good - would recommend the shrimp and the chicken tacos. The atmosphere is really lively. Went midweek and it was crowded and loud. The drinks are overpriced - $14 for an average glass of Sauvignon blanc. This place has a fun vibe though and is great for a group of friends but maybe not a first date when you want to hear someone talk.
Always love Toca Madera. Hope they never stop playing the house tunes.
This place is always a good pick!
Super nice restaurant with great staff. There are enough food options to have a good variety, while not being overwhelmed.
Loud and live DJ!
Crowded but fun
Food was Ok not great
Had one order of tacos come out ice cold then re made twice after and were still room temp. The server was very apologetic but very disappointing as every other experience at toca has been great. Not a place for groups.
This was some ot the best food I have ever had, the problem is all our apps. and main dishes came at one time. There was no opportunity to appreciate the courses.
Terrible customer service. Was sat down 20 minutes late. No server was assigned to the table no menus. Had to go find a server to order . They got the order wrong. Then said the kitchen was close. Afterwards the lady took my Bill and cash. But never brought back my change.
Best experience ever for my boyfriends birthday!! Toca has amazing service and great experience all around :) thank you!
Very cool place! Great vibe and really great food!
Great food and terrific customer service!
One of the best Mexican places I've ever had. So much fun, amazing ambience. Just all around awesome!
First trip to LA! Amazing food and atmosphere!
The vibe and atmosphere was amazing. Despite it being a Monday there was a DJ and it was relatively packed. The food was alright, we got the verde ceviche which was way too lemony for me (however my friend loved it) and then the tacos which were subpar. The sweetcorn was phenomenal however. Definitely would recommend as the restaurant is beautiful and the music amazing, however do not go there expecting incredible food.
Very fun and vibrant autmisphere. Live DJ spinning sets the mood. Although I didn’t think food or service were great, the drinks were yummy and the place super sexy. I will certainly go back on a Friday/Saturday night.
The back patio was beautiful! We had a great time.
Hubs and I are regulars. Great date night location. Good food, good vibes, good drinks. Definitely worth it.
Service, food and atmosphere was phenomenal. I definitely recommend this restaurant.
The design and deco is amazing. The food (we ate the hot rocks was fine). It was definitely noisy though, my suggestion is to sit at the back. The waitress we had was fabulous, she was ultra nice, not pushy and even allowed us to move tables. Had a good evening.
It was fantastic. The food was amazing. The service was great! I can’t wait to go back. The street corn was phenomenal!
From the exterior reminiscent of an after hours club or speakeasy. Once inside a fun space with front and rear dining (rear on two levels). The scene fun and energetic. The food very, very impressive; Mexican with a sense of modernity. Varied menu, many items perfect for sharing. Strong beer and cocktail choices. Some of the best chips and salsa in LA. Excellent service, attentive and informative. One issue could use more time between courses to facilitate conversation and enjoyment of the surroundings. In in WeHo on 3rd or shopping in the area make a point to visit. From the exterior looks closed, the party is inside.
the music was really high and then was turning even higher not a place for dinning experience. Also took forever to order convinced our waitress had forgotten about us.
