My favorite place in La Jolla. Did not disappoint.
Service was terrific! The food was really yummy! The tables were well spaced. The heaters for our outdoor dining experience made the weather “perfect”. All staff were very helpful and kind. Our wait staff was fantastic! Tuna wontons- crispy wontons and tasty tuna. The black mussel steamers were off the chain!! One person had the ravioli and said it was really good and another had the swordfish and said it was meaty and tender the flavors were great! Watch out for the Mud pie—- it is big!! And we ate every bite—delicious!! I have nothing to suggest for improvement-for us it was an amazing experience! Will return & may even give the hotel a try in the future😉
Great food ,The swordfish was very good and well cooked.Kelly the server was very nice and attentive. Nice and clean table are.
Great views, slow service.
Food was not good. Place is nice and service was wonderful.
The view was amazing! Our waitress was very helpful and had good recommendations. We would definitely return.
Our experience was that of falling into a Black Hole in an episode of the Twilight Zone....Made a reservation and were seated early in a prime view spot in the bar. A bartender came over to us and would be our waiter. Took our order (didn't write anything down) and brought our drinks. 20 minutes later came over just to say that our order was coming right out. We observed many diners who had arrived after us being served their meals. 20 minutes after that I approached the bar and our "waiter" greeted me with "We lost your ticket, but your food is being prepared now, and the manager will come over in a minute". 10 minutes later the manager came over and said that our ticket had been lost but our meals would be absolutely served to us in "5 minutes!" and our meals would be free....15 minutes after that a hostess that we had never seen before came over and said "are you still waiting for your food? Didn't you order the.....?" As she was still helpfully babbling we decided to escape and have our Thanksgiving meal at Denny's, where we were treated to excellent service and our meal served to us 7 minutes after ordering....So a 5 star rating to Denny's and a $20 tip!
There was 6 of us and we all enjoyed our meals. The tuna wonton was especially good.
The service was exceptional. Food was wonderful. Loved the tuna wontons. They even did a brownie dessert for our Anniversary. Thank you! We will be back
John made our dinner special! Thank you
Wonderful view of the ocean and sunset. Love watching the frisbee players on the beach. New menu item, lobster pot pie. Mmmm
I celebrated my birthday with a few of my closest girlfriends and enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere. The sound of the ocean waves while eating, drinking, and having great conversations was so nice. The food was amazing, especially the black muscles steamers and the bread with it!
Your restaurant is getting better. Please keep it going. We neede a good restaurant like The Shores
The view is spectacular. Service top notch. The food was delicious and perfect portions.
Great fish and chips, awesome place to see the sun set over the coast.
Brunch/Lunch on a Sunday. menu isn't really brunch (no eggs or such) but our table had a poke bowl, turkey cobb and turkey pot pie. bread is extra $. nice bloody mary. and how can you top that ocean view? parking validated for 90 minutes and you just want to linger.
Very friendly server. The fish tacos and avocado flatbread were great! Cannot beat the gorgeous setting. We are (almost!) regulars here now!
food was great. Shared 2 apps which were excellent - tuna and mussels
all 3 of our main courses were very good as well
best thing was although short staffed, we were waited on by a team of 3 or 4 and very pleased with the service.
only negative was no wine list...good wines, but not a large selection.
Had the mushroom ravioli, which was delicious.
Staff is very attentive and on time with requests.
Nice ambiance with great views. Can be a little noisy from hotel guests with kids also dining here.
Server could have been more knowledgeable about how food was prepared. I had a vey good dirty martini.
Fantastic place to have dinner! Would recommend dinning during a sunset.
Sat outside on the lawn with the beach right in front of us. Great service from John and the food was fresh and flavorful.
Jesse was our server and was great. Beautiful view of the sunset from our table. Wedge salad was delicious. Tuna wontons were so good. Would definitely go back.
The food was delicious , but the staff needs 10 stars. We reserves for 8, but as more people arrived from the east coast and noon was late for east coast time ( already 3 pm), Suzana was our server and with a smile ad grace helped us fit 4 more people in, even though there were no more tables. The beach and ocean view are fabulous, it is Suzana who made it work!
Ordered the swordfish. Great food and service. Can’t beat the view.
Food is C+/B- . The view is amazing and makes it just about worth it but don’t expect an amazing meal or great service.
The food was PHENOMENAL. I had the fish tacos and they were absolutely delicious. The quality of food was amazing and we were able to watch the sunset on the beach from our booth inside! Definitely a place you have to check out at least once. I’ll definitely be back!
I loved the view the restaurant was pretty empty and there weren’t many families. It had an older crowd but everyone was extremely
Friendly. The cocktails were delicious, food was amazing and everything came out quickly. We would not only eat here again but we would probably stay at this hotel.
Sat at an outside patio table on a cool, windy day but sunny day. The service was friendly, quick, and followed up as one would expect.
I had a chicken salad, which was tasty and well prepared.
Overall great experience for a Monday afternoon lunch with friends from out of town. The location is one of the best in La Jolla, San Diego.
We showed for our 7:30 Rez and the ambiance was bright lighting and it was very loud. It was hard to see the ocean view due to the glare from the bright interior lighting. Not quite what we expected but whatever. The restaurant was only about 30% full and yet they agonized over where they could seat us. Our server showed up within 15 seconds of us being seated and wanted a drink and appetizer order. We ordered a bottle of wine. A minute later she was back and wanted an order for appetizers. It seemed a bit rushed so we asked for a bit more time. We got another 3 minutes and she was back. Hmmm… we ordered an appetizer just to get some space. 3 minutes later she is back for a food order. We are starting to get a bit bugged by this and asked for more time. 3 minutes later and she is back. We gave her a firm no and said we wanted to take our time. We haven’t even seen our appetizer yet. Within another 3 minutes the manager comes by and tells us that we need to order as the kitchen is closing in a few minutes. This is a little after 8:00 PM on a Saturday night!!! WTF? So we order and receive our entrees and unwanted appetizer all at the same time shortly after. By 8:30 the staff is running around cleaning and making it uncomfortable enough that most tables leave. By 8:45 we had enough and threw our food in to go boxes and asked for a wine cork on our mostly un-drank bottle of wine. It was apparently not available. $150 for this crap experience and another $20 to get out of the parking lot. No idea why they were closing so early on a Saturday night and definitely no idea why they would take a 7:30 reservation and not tell you when you are seated that you only have a few minutes.
Excellent food with a great view!!!
Food was not up to par
The entrée was the wild mushroom stuffed ravioli, and they were not fresh, the outside shell was tough, and the greens were soggy! We had to ask for complementary sourdough rolls which they did not have, so they gave us sourdough toast! Then we also had to remind them that this was a birthday celebration! Very poor communication!
Waiter spilled water all behind us and never brought us the salad we ordered. They charged us the wrong amount and food was just ok. Great view. This place needs a make over for sure.
Wouldn’t go back.
Service was good but the food was not. Even if it had been good, it was grossly overpriced.
So good! Loved my mushroom ravioli! Amazing view of the La Jolla Shores beach. A very special treat!
We had a great dinner
Great service, amazing food! We ask our server about validating our parking ticket, so he advised no problem he work take care it and took our ticket when we paid the bill. He returned with the closing bill and our parking ticket and thanked us for visiting The Shores. As we attempted to leave the underground parking area the gate meter read $10 due for parking. Since we were at the restaurant for less than 2 hours, parking was suppose to be free. Needless to say instead of going back upstairs and inside the restaurant to address the matter, we just paid the fee and went on our way.
It was my family’s first time eating here and overall the food was tasty and was priced just right. I especially loved the dessert options that we picked 🤤
