The Mill House
The Mill House applies an innovative approach to fresh, local ingredients in dishes that honor the cultures of those who emigrated from Japan, China, Spain, Korea, Portugal, and other distant lands to work in Maui’s sugarcane industry a century and more ago. All dining areas pay homage to Maui’s sugarcane history with reclaimed and restored pieces from the area’s now closed sugar mills.
When you make a reservation with The Mill House space is set aside at an indoor table for your comfort. Upon arrival, guests are seated in one of our four dining areas, with varying types of ambiance, and all open aired.
While the views from the lanai can be stunning, it is important to note that the weather varies. Swings between hot sunlight and cool breezes or rain are possible, making seating for this space unpredictable.

The Mill house is very close to the airport so I decided to bring my wife and daughter there as the last stop before our trip is over. This is a pretty big location with many scenic spots for photography. The restaurant offers both indoor and outdoor view. I chose the indoor because I don’t want to build up a sweat before I board my flight. The sunset was beautiful as the sun goes behind the Mountain View. The food is also very satisfying considering the prices. Throughout the trip I’ve tried other fancy restaurants like Banyan Tree, and Plantation House but the Mill House has the best value for the prices if we are only considering the food. I had the prawn and fish curry and my wife had the beef pasta. Both are great choices but the Kalbi appetizer was the biggest surprise. It looks a tenderloin but it tasted like short rib.
I think this place is a must stop if your flight home is at night.
Our family enjoyed all of our selections, including the market pork (perfect for the son with food sensitivities), the oxtail soup, the pizza, and the mahi entree. And the rum experience... ahhh! Plantation punch and daquiri... yum! Mostly, we enjoyed our capable and adorable wait staff team.
The Mill House is outstanding overall! Slightly pricey $$$$, but the food is well worth it. Ambience is wonderful with a very scenic view of the Maui hills. Highly recommend a visit.
We had a 4:45 reservation for early dinner which got us there in time for the end of happy hour. Everyone in our party of four found salads/entrees/drinks on the happy hour menu that they enjoyed. We sat outside and enjoyed the views of the well maintained grounds. A very positive experience!

Love the setting. Our server was excellent. Sorry I don’t remember his name. Food came out fast. The only thing was I wish we had the option to sit completely outside. We were never offered the option. Thanks again for the dinner.
Service is lackluster at best - disinterested, unorganized, and sloppy in actuality. Such a shame as the restaurant is nestled in the charming Plantation grounds.
Considering the fact that the drink menu is 3x the dining menu, one would expect more than overly sweet and sugary concoctions that destroy any character the spirits may have once possessed.
We ordered from the Chef’s Selections portion of the menu, which is purportedly the creme de la creme of the kitchen. What a disappointment. The flavors consist primarily of raw ginger, salt, and a HEAVY hand with lemon. The ox tail soup with dumplings was inedible with dumplings (Western, not Asian) as hard as golf balls. I couldn’t even get my spoon through one to taste it. I left the full dish with overcooked greens and raw ginger untouched. When our server came to check on us, Instead of offering to replace the dish with something else, he simply left it on the table and said he’d mention it to the kitchen but that they were supposed to be “dense”.
Meanwhile, our second course arrived - agnolotti with prawns. Imagine again my disappointment when a dish of a single cut up shrimp (not a prawn in sight) with flavorless ravioli covered in melted butter and mayonnaise (ahem, an emulsion) and what literally looked like the frozen veg medley from the supermarket freezer section was placed in front of me.
Oh, and the “fire roasted vegetables” was boiled crudités with powdered Parmesan cheese, which the server practically threw on the table, causing the whole dish to resemble a pizza delivered after being dropped and jostled through a sinkhole-sized pothole.
A manager asked how we were enjoying the meal, and I asked whether our server had mentioned the “dense” dumplings (as he said he would). No mention of it - what a surprise! I have long ago accepted the fact there is no “gourmet” dining in Maui, but hospitality is essential and usually the norm on the island. Mill House fell woefully short of the mark.
We are disappointed to hear of your recent experience with the food, drinks, and service. The Mill House is a from-scratch kitchen and sources fresh ingredients locally. Servers are trained to share guest concerns with management; we are sorry this did not happen. The bartenders are required to follow recipes which include at least 1.5 ounces of spirits per drink. Mahalo for sharing your feedback as it enables the Management Team to implement changes that enhance the overall experience.

The Mill House is a gem nestled within the plantation.
The views are stunning ( try to go during sunlight to enjoy the full effect). The staff was great and took the time to explain to us the history of the plantation and restaurant. The food was outstanding and definitely farm fresh. I loved the ambiance and open air traditional Hawaiian feel.this place is a dining must in Maui!

