Brunch was extremely over priced at $64 a person, without any drinks included. For Mother’s Day, brunch was the only option. Food was above average, but not exceptional. Views were nice and server was good.
It was Mother’s Day brunch and I have to be honest for $65 a person, the food selection and quality is not good. We do a Mother’s Day brunch every year somewhere in San Diego and this was by far the worst brunch food we have had. The only positive, is that you have an amazing ocean view. We will not be coming back.
Delicious mother’s day brunch buffet! Friendly server.
Had Mother’s Day brunch. Limited selection, all was cold! When mentioned to staff, very indifferent. Better selections out there.
Was a very enjoyable brunch on Mother's day but my only problem was with the price and value of the meal. Very expensive mimosa which in my opinion should have been part if the $70 per person price. Not much breakfast food. Mom loved it though.
The view was amazing, the food great, most of service was great. Hostess not so great, a bit rude when seating us. Other than that, it was perfect!
Servers were friendly. View and location terrific.
Food was mediocre to poor. Decor is outdated.
Lee was our server and he was very considerate of our needs and helped us with menu choices.
He is just the kind of server that makes an experience exceptional in every way.
Food was delicious! View was marvelous!
Breakfast / brunch on a Sunday. We came back here on our anniversary as we had our wedding reception here years ago when it wears the sea lodge. Food was ok but nothing great and overpriced. Mimosa was 12 ! Waiter attentive enough but couldn't even explain the dishes which there wasn't that many and its breakfast! Hotel needs to be refurbished as it is very old.
Dinner to celebrate my son's college graduation. Everything was amazing. We'll be back.
Beautiful place to catch a sunset while dining ... right on the beach!
We thoroughly enjoyed the beautiful view and the food was excellent. My complaint was the high price for cocktails. My martini was $16+ and the house wine per glass was $11. The martini cost more than my meal by itself!
Food is average. Very quiet place, good for brunch.
It’s a hotel restaurant so not super interesting, but good view of the beach and interesting menu choices.
Perfect as always!
Celebrated four April birthdays at brunch. Lovely outdoor patio seating, attentive staff, great menu selection.
It was ok. We went for lunch. The ambiance was great! Food was overpriced for what we had. The caesar salad was bitter with literally ONE anchovy. I've had better salads at that price and portion. The kids meal was listed as pasta and meatball. No mention of sauce. While the portion was great, it was way too tangy and saucy for a toddler. The service was ok. She seemed busy so not as attentive as I would've liked.
Went there for Sunday brunch at 10am and learned their brunch doesn't start till 11:30am. Why? Overall experience was overpriced and underwhelming.
- Service was indifferent. Not directly rude, but certainly not friendly or anything that would make me want to return.
- $16 for Chilaquiles. That's chips, an egg or two, some cheese and chorizo, folks. I expected something fantastic for that price, but I've had better from a taco shop.
- $12 for a mimosa. That's maybe 3 ounces of OJ with a splash of the cheapest champagne ever... for twelve dollars. You can get bottomless mimosas at other brunches for 15 bucks; so one weak mimosa for 12 dollars was enough to realize the ripoff I was drinking.
- Our small group had a very simple breakfast (one alcoholic drink mentioned above), yet somehow we wrapped up a bill of well over a hundred dollars and still had to pay extra for parking.
The view is nice but there are a hundred other options at San Diego beaches that provide comparable atmosphere but with awesome food, better service and greater value for the price.
Delicious food, lovely atmosphere, great service.
Beautiful! Just what I was hoping for. Lovely view and great service. Our server, Susana was exceptional!
Great service, great views
I wouldn't go back there, place is too tired looking!
The view of the ocean and the warmth of the surroundings made for a special dining experience
Will definitely return and possibly eat
At the bar which looks
Straight out to the sea
Nice restaurant but food overrated. Most of entrees were too sweet. Wine was good.
Food was OK. Service was fine. The place needs serious renovating.
Great place for conversation with friends - quiet
Wonderful ocean view!
Sourdough dinner rolls are great
Seated in a quiet banquette far from a loud group. Wait staff very competent and responsive. The cuisine is creative and tasty. We go frequently because it is the best value in La Jolla.
So our server was very gracious and the restaurant ended up comping our meal. Unfortunately the Filet we ordered med. Well came out rare. We sent it back and this time it came out medium rare, not even close to med. Well. By now my companion wss preyyy much done with her meal. Oyher food was ok, nothing to write home about. Restaurant appearance seemed tired. Agsin server and oyher staff were good but overall not a grest experience on a prefix Valentine dinner.
Valentines dinner was awesome great service as usual and very tasty food
Love The Shores. Go there often and always enjoy the view , food and service. Great place to take visitors.
San Valentine’s day, was perfect!
Great food, a little dated decor, but great views of beach
Nice cozy ocean view booths and happy hour deals. Cocktails were weak on the alcohol, but tasted great, and the small plates were creative and yummy.
Old hotel. Very dated. Food was mediocre at best. Will not return. Services was fine. Noisy sitting outside due to proximity of pool and many children.
Excellent service, incredible view and a surprisingly tasty menu.
Enjoyed our first time dinning here!! The food was amazing and our server was even better. Not loud, which was good considering there were children and it still wasn’t loud! Definitely worth it!
Beautiful table with a view of the ocean for the birthday girl. Hostess and waiter were very friendly. They gave her a bday cake and candle that made her day. :)
We ordered the flight of mimosas and they didn’t have the orchid flower garnish and that was a bummer. Also glasses of champagne were not full and the pineapple slice was on the OJ not the pineapple juice. I saw a pic of the mimosas and that’s what brought me to the shores so I was a little bummed about that.
We always enjoy the Shores and try to snag one of the 3 booths in the bar if possible. You have great views of the beach, ocean and setting sun while you sip your drinks and eat reliably good food. The burgers and fish tacos are good, and the roasted Brussels sprouts are fantastic. The best I’ve eaten anywhere in San Diego.
What a great time we had at The Shores restaurant. It was a busy Friday night, but all of the staff were on their game. We ordered from the restaurant week menu and everything was delicious. And let's not forget that view! Wonderful experience I hope we can repeat soon!
One of the most creative menus for Restaurant Week. They showcased their pacific rim cuisine. Our meal was delicious, especially the poke and butterfish. You can’t beat the view literally on La Jolla Shores. The decor is definitely dated, but I am more interested in the food and outstanding view of breaking waves on the beach
