One of our favorite places - the staff, the food, the ambiance is perfect!
food was excellent, and waiter was good and very amiable, but not the hostess Table was poor and would not move us despite other tables opening up. Menu very limited but u can ask for items from bar menu— Ask for ahi “nachos” (on crispy wontons): excellent. Salmon from dinner menu also wonderful. Would recommend of sorts, but a lot of tables not good
The food was great, but the seating was no good and we all freezing outside, their heaters not good. We had special day and was ruined because of cold and bad seating
Limited lunch menu on a Sunday. Our food was good, service was great, and the view was phenomenal. We got lucky some days this can be socked in with a marine layer. Great Dessert too!
Nice venue. Good food. Bus staff attentive, but hostess was quite rude. A bad way to start out a meal!
We stayed in a villa with an ocean view, absolutely beautiful room, view and great amenities, comfortable, highly recommend! Bring earplugs, the seagulls squawk at night and there is some street noise. We went to the bar 1 night and ate dinner at the restaurant 1 night. Wonderful service, food and drink. The service is stellar throughout the property.
Beautiful views. Whew Benedict with chorizo was delicious.
We had reserved an outdoor table for my wife’s birthday. They advised us this was not guaranteed. They placed us in an over flow room at a table for two with our party of three. We had to asked to be moved to a larger table. The occasion was for my wife’s birthday and no acknowledgment of the occasion was ever mentioned. The restaurants seem to be markedly understaffed but our server was very good. We have been there before but very disappointed in this experience for a special occasion.
Great view and good food
The menu is super limited and not worth the price nor worth ordering unless you know exactly what you want. Look at menu prior to booking reservation.
Thanks t was so loud that we had to leave just after ordering drinks.
Such a cute and elegant vibe. Everything is beautiful including the views, decor, ambience, and food is delish! So cute!!!! Will be back!
Our server Casey was fantastic, and had great recommendations. The food and wine was excellent!
My partner and I decided to check this place out today for lunch and it definitely did not disappoint. The view way incredible, the wine selection had something for everyone, and our server Mandy was friendly, knowledgeable, and she made our experience amazing. The Crab BLTA is delicious and the fries that come with it were perfectly crispy. I will be back!
La comida muy rica, el mesero muy atento y muy bonita vista al mar.
The Valencia is beautiful and they have a great view of the ocean. The crab BLT was to die for.
The service and staff were excellent, some of the food (poke nachos & desserts) were exceptional while most of it was average (boring Turkey sandwich, over cooked salmon, unimaginative offerings), while the lobster sandwich was sub par. The ambiance was lovely, great views, great appointments. Some of the public spaces were untidy. The 5% surcharge for fair wages is absurd when the total was close to $70 per head before drinks and tip.
Everything was awesome. The server my daughter and I had was very attentive and kind.
The first Waiter we had could care less.... we were there for over an hour waiting for the food which is fine, we understand that places are short staffed. He only passed by once to check and we only got one round of drinks. I had to literary go grab another waiter and ask for a second round.
Fabulous Food on The Outside Patio.
Our waiter was fantastic, very traditional in describing items on the menu he thought we might like. The restaurant is very expensive and is not quite in synch with the ambience, which has, as expected, kind of a beach vibe. The self-parking, at $30 for two hours, is absurd.
We sat out on the patio overlooking the ocean. Perfect weather, perfect service. Hamburgers, salad, cocktails and coffee. I had my 97-y.o. mother with me. They made everything easy for her, including valet parking even tho it wasn’t being offered due to COVID.
We have been going the La V since 1963 - and rarely been disappointed.
We came for breakfast and had a great meal with a few disappointing exceptions. I ordered The egg white frittata and it was absolutely delicious. We all shared a cinnamon roll from Sugar and Scribe that was frankly a bit disappointing. It was not soft and moist like you would expect, it tasted like it had been sitting around for a while. My mom loved her Belgian waffle and my sister was very happy with the smoked salmon plate.
My mom loved her coffee and commented on how good it was, but I ordered a decaf and had the opposite experience.
Our server was very good and very kind, but towards the end of the meal they seemed to forget about us and it took quite a long time to get the check. I had to ask at least three times. We were not in any major rush so we didn’t hassle anyone but sadly it took at least 20 minutes to get them to clear our plates and then another at least 10 minutes for the check to finally arrive. All that said, on the hall it was a very nice experience and we would definitely go back. The spot is so beautiful and looking out over the pool on the ocean can’t be beat.
They were very accommodating and gave us the best table for our engagement celebration! Beautiful view and great food
We had lunch on the deck, and found it enjoyable, but our server was not the best. One of us got the cobb salad, which was served with no dressing, and desperately needed some. We finally flagged down another of the wait staff who was able to correct the oversight, but our server was no where to be seen and made no effort to check on us to make sure our food came out as we ordered. He did finally check on us later and we ordered a glass of wine to share, but once again had to flag down someone else to get our refill. I will say that the tuna “natchos “ were fabulous, but at least one of the lunchtime servers at lunch on Wed needs a refresher course in”serving.”
Beautiful view and wonderful food
Beautiful location overlooking the ocean . Excellent. Service
My daughter and I had a lovely lunch and loved the ambiance. However, upon first entering the hostess station we were met with a very rude and unprofessional and unwelcoming hostess. We came in very happy and told her we had a reservation and she was very abrupt and quick to be rid of us still not sure why. She offered us a table that was backed up against a persons back. I understand the area is tight but the way it was presented was “ sorry that’s it.” We could go inside but a decision had to be made. Thank goodness the server that was beside her was so kind and helpful and made us feel so welcome.
A hostess is the first person you meet and she should be happy and kind and welcoming and yours was none of these. Wrong job for that girl, totally
Beautiful views and setting. Food looked average. Expected more of a presentation to match the scenery. Overall fine.
Food quality was excellent. Ambiance inside was fantastic with an ocean view and a fireplace. Hostess was terrible - snooty and unaccomodating despite us having reservations.
It was my Husband's 60th Birthday , so I wanted to do something special. We were not disappointed. Great food, had a great view of the ocean! My Husband was very pleased.
Just for fun
The ambiance and service were on point. We will definitely come back.
Best lunch spot in La Jolla!
Had the lobster sandwich and have to say, it was very disappointing. It was all shredded claw meat with none of the tail which is much more delicious. At $24 one would expect it to be better quality.
We went to the Med for our anniversary with reviews saying it was romantic with great views. Nope. Little
tiny balcony with a lot of noise and absolutely no dress code. Paper menus, no cushions on the chairs. Not even a flower on the outdoor tables. If I was coming in from the beach, I might dine there for lunch. Go to Eddie V’s or Anywhere else for a special occasion.
Ate outside with ocean view. Terrific ambience. Ahi Poke salad excellent. Will go there again.
You can never go wrong with coming to The Med at La Valencia. I come here twice a month just because and the service is always 10/10!
We went for dinner on Mother’s Day. The food was amazing and so was the view. The service was spectacular. The drinks were unbelievable. We will definitely come back!
Went there for Mother's day. Very expensive and the food was not good at all. Very disappointed. The lambs was overcooked and barely warm, the side dishes were cold, they messed up the kids orders. Will never go back.
Beautiful ambiance, fabulous food and service. Excellent wine list and great cocktails!