Delicious food especially the bone marrow dish. But, the view and grounds of the plantation can't be beat. Really enjoyed our meal!
Awesome Hawaiian food
Loved the ambiance and setting -- beautiful grounds/garden area, with mountains in the background. All of the hostesses and waiters/waitresses were so nice. Our favorites were: bone marrow appetizer (rich and tasty), and pork belly barley porridge (flavorful comfort-type food). The two lillikoi cocktails (can't remember the names) were both delicious!

The setting is stunning; go early to see it in the daylight. The food is good but not great; maybe my expectations were too high. Chickpea cakes were totally flavorless but mushroom croquetas were very good. The fish was fine...not fantastic though.

Delicious food and super fabulous customer service. Our waiter was very knowledgeable about the plantation and menu. He was able to described and recommended dishes we enjoyed very much. The coconut sorbet was so creamy and rich -- the best coconut ice cream/sorbet we ever had. The agua fresco was very good too. Food came out on time.

Newlyweds dinner night out. First time we visit The Mill House, we were excited to have a great time. But we had a bad server :( we did address to the manager, hopefully they will fix their problem and retrain the staffs. But we sure will give it another chance.

On our honeymoon. We were greeted with complimentary champagne toasts. Jonathan was our waiter and took great care of us. Everything we ordered was amazing and we were bummed when we got full. One of those places you just want to continue to trying new things and enjoy the scenery.

Beautiful setting with picturesque hillside views.
Service was friendly but mediocre.
Food was disappointing. Burgers were just ok with an unusual but not so good tasting sauce. Fish sandwich was a little better but not with the $14 price and $6 extra for sides.
Kids pasta portion size was a small soup bowl and $3 extra for on meatball, again nothing special as for taste.
All in all, great setting and beautiful decor and ambiance but we recommend visiting the plantation and eating lunch elsewhere.

Everything about this dinner was wonderful. Go early or stay late to explore the grounds. We had an incredible view of the mountains while we ate. The food and cocktails were delicious. Great memories were made!

Pros: We dined here for our anniversary dinner, and were welcomed by the host and offered complimentary champagne to start off our meal. Our waiter was nice and offered to substitute a dish when it wasn’t to our tastes. The ambiance was really nice at night. We had walked around the plantation a few days earlier. The seared Amberjack was great with fresh salad and well seasoned veggies. We should have just ordered 2 of these. The lemon cocktail was really refreshing for the summer!
Cons: We had high expectations for the food given the reviews and website. Most of the dishes seemed to be lacking something. The oxtail soup: the oxtail was not tender enough and bland. The dumplings in the soup were dense and extremely dry. The waiter wasn’t even sure how we were supposed to eat it (hence we had to send it back - only dish ever had to do). We substituted the oxtail for the Kalbi steak: the meat was delicious, but the side salad had a coconut taste that was off putting in what was supposed to be somewhat pickled veggies. The pork musubi: while the meat had a nice crisp to it, the rice was bland and did not hold together and hard to eat.
Overall: The ambiance, decor, and staff couldn’t really make up for the food, especially when our waiter couldn’t really recommend dishes to us. We recommend coming for Happy hour for drinks and maybe try the fish.

We loved everything about the Mill House and couldn't believe after all our trips to Maui that we'd never been before. The most uniquely designed menu I've ever seen - I could've sat and read the history of the Mill House and looked at the photos in the menu all night. And the daily report in the beginning was so cool! It was such an interesting place to walk around - so many neat things to see. Great for a romantic date night (sit outside!!) or good for families (a little louder inside). The food was really good and the drinks were excellent. We were there for a date night and ended up coming back the next day with the kids so they could feed the ducks and have ice cream. We'll be back when they're older for the zip line and I'm sure many trips in between. Very glad we came!

The surrounding scenery is relaxing, lush, and a nice break from the ocean. Our server and runners were top notch! The food was high quality. We couldn’t have been happier. We were traveling w two teenage boys that may not always appreciate the cultural wonder of places outside the Bay Area, and they too loved this lunch trip. We arrived at happy hour, it was great all around! Also, the majority of the menu is farm-to-table and most of it is scratch! Our teens even like the house made ketchup.

This was our first experience at the Mill House and my family was blown away. The food and service were excellent but the Mill House is so much more than that. The scenery and backdrop are the best on the island. The view from the dining room is "Jurassic Park" like. Beautiful.

The old fashioned and passion project are a must. I could have drank an entire pitcher of the passion project. Chopped salad, fish curry, mushroom croquetas, fish profiteroles are dishes we tried and loved. For the keikis, ours loved the buttered pasta (best they ever had). The grounds are beautiful. So many yummy tropical smells in the store. We went twice and would go a third time on our trip.

My wife and I came in for our 30th anniversary on August 5th. We were treated like we were the most important people in The Mill House. The staff was fantastic, several of them wished us a happy anniversary plus we were seated at a table with a great view. The food was great, everything was perfect.
