Great accommodating staff for special dietary requests. Food is great.
Great table placements! Beautiful ocean views! good food! Free drink too!
Beautiful view, superb service. Building is dated and food was just fair.
Very nicely accommodated at safe and clean environment.
This is not a bad place to eat. Great location. As a San Diegan, there are far better places in the price range as far as food quality. I do recognize it is a great place for out of towners staying at the hotel. However the food while attractively presented, lacks in quality compared to many many establishments in San Diego.
Unexpected how good the food was. Service was also incredible.
One of our very favorite places and as good as ever. Right on the ocean. Lovely staff. good food.
Refreshingly good and beautiful view made for a great Sunday lunch.
Service was not that great. View was nice. Food was great.
It was my first time dining here and quite frankly might be my last. I visited this restaurant to celebrate my anniversary with my husband and the waiter paid little to no attention to us the entire night. Forty minutes after ordering our appetizer it was still not at our table, and our waiter Leo had visited the tables around us but completely ignored our table. Finally, he took our dinner order and when our food came we expressed that we had still not received our appetizer, an hour after being seated and ordering it, his response was “well, do you still want it?” Which personally, felt very cold and disrespectful. I understand that there are certain assumptions when young people, my husband and I are twenty, go out to dinner, but I had never felt this disrespected at a restaurant. The man who brought us our food (which was not our waiter) ended up bringing us our appetizer after we let him know we didn’t receive it. We were not billed for it. Maybe a different waiter would have resulted in a more positive experience, but Leo seemed very happy to wait on the tables with older couples.
We were celebrating our anniversary & looking for a new spot. The ambiance was great, service was outstanding & the food was delicious. We will definitely be back. Loved the laid back feel & beach vibe:)
Everything was great, except no parking! The lot was full in the hotel, we had to park 10 minutes away. In total it cost 20-30 minutes of our time. My SO also received bad looks from the parking attendants.
Went for lunch on a Saturday and was not even crowded. Noise level was not high as others have stated, despite it being next to the pool. View was great and service was great. Really recommend the ahi wontons, they were delicious.
Overall with covered parking included and with a view of the beach it is a very good value.
Everything was great. We were in a dark corner outside so we were initially overlooked. Once I made our presence known everything was great.
The dinners we have found to be pretty good. Happy hour is expensive & food scarce & just okay. We ordered the wings and we got a total of four. We ordered the nachos and they came out looking like some thing from a food court. Interesting that drinks are seven dollars and you get about half of what you would if you were buying dinner. They want you to look at the menu on your phone, we had to just about beg for a paper menu and the server appeared very annoyed that we didn’t want look at the menu on our phone.
The food was fantastic. We ordered the shrimp and Scallop Pappardelle. This dish was very tasty with fresh pasta. The Brussels Sprouts was well cooked with goat cheese. Also good. With a view of the beach it was a memorable dinner.
Server forgot my salad and wasn’t very attentive, but the ambience was beautiful
The outside dining was very nice. The food quality was good and there was sufficient variety for our group.
Food was excellent, however they put very little alcohol in my Mojito, I asked to add a little more and they brought me another shot of rum at no charge. The noise level was high next to the pool area, we asked for another table and they relocated us.
Great location and food! Enjoyed the experience with my husband
We were able to dine inside with proper safety protocols in place and we had a very nice spot to watch the sunset!
The only thing is that the menu is limited during COVID.
Very nice view, the food is okey. The service is okey too depending on which waiter it is !
The food is always great and the service is competent. Great view.
Excellent service, food, ambiance and location!
Thank you for the awesome memories!
The food and atmosphere are great and a added bonus is the view 😍
Great experience, food was great, they cleaned our table and everyone wore a mask.
This was my first time to The Shores and I was looking forward to it. I was able to find a spot on the street about a half block away, so the evening started off great. I didn't think I would find a spot so close and so quickly in LaJolla, so we were about 30 minutes early for our reservation. I entered and was waiting behind two groups in front of me, when Pauline approached with smiling eyes and asked if I had a reservation. She checked my name and told me that it would be no problem seating us early as several tables were being cleaned. A few minutes later she escorted us to a lovely table on the patio.
