This was a truly great experience . The entertainment is first class and the food is even good. It is an experience not to be missed if you are over 60 and can relate to the ambiance and music. It’s real noisy and busy. We had really good professional service and the food is excellent. It probably would have been ok if the food hadn’t been good, but it was. We will go every time we are in Palm Springs.
Great place, great talent, great food but the sound need to be updated very promptly!!!
Fantastic experience all around! Thank you for a great night!
We have been to The Purple Room many times since moving to the desert and love it. This time, we were especially pleased to see not one, but two, vegan entrees on the menu. They were both excellent. The entertainment, as always, was first class, and the ambiance cannot be beat. We are big fans of The Purple Room and hope to return soon on a Friday or Sunday for "The Judy Show."
Always love bringing friends here for first time. Food has improved since last year and the live performances are always the driving force behind coming.
Will continue to come annually
Unfortunate I have to write this review as I really don't do this unless I am really upset. I was out for a birthday dinner and the waitress came to the table twice. Dropped off drinks and a check. She walked right past our table never asked how our food was, any additional drinks, nothing. She saw dirty salad dish and soup dish on the corner of our table while we were eating our main course and walked on by. Guess because we were a party of two vs. the high dollar tables of 4 or more that were drinking. Great singer and the club itself had a nice vibe. Food was ok but steak was a bit cold. Maybe Mondays aren't a good day to eat there.
We sat near the bar and could not hear the music, such a shame because she was great. Poor sound system
Great food super service and probably a good show, its a shame because we went for the music
It was extremely overpriced, very crowded. Asked waiter for more sauce for salmon - brought melted butter. Champagne was to come with meal, but had to ask for it.
Great entertainment, food and service! Fair value. Only shortcoming was dessert and lack of coffee service.
The lounge singer was excellent and the steak dinner very good!
The Purple Room is an experience despite mediocre food. You're in an intimate area with a Jazz trio, and an accomplished singer (Rose was there on our night). The food was mediocre at best: overcooked beef tenderloin served with cold potatoes; my wife had scallops -also cold. Wines by the glass are reasonable in price and selection. They have an incredible bourbon selection, including flights. I didn't go for the bourbon this time, but that would be a reason to return.
The food was ok, nothing special. We had a good table for the live music -- jazz singer with backing trio. That made the evening a little special.
Entertainment was great but the food just ok (side dishes like mashed potatoes and mushrooms) were cold with the chicken remoulade.
The Purple Room is the place to go to experience the forgotten era of the dinner/night club. In the past several years, we have become Sharon Sills fans and visit the venue 3-4 times during our stay. My wife requires a gluten free diet. This appeared on our Open table profile. When we arrived, the hostess identified that fact. After seating us, she went over the menu with my wife identifying the gluten free items available (there were many). This was greatly appreciated. It made our visit that much more enjoyable.
Always love coming to The Purple Room. Michael Holmes is such a charming host. Brought our friends from Saskatchewan for the easy listening music and fantastic food. Mojitos were excellent too. We can’t wait to come back. 😊
If you're an 'old soul' with the Great American Songbook in your dna...or even of a younger generation with an appreciation for the classics you cannot go wrong here. Terrific evening of entertainment made even better with an excellent menu.
The host was fantastic! I thought during the week we could order from small plates menu from the reservation tables. When we got there I founf I had to have lounge seating in order to order from small plates and host got us in and switched right away. Waiter was snobby...don't know my wines, kind of humphed at my comment about not knowing wines, was "put off" that we were ordering from small plates and only checked on us once, really by accident, as he was checking on table behind us and caught himself as he rushed by. He barely slowed down to ask if everything was ok. Not impressed. Also if you sit in lounge area, you can see ok, and there is a monitor, but all the talking makes it very, very hard to hear the performers. Cool place, great food, great host...meh server and ability to enjoy shows from behind the bar.
Great experience. Reservations are for dining only. Be sure you go ready to eat.
Cocktails were excellent. Food was tasty. Entertainment was a nice surprise since we didn't expect anything on a Monday night. What a treat to be in the room where the Rat Pack was formed!
Food is ok but entertainment is awesome. Really fun time!
It's always a pleasant time here at the Purple Room. Lovvve this place!
Went for excellent live jazz with Keisha D and was surprised by terrific service and really good food at excellent price point. Will definitely return!
Great dinner with live entertainment. You feel like you have stepped back 50 years.
Always love the Purple Room—-ahi taco starter was delicious
All aspects of the hospitality industry are fiercely competitive in the Coachella Valley, and this includes restaurants, musical entertainment, and drinking establishments. The Purple Room does a wonderful job with all of these sectors! There is "complimentary" music many nights and "paid ticketed-events" others. We believe that the "complimentary" music is quite good, so we rarely make a reservation when there is an entertainment charge. DO book in advance, however. Lovely "everything," and a very hard-working and friendly staff.
I love this place. Great service, good food.
We had a delightful evening. Food was good, our server was courteous and helpful. Rose Mallett’s wonderful singing was the highlight. We’ll be back.
Excellent evening. Interesting place with live music (jazz). Whilst I enjoyed everything the purple pear salad was outstanding. Chef also cooked my tenderloin exactly as requested. Would go back and I recommend this venue.
Visitors from out of town — everyone loved “Music of the Rat Pack” on date night. Our waiter Chris was the best!
This is the third year in a row we've made it to the Purple Room. Such fun! Wonderful music and a great vibe from yesteryear. This is the first time we went to one of the "regular" nights (not a ticketed event) and all the musicians (singers, pianist, drummer) were fabulous. Highly recommended.
We have visited Palm Springs from the East Coast several times over the past 20 years, and unfortunately did not discover the Purple Room until January, 2019. The food is very good, the service even better and most important to us, it it is a great "old school" room for listening to music. We have especially enjoyed Rose Mallett and her trio on Tuesday evenings -- fine jazz and blues singing, fine individual and group musicianship. Highly recommended for a fun evening out. Be sure to check out the Dean Martin and Frank Sinatra quotes printed prominently on the Room's walls!
Memorable Way To Bring In The New Year ... Our party of four arrived at 10:00 pm on December 31st for dinner and to bring in the new year and new decade with good food, good service, a festive atmosphere and dynamite live entertainment. The Purple Room delivered all of the above. Really, this vintage "Rat Pack" hangout did everything right to make the evening special and memorable. We will be back.
A favorite for dinner and live entertainment. NYE was no exception!
Thank you Michael for another wonderful evening!
Purple Room experience is about the entertainment and ambiance. Rose Mallet is a treasure
Love the ambiance and dinner was lovely
Food was cold. Didn’t get bread basket brought to table. Service was slow. Music was ok but can get the same thing at Melvyn’s. Took off one glass of wine to make up. Would not order Prime Rib.
Unfortunately the service was so bad that it overshadowed the food (which was good)! $150 for two (without drinks) to have to ask the bus boy for water!
As ever, the purple room delivers a high quality, high value experience in the tradition of yesterday. From the exceptional drinks and dining to the suburb waitstaff and performers the whole can only be considered an experience, and whole greater than the sum of the parts. This is a must do experience that will satisfy and delight.
Such a joy to spend Christmas time in Palm Springs. So many places were going to be closed Christmas Day, so when I saw the Purple Room would be open with a 3 course meal and live music, I couldn’t resist the chance to reserve a table for my boyfriend and I Such a beautiful place! The history and the atmosphere really made for such a nice festive night. The service and food was top notch.
The live dinner music was so special and not too loud that you couldn’t have good conversation.
I most definitely recommend an evening here!
