We went for Happy Hour, 2 to 5 pm on a Thursday. Not crowded, nice view. As each in our party of 4 ordered our drinks, we told, "oh, I am sorry, that beverage (that mixed drink, that beer, that wine) is NOT included in our Happy Hour specials." We of course stayed, had a pleasant meal, BUT PAID FULL PRICE on every drink, every appetizer, and every entre we ordered. So much for Happy Hour at La Jolla Shores.
The restaurant had a nice outdoor space. The service was excellent and the food was good.
Great! With great views and excellent food
For mothers day they sat us farthest away from the ocean view and instead next to the pool with screaming kids. We asked to change seats and they said no even though the restaurant was more than half empty. The server was great but the food was decent at best and way to expensive for a burger. The inside is old but understandly since the view is amazing.
The experience was so friendly and nice! I felt positivity!
Great food- fantastic service with Jesse.Nice Mother’s Day Lunch.
The views from the restaurant are great. Staff was attentive and very professional. The food was ok. Finding a park was a challenge. As for the esthetics of restaurant there needs to be some updates but overall I would recommend The Shores.
Great place for a date or family dinner, can't beat the view!
You can't beat the view of this restaurant. It is so relaxing to watch everyone playing in the ocean while having brunch. I don't know why it took us so long to find this place but we will definitely be back.
My friend and I had a lovely lunch on the patio, felt well protected and enjoyed a delicious power green salad, per the waitress's recommendation. I ordered ice tea, but they didn't have it yet, so I got hot tea, and the waitress showed up with a glass of ice tea a little while later. I was well lubricated and only charged for one. Great service!
great services and great staff stay there too and had great time 10 stars
Outstanding Happy Hour Sunset Reunion
I visited The Shores Restaurant around 6:30 and enjoyed a stunning La Jolla sunset from the dining room, where only one other indoor table was occupied. The current menu is the same for lunch and dinner--light snacks and bar food. But the proportions are ample, the presentations lovely and the the food tasty. I'm giving 4 stars since my husband complained the chicken sandwich didn't have much flavor. Apparently it tasted like chicken! I LOVE the ahi tuna tacos appetizer and left stuffed. We witnessed a memorial sunset "paddle out" on the beach in front of us, while dolphins frolicked in the surf. The setting, atmosphere and food were perfect for the first evening out in a year.
Burger was wrong type. Everyone was very nice but for 90 dollars was not worth it as the patio felt unwelcoming.
The view was very nice and you pay for it. The service was indifferent, at best. The food was pretty good, for lunch fare. The prices were high, but its a tourist place and you're paying for the view. For example, I was surprised that my second cup of coffee was an additional charge. It was a decent place to bring the out of town folks for the La Jolla beachside view.
We loved the mussels! The beach view was fun too! Dated decor but great food for the price. We’ll go again!
What a wonderful place to eat! This was my first outing after COVID shutdown. They need to update their website as we had switched reservation twice due to inclement weather when, in fact, they were taking in restaurant patrons. Service was a bit slower than before, but it gave us more time to talk. However, they should extend their parking validation then. We will be returning to our monthly outings, so will be seeing The Shores often again!
Thanks for a GREAT meal! The fries are probably the best I've eaten and the Avo Turkey club is so very tasty! My sister in law had the salmon flatbread and loved it as well. I don't think you can go wrong here!
Very disappointed dining at the Shores restaurant. We are not from La Jolla so we took a shot in the dark as to where to have dinner. The food was mediocre at best and very overpriced. I had a Caesar salad (which was $17) and added a shrimp protein for $7.00 and the shrimps were inedible. Just an overall bad meal that wasn’t cheap. The plus side however, the service was good.
It was a lovely lunch. The service was excellent.
We had a great sunset dinner at The Shores. The service was very attentive and accommodating. Loved the Flat Iron Steak and the Mussels appetizer was delicious. Would totally recommend and will go again.
Has spectacular beach and ocean views. If you haven't been it's a real surprise.
Great steak w/ chimichuri, good food, good service and great views!
Every table has a great ocean view and the food are delicious. We would definitely come again.
Great views and service!
The view was amazing. The food wasn’t anything spectacular, unfortunately, but it photographed nicely! The lobster, crab and shrimp dip was cold! Like ice cold and purposeful. It should be called a seafood salad. It was good, but shocking at first bite.
This was a delightful dining experience. All of the staff were welcoming and friendly. I highly recommend one of their intimate booths with an elevated view of the oceanfront. Great comfort food in an intimate setting. This venue did not disappoint.
I visited for my wedding anniversary.I asked for an ocean seat, but there were no seats.
"The food was delicious, but I asked for medium rare steak, but it felt a little overcooked."
It was a bit disappointing.
And it was a bit disappointing that they didn't ask for another drink.
Overall, it is highly rated.
Great ocean view, easy parking under the hotel (otherwise impossible to find) and good food.
Friendly staff, great location :) We had an awesome experience
The views are amazing, the food was delicious. Farmers Flatbread had fresh ingredients. The mushroom ravioli was wonderful and not heavy. I was worried about ordering the mushroom ravioli but it but it was amazing and it was served over greens. I am looking forward to going back and trying other items.
We stayed at the hotel and decided to have our first meal here since we didn't want to look around. The lunch/dinner menu was the same but seemed to feature more lunch-like items so initially was a bit disappointed. We ordered the shrimp cocktail - HIGHLY RECOMMEND and a burger as well as the cobb salad. Everything was delicious, and the atmosphere was spectacular. I am glad we stayed and would dine there again.
It was fantastic!
Very nice - would have liked to see another fish entrée (like seabass or salmon) as only swordfish or poke offered. Food was very good - mussels were delicious but could use more than 1 pc bread before charging $1 for 1 extra slice.
We were staying at the hotel and wanted to get a drink and quick meal while watching the sunset. The setting is always lovely, but the food and service is not consistent!
We celebrated Easter here and it was a very good option. Wished the site was not fully covered so we could enjoy some of the sun and a better view but food and service were great overall.
Had a great Easter lunch with friends & family. Fabulous food + drinks + amazing beach front table.
Great place for lunch! outside patio very nice ! Food good, service good!
The shores restaurant is level with the beach and every table has a view of it. We dined here for Easter, no buffet, just order from the brunch menu. For a hotel restaurant food wasn't bad. I think they might've made it more occasion classy with white table cloths.
Gorgeous setting on the ocean; menu was fantastic.
Service wasn’t good at all. Could of went to rubios and paid a quarter of the price. Drinks are super watered down and service was super poor. The upside was the view, it distracted us from the food and bitter waitress