Shortly after we were seated, our server Susana greeted us nicely, served us ice water and asked if we would like a drink. We placed our drink order and checked out the menu. We weren't up for a huge meal, so we decided to split some appetizers, drink some wine and enjoy our view of the ocean while the sun set.
Even though the restaurant was very busy, the service was excellent throughout our meal. We decided on the Black Mussels with chorizo, Chicken Pot-stickers in a firecracker sauce and Ahi Tuna Wontons with a lovely wasabi aioli. Our food came quickly and the presentation was exceptional. Our choices provided a perfect blend of ingredients and flavors, with a zesty mix of sauces that went perfect with our wine.
Between the oceanside view, the festive atmosphere and ambience, coupled with the exceptional service and incredible, reasonably priced food, we will definitely be back to The Shores!
We had a great dinner at The Shores! The food was wonderful and we are foodies and somewhat picky. The steak had a terrific sauce and the Butterfish was superb. Service was very good. The view was typical La Jolla as you were looking out over the ocean and the temperature was perfect! Our only issue was that there was only outdoor dining (which I would probably prefer anyway) and the pool was right behind the seating area and was very loud at first. This kind of killed the atmosphere but it settled down after 6:30 or so. Otherwise, the restaurant is doing very well during these crazy covid times!
My husband wanted ocean view dinner as a birthday “gift” so I found The Shores Restaurant. I was able to reserve a table on Open Table, even tho there wasn’t much available we made it happen on our last day in La Jolla. We had perfect seating, just for the sunset. Our dinner was perfect and they also had a kids menu. The food was amazing! My daughter had mac and cheese, my husband steak, & I had bay scallop & shrimp pappardelle with amazingly crispy wings!!! Yum! I also appreciate that they were able to make an alcohol free drink for myself and that they also had regular bottled beer for my husband. Overall the service & ambient was great (despite COVID) and we’d definitely come back again and even try to stay at the hotel in the future. Only drawback is that even though they provide parking, it is for a price. But it’s that or good luck finding parking next to the beach, which I don’t recommend. It gets super packed!
We had a great time, food was great menu was limited
Nice weather beautiful view
Walking in, wondered if this older property might be run down. Never been before. So pleasantly surprised. Beautiful facility, great signage, awesome, friendly staff. Couldn’t have been better. Amazing, healthy food, great service.
Delicious food! And location is outstanding
The Butterfish was prepared to perfection and the service was excellent.
Great food! Great environment! Great service!
Delicious food, well prepared, at a shaded veranda table overlooking the ocean. I couldn’t ask for anything more!
Absolutely loved the food, the service, and the venue. Perfect sunset dinner. Couldn't have asked for more.
Ambiance was very dated. Dinner was great, the Banana Split Mud Pie was disappointing, very small serving & average taste.
We had a nice sunset dinner in celebration of my husband's birthday. They gave us a slice of mud pie for dessert on the house. It was a nice evening!
On the casual side. The tuna wonton was excellent. The salmon poke had very little flavor but they replaced it with the sea scallops and shrimp parpadelle which was tasty, but the scallops and shrimp were tiny. Server was very sweet.
Very poor service from our waiter. We were seated and the waiter came to our table, didn’t even introduce herself and asked if we were ready to order. We didn’t even have a chance to look at the menu. She never came to check on us or ask how our food was or if we needed anything. Before we had a chance to order desert or were offered if we wanted to order more food she brought our check, we had only been there 30mins and felt very rushed! When she brought us the check I ordered a desert and she said ok, walked away with our check and forgot to place my order for the desert. 30 mins went by and I had to ask another waiter for it. She never came back to our table after that. Very disappointed in the service as this was my first time at this restaurant. I will not return! The food was not the best either I ordered a ago poke bowl and the fish tasted room temperature wasn’t fresh!
