The Perfect Caper
We feel the Caper is an extension of your home and that you and your family will feel welcomed at our table. Enjoy life...Eat Good Food!
As always, the food was fantastic. We opted for the prix fixe menu, adding two glasses of wine each, for an unbeatable value of $70 total. The Warm Goat appetizer is a treat, with goat cheese, roasted garlic, olive tapenade, eggplant caponata and roasted peppers. Make sure to ask for more toast points. The mussels were to die for, juicy and succulent in an unbelievably rich and delicious broth. For the mains, we had the fried chicken, nice and moist, with creamy polenta, and the shrimp tempura, fried in such a light, delicate, authentic batter.
Throughly enjoyed our meal. Linda our sever was very courteous, knowledgeable and attentive. I added the scallops to the risotto app and they were cooked medium as ordered. My wife had the Crispy Shrimp app and the Duck rntree. My filet was perfect and well rested. A little under seasoned (S &P) for my tastes, but a very enjoyable meal. Highly recommend.
The Perfect Caper was wonderful...as always. I highly recommend it.
Great ambiance and food was good, but a bit pricey. If you don’t mind paying more than other good restaurants in the area, this is an excellent choice. Overall I’d say the restaurant is a perfect choice for that special occasion.
Great food and great presentation. The pan seared Scallops are out of this world. Deserts are also great.
We have always had a great experience at The Perfect Caper. Usually we go for dinner but this was the first time we had lunch there and it was awesome! I highly recommend the cracker jack chicken sandwich. Yummy!!
Always a fantastic place to go and quite an impressive array of entrées but you’re always well executed. It’s a hidden gem in a small town like ours. I’m glad it’s here and hope it never goes away
Our favorite dinning spot in Punta Gorda, and the surrounding area!
My second visit here, did not disappoint. Great food and service. Love the menu.
Very good meal, excellent service. We will go back.
Good for a special occasion. It’s pricey. The service was excellent. My lamb came out to rare but they immediately fixed it to my liking. My husband had a salmon dish which he said was very good.
the daily special of triple tail was over cooked, the duck breast was rare(cold center) not med rare as ordered but we did not complain, we're pretty easy. When my entrée of triple tail was delivered the nero gnocchi was replaced with plain gnocchi with no explanation. (nero gnocchi out at 5;30??) After tasting the replacement, I discovered it was raw. I sent it back to the kitchen. The kitchen sent the same gnocchi back to me cut in half and said it was cooked properly. I was not offered a replacement. I did not eat it. This is not a fine dining experience. The cook's ego exceeds his skill.
My husband had the crab cake which was excellent. The waiter was able to customize the sides. I had the special: triple tail with lobster meat and gnocci. It lacked 'umami' that 'deliciousness' taste. The special dessert was an individual blueberry tart with strawberry sauce. It was fantastic.
Even though it is French Quisine - very spendy
If we had known about the bar area with a differnet menu choice and lower drink orices we would have earen i there. Next time we will try that.
Thw white wine we had was very good. The crabby scallop entree was delicious
Three different meals and all were perfect! Dean is an excellent server
This place has to be the best overall in the area. The staffing is wonderful and the food is great. If you have a problem walking there is parking right in front of the entry. Their food selection is always well prepared and healthy. Try it and you will not be disappointed.
The Perfect Caper was “perfect “
Food was excellent as usual. We had another couple with us who had never been and they loved it.
As usual this was an excellent experience. We went for lunch. We had a reservation for a later time but our earlier activity did not run as long so we called and changed it and that was no problem at all. We had the Burger of the Day and what a burger! The individual components of it didn't glare at you individually so the combination made each bite complete and spectacular. The Pom Frites were probably the best we have had anywhere in the world and added so much to the meal. Focaccia and oil to start and we took a 7 layer "to die for" cake home to share later in the evening.
It was a simple but spectacular meal with a very drinkable $5 Cabernet too. We use the Caper for special dinners but would also highly recommend it for anytime dining too. The staff is always attentive and friendly. I really can't say enough good about "The Caper"! You won't be disappointed.
