Went on a Monday night before a gig, even though we arrived at 6pm, the service was shocking, bar staff didn't even acknowledge we were there until we asked to be served. Ordered food and it took just under an hour to arrive, with no feedback to why our food hadn't arrived until we asked, which all we got was its a trainee chef working tonigt, they offered to refund us our money but by this stage it was getting to late for that! Our starters arrived which were cold, this indicated to us that they had perhaps been sitting somewhere for a bit and our mains were terrible, the burger patty fell apart and the ribs had no sauce and was again luke warm. We wont be visiting here again, the staff were not "all there" so we do not recommend going.

Place was packed with drinkers, not many eating, they've obviously tried it before. Typical pub grub menu, looked promising, how can cooking such simple food go so wrong, but it did. Burnt pie, burnt chicken breast, chunky chips hard in the middle, would have had better food next door in KFC, at half the price to no doubt. They would be better off sticking to just selling crips and peanuts!

Having read reviews, I was expecting a lot, but sadly those expectations were not met; service was slow and unattentive, and the food was very average pub food. That said, the atmosphere was lively.

Unfortunately when we arrived for dinner the staff told us the kitchens were closed due to a problem and they had called out someone to fix things. They were not overly fussed or apologetic about the fact that there was nothing to offer, which given the unattractive surroundings gave us a good excuse to go and look elsewhere instead of waiting for kitchen to fire up again. Consequently can't give a review on food as only had bag of peanuts and a drink but, overall ambiance pretty low in such a vibrant part of London.

I wasn't sure what it would be like dining in a busy pub in Brixton on a Friday night but the Prince exceeded expectations. Despite being busy the table had been kept, and the service throughout was efficient, friendly and attentive. The food was also really nice for the price, we both had haloumi mushroom burgers which were very tasty and fresh, chips were proper homecooked style and veg full of colour.

Good food & nice atmosphere - pretty much best place in Brixton for a pre-dinner before a concert at Academy.

Only ordered a couple of burgers but these came out in good time but, for the price I would have expected chips to come as standard and not cost an extra £3.

I'v visited The Prince a few weeks ago before a gig at the Brixton Academy and came again last night.The atmosphere was great with live jazz as we ate, and the food was fantastic (the mussels, pork belly and spinach is fab!). However, the evening was let down by very poor waitress service, also experienced by other tables. I complained to the manager who was very apologetic and adjusted the bill accordingly. Will return again for lovely food and ambience- just hope the service improves!
