   We have been to The Salty Sow many times over the years. If this had been our first time, I would have to really think about going back. While the food was great, as always, the service was very bad. We got there when it opened and were seated immediately. Our server came to us about 5 minutes after we sat to introduce herself and ask if we had questions. She said she would come back for our drink orders. Ten minutes later, she came for the drink order. After another server dropped off our drinks, our original server came by to take our food order. We ordered some starters which came out quickly. Another ten minutes passed before she took our main orders. We noticed the food was taking a while to come out, especially as tables around us who had ordered their food after us started getting their food orders. Thirty minutes after we placed our order I asked about our food. the server had a slightly startled look on her face but said it would be right out. Another 10 minutes went by before it did with no apology of how long it took.

   Food, atmosphere and value all great. Service, not so much. Server seemed too busy attending other larger parties (we were only two). My dining partner promptly received his glass of wine from the bar, but our server forgot to bring my iced tea. Took a while for him to come back to take our food order. We had to flag him down for a second glass of wine and a tea refill. We also had to flag him down to bring us our bill.

   We had a very good first experience! The catfish nuggets were delicious and piping hot out to our table ! Our waiter was a pro! Made suggestions and did not hover over us and also did not rush us ! Honey chicken and pork belly both excellent ! Would go again ! I thought the prices were good but I travel a LOT and Austin seems reasonable on most things ! Enjoy !

   With all the great restaurants in the Austin area, we rarely visit one twice. We liked Salty Sow so much that we decided to come back again so that we could try some other items - so many looked great!

    Amazing Mother’s Day experience. One of the best food I’ve had. Dessert was even better. The Beignet it’s a must to order!
