   The Melting Pot used to be our favorite restaurant. It was the go to place for anniversaries and birthdays. Note, I am now using the past tense. It used to be a lot classier. When we walked in there was no one at the front desk. There was, however, a spray bottle of cleaner and a dirty rag. Not a great start. After a few minutes a young lady noticed us and came over. While she could see our reservation, she didn't know where to put us. Another young lady, whom I assumed to be a manager, came over to help her. She fiddled with the computer for a while and then said "Oooops, didn't mean to do that!" Another few minutes messing with the computer and she disappears to the back. More wait. She reappears after about 5 more minutes and takes us to our table. Not the best start. Strike one Our waiter introduces himself and shares that this is his third day (yay!), We had a question about substituting an ingredient which caused him to disappear for a while. He took our order and retreated to the kitchen. A few minutes later he returns with the cheese fondue appetizer. It is already made. In the past the waiter made it tableside and explained the ingredients. Now it just comes out. Another strike. The salads were fine, if smaller in portion than in the past. We ordered The Big Night Out. They used to serve it with two different batters. Now there is only one and Panko crumbs. Fewer mushrooms than before. MUCH smaller amounts of condiments/sauces. They will bring you more if you ask, but you have to ask. We had to ask the waiter twice to refill our waters. Again, the dessert, which used to be assembled at your table, was brought out made from the kitchen. Worse, the chocolate was cold. Not warm, COLD. We waited 10 minutes for it to get even a little warm. Big Night Out and one drink came to about $210 with tip. For that kind of money it should be a memorable - in a good way - experience.

   I took my daughter to the Melting Pot for her first fancy fondue night. We had a great time and enjoyed the food, ambiance and service. Even on a busy Friday night our waitstaff was super attentive and helpful.

   So I want to say that the service was on point. From the hostess to the server to the manager. They couldn’t have done a better job. With that said, we didn’t get our drinks until we were done with our cheese fondue. The ambiance is super weird and off putting. It’s dark and there’s no music playing. The layout of the restaurant sucks. It’s wildly overpriced and the booths are just too small. It needs a remodel badly.

   The Melting Pot used to be an “experience” but it is no longer that. It’s obvious they are understaffed so I don’t blame the servers as they are doing the best they can. The food was okay but it took 45 minutes to get anything at our table which includes drinks. Just not the same as it used to be years ago so I cannot recommend it.

   Tana was amazing, kept drinks full and took care of us. 2 birthdays to celebrate and made us feel like we were her only table. 10/10 will come back again for her