Excellent service and very good food but I have to say it is a bit overpriced. Another local restaurant provide a free dessert for a special occasion but all we got here was a candle for the dessert that we had to pay for.
I had the three fin and my spouse enjoyed the steak and fries. Everything was perfectly prepared and wonderfully presented on the plates. We ate in the lounge and enjoyed the conversations with the other guests. To top it off we ordered the chocolate desert. It too was a work of art.
We like to think of ourselves as appreciating a good meal. This is one of, if not the best in our area. Well worth the drive (35minutes). It's a real gem for Punta Gorda..
Not only is the food good but you can have a terrific Cocktail and enjoy your friends conversation without having to yell. This seems to be something harder and harder to find these days.
Definitely will go back and back again...
Outstanding food and service we will be back.
If you haven’t gone you don’t know what your missing.
The Perfect Caper is a unique spot in our little town that always delivers great food and great service. A real gem!
After having poor culinary experiences at all the restaurants I tried in Punta Gorda, I decided to give it one more try and went to The Perfect Caper for lunch. Shocked and amazed. The food was excellent. The shrimp with pasta in a lemon sauce was wonderful but you only get 2 shrimp, that was disappointing based on cost of dish. Otherwise it was excellent. For 2 people having ice tea each and one entree each cost was a little over $50 plus tip. It’s NYC pricy for lunch. This will be a repeat for myself and family.
As usual the food and service (Gabe) was excellent.
We had always loved the Perfect Caper....but the last couple of times we have gone there, we have been disappointed in the food. My husband had a Shrimp Tempura that was not very good. The coating around the shrimp was very doughy and tasteless. I had one of there specials, a grouper dish that was just OK, nothing to brag about...but cost 32.00. Certainly not worth the price. We spent around 125.00 for the 2 of us, which included 2 entree’s, 1 appetizer ( which was good, a pate dish), no dessert & 2 glasses of wine. One would expect for that amount of money, the food would be excellent. So sorry to see this fine restaurant go downhill.
On the other had, the service was excellent!
It is always perfect at the caper. We had the prix fixe menu with wine and enjoyed it immensely. Service is always great and everything delicious. A favorite dining destination.
Family favorite! The best “Shrimp n’ Grits” EVER! Lovely ambiance, impeccable food and service. We are so lucky to have “The Perfect Caper” in our community
Had vegans and food allergies but they were able to prepare great food for all of us. Great dinner.
The restaurant was awesome. amazing food little pricey but so worth it and I thought the portions were big. I would go back for sure next time I am in town.
We had a group of 8 to celebrate my mother's 86th birthday. Everyone enjoyed everything. They were even talking about it the next day. It was perfect for this special occasion.
Food was phenomenal! Though my husband’s salad was iceberg with not much flavor, all else was devine. Definitely a great place for a special occasion. We would go back for sure, and recommend to friends.
One of my favorite restaurants in Punta Gorda for really good food. Service is good, you are not rushed at any time. It's one of the more expensive restaurants in Punta Gorda, but worth the price.
We are retired full time residents of PG and average 4 trips per year (dinner/lunch) to the caper. These we consider an experience and not just going out for dinner. We tend to use the Caper for special occasions and do not "scrimp" when ordering. Our recent dinner for my wife's birthday with wine and tip was over $160. Given the food, service, menu, ambiance, consistency and general uniqueness of the restaurant this is good value for the money. While we would like to eat there more often we are aware that for the same amount of money we can dine-out three times as often. However this is not a fair comparison as the Caper stands somewhat alone among PG eating establishments.
The Perfect Caper offers an excellent menu and outstanding service. Our meals were cooked to perfection.
great food, slightly pricey, very accommodating staff.
josh at the bar is the most skilled and conversational bartender I've met in 67 years...make him a partner or give him a raise.
This has been my favorite restaurant for many years.
This is a small town, too many other restaurants have come and gone, The Perfect Caper has continued to outshine and outlast them all.
Wonderful meal, great food, attentive service 6 stars.
