The restaurant is inside a hotel on the beach. There was plenty of dining outside but we sat inside so were all alone--but a fabulous view of the water! Food was outstanding as was the service. We started with splitting a perfect Caesar Salad, more than enough for two. I had the Butterfish (yummy) and Onion Rings, I mean what can I say? My husband had the paparadelli with shrimps and scallops which he said was wonderful too. THEN we really went to town and had dulce leche cream brulee. Our water, Jesse, was training Bella and we could not have had better service, we were treated like visiting royalty. There is parking in the lot under the hotel and they validate parking, but, get this, we found a legal spot on the street in LA JOLLA! We knew it was going to be a great lunch and we were right.
We had an excellent dinner at The Shores. Our food was great, dessert was unique, and the atmosphere was good as well. My family has been coming here for years. Love this place!
Great beachfront restaurant! Great food and great view! Nice place to watch the sunset.
It was a perfect place to celebrate our son’s milestone birthday.
Great experience with my mom. Really appreciate everything.
Fantastic setting and food. It was a little chilly so we were able to request a heater to be brought by our table.
Want the perfect place to take your partner to celebrate a special occasion - well, this is the place!! We loved the Margarita Flight and the Angus Steak and Butterfish main courses and topped it off with the Creme Brulee and Passion Fruit Cheese Cake! WOW - it was the perfect sunset within our view and the service was outstanding!!! Hope to come back again and will highly recommend this restaurant for a delightful experience!!
food is very average and expensive -- but it is on the beach, Needs renovation desperately - -very run down facility. Food is no big deal-- won't be going back anytime soon.
Great view loved it !
This is great for families. If you are lucky enough to get a seat outdoor next to the window, then it would be wonderful. Otherwise you might get stuck further away or inside. Inside has not been revamped and is super outdated. Tables look old and dirty. The restaurant needs a serious facelift. The view is nice if you enjoy looking at a very crowded beach.
I reserved a table outdoors and the first table offered was indoors, dark near the service area. I refused the table and indicated to the hostess my reservation was for an outdoors table. After the hostess indicated that is the only table they have I started walking away and then she took me to an outdoor table where there were 3 or 4 empty tables. I don't think I will use your Services again nor visit that restaurant again.
Really enjoyed food and atmosphere. Waitress was new or distracted but pleasant.
The food was very good but the steak sauce made the potatoes and salad soggy. The salad and potatoes should be in a separate dish.
Incredible view! Started with the tuna wontons - highly recommend!! Followed by the tuna bowl; we were not disappointed! The berry mojito was fabulous!
In spite of the COVID restrictions they
have to comply with the patio is a great place to enjoy dinner with friends.
I informed the hostess that it was our anniversary. No one acknowledged it. The waitress was only adequate but the other wait staff were excellent. There was loud music from the bar. The beach view was very nice. Parking in the underground garage was very challenging.
If you are going for a sunset dinner, this is not your best location. There is only a handful of tables where you can actually see the sunset. The front window are arched and blocks so much of the ocean view. It’s also a very outdated restaurant.
However, our server was good and the food wasn’t bad.
It’s a great experience. The ambiance is very welcoming and charming. Amazing view of La Jolla Shores beach and Cove. Schedule dinner around sunset and enjoy. Food and service were good.
Great food and view; you’re not actually right on the beach, there is a glass wall separating you. That was a bit deceiving from the photos . Indoor ambiance is lacking. It’s an older property
In the beginning it was going well. Appetizer was great. After the waiter took our order everything went downhill from there. They came out with two swordfish instead of one swordfish and one salmon. Our waiter never came back to ask how everything was and I had to asked for refill for my water. We had to flag our waiter down for our check and took awhile to get our bill. She didn't bring a pen for us to sign our check I had to go up to bust boy to ask for a pen. Unfortunately the service was not what I expected. Kinda disappointed since it was my husband's birthday.
Didn't care for the menu and not a lot of selection. Food was cool and not hot. You served a margarita in a beer pint glass with a straw. It's a cocktail not a beer (or a malt) therefore making the margarita taste like nothing but sweet/sour mix. The tables were sticky.
The restaurant was excellent. Perfect food, view, and service.
Service level was poor and amateurish, but the view and food were excellent
My husband and I were in town to celebrate our 20th anniversary. Our server was named Angel, and she truly was an angel. She and the restaurant staff made sure it was a special evening for us. We sat at a super cozy and intimate table outside, right on the beachfront, and enjoyed the sunset, and a delicious dinner. Thank you Shores Restaurant!
Seems like the menu shrunk during Coronavirus times. Still, good food and amazing water view.
They put me and my date right by the water and our server was extremely kind and quick with our food and drinks! We had a great start to our date in San Diego!
La Jolla Shores was beautiful and had amazing food. My wife and I will definitely be returning.
Service was slow and not attentive
I couldn’t eat my meal it was so bad
Delicious food, beautiful setting, great service!
It was great
Great accommodating staff for special dietary requests. Food is great.
Great table placements! Beautiful ocean views! good food! Free drink too!
Beautiful view, superb service. Building is dated and food was just fair.
Very nicely accommodated at safe and clean environment.
This is not a bad place to eat. Great location. As a San Diegan, there are far better places in the price range as far as food quality. I do recognize it is a great place for out of towners staying at the hotel. However the food while attractively presented, lacks in quality compared to many many establishments in San Diego.
Unexpected how good the food was. Service was also incredible.
One of our very favorite places and as good as ever. Right on the ocean. Lovely staff. good food.
Refreshingly good and beautiful view made for a great Sunday lunch.
Service was not that great. View was nice. Food was great.
It was my first time dining here and quite frankly might be my last. I visited this restaurant to celebrate my anniversary with my husband and the waiter paid little to no attention to us the entire night. Forty minutes after ordering our appetizer it was still not at our table, and our waiter Leo had visited the tables around us but completely ignored our table. Finally, he took our dinner order and when our food came we expressed that we had still not received our appetizer, an hour after being seated and ordering it, his response was “well, do you still want it?” Which personally, felt very cold and disrespectful. I understand that there are certain assumptions when young people, my husband and I are twenty, go out to dinner, but I had never felt this disrespected at a restaurant. The man who brought us our food (which was not our waiter) ended up bringing us our appetizer after we let him know we didn’t receive it. We were not billed for it. Maybe a different waiter would have resulted in a more positive experience, but Leo seemed very happy to wait on the tables with older couples.
