Good food! However the menu was not extensive, could use a few more choices in each catagory. More beef choices! The Caesar is excellent but too pricy! $44.00 for two Caesar salads!
We have joined friends there for High Tide Breakfast for years and just love it. This past Sunday was King Tide so very busy. Although we had made a reservation a month earlier we still had a 45 minute wait, and then we 3 adults were seated to a huge table including 6 children under 3 (yes, I counted). We asked for another table, as there were 2 empty next to each other.
Food is great, service is great, and of course ambiance is amazing. Seems like a bit of attention could go to the placement of certain items that are just not reachable for the normal person, like the breads behind the cheeses and sometimes the sweet breads.
Thank you--see you next month!
Our first visit to the Marine Room for a High Tide Sunday Brunch. We were not disappointed! The food was excellent, fresh orange juice, really good coffee, and unmatched service, interspersed with waves crashing against the windows. It could not have been any better!
Always on point for the high tide breakfast. Great choices and delicious options. Staff from the managers to the wait staff are excellent. A must do in San Diego. We love treating ourselves to the outstanding meal and experience.
I have been here multiples times over the last several months, for both personal and business occasions. Our various dishes were all very good. Our server was efficient but not particularly friendly. Almost dismissive.
It was my birthday but my Mom had never been there so it was really special for her. She is 101 and asked if we could go there for 102 birthday in June. Of course we will be back
“High Tide Breakfast” at The Marine Room is always a fun experience. Great staff. They do a good job of managing the crowds. Nice food selection. Obviously a fabulous view. For the price, I would have liked to see more seafood, hotter hot foods, and more variety among the cold salads instead of three grain-based salads. Delicious Truffled Eggs Benedict. (My husband says to add that he would have liked scrambled eggs!). But the dessert buffet was fabulous! Try the hibiscus-lemon tart. OMG. Kudos to the staff. Wonderful service.
We go every year for High Tide Breakfast.About 13 years. The high tides are the real show.I didn't feel that the service was attentive.I think there wasn't enough wait staff.I didn't even know who our waiter was.I had to flag down a staffer for the bill. The hostess was great, she was very accomodating.
Very elegant setting but a bit difficult for handicapped people to maneuver in a buffet setting such as the High Tide Breakfast. Interesting and very wide selection or brunch type food to choose from on the tables. Quite expensive at $60 per person.
This is our second high tide breakfast buffet at the Marine Room. We enjoyed the waves as they crash on the windows. The food and the staff were great. We may well go again next year.
Love Marine Room. It’s #1 on my list on San Diego
Mostly flawless experience. Two appetizers were not up to the standard of the rest of the meal. Entrees were perfect. It was a special birthday celebration and no one was disappointed. Service was impeccable.
Special birthday for our adult son. We had a window table, as requested; excellent food and service; and complimentary birthday dessert plate that served all 3 of us because we were so full from the rest of the meal. Wonderful experience in all respects!
Very nice restaurant with excellent food. Been there for Sunday Brunch, Hide Tide Dinners and normal dinners. Always receive excellent service and food. Highly recommend this to anyone wanting to dine at a romantic restaurant on the water.
The Marine Room is out favorite restaurant in San Diego. The ambience and decor are peaceful and the scene is the best.
The service is always beyond professional and your lucky you may get Dimitrios to make your table-side
Ceasar's............ its the best anywhere.
This is a VERY well managed top shelf restaurant.
Loved my dining experience at The Marine Room. First class service and world class views of the ocean.
It was very nice. Waiter Rick treated us well on our anniversary.
The food was great and very delicious. Our waiter wasn’t terrible. But he was not personable at all. He didn’t take time to explain the menu at all. It seemed like he didn’t want to be there which was really off-putting to my wife who’s birthday we were celebrating.
NYE 2019 - lovely!
Came for New Years great service and good was amazing .
I really dislike the 4% surcharge for payroll. Be honest and just raise your prices instead of trying to disguise it.
Truly a magical amazing place from entering restaurant to the wonderful desert. Went for New Years Eve. had requested a ocean view table. Seated at an amazing table with view of ocean and sand beach from all directions. The service was impeccable but not annoying! The food was amazing, lobster cooked perfectly with an array sauces and my hubby loved the steak it melted in his mouth. The deserts were an array of delights and each bite was better then the next. Will definitely put this great restaurant as
our Favorite Special Occasion top!!! Loved all the staff, experienced, kind and not stuffy! ❤️
Food was cooked very well- perhaps a little too pretentious on the garnishes though. Everything was delicious except for the root beer creme brûlée. That had a funny aftertaste.
Ambience is beautiful. Came for high tide breakfast and the Food was just ok nothing to write home about. you are paying for the view. Service also was just ok, didn’t clear plates or refill water until asked for it. If sparkling wine was included then it may be worth the price. Overall Overrated.
The High Tide Breakfast is a unique experience and we thoroughly enjoyed it. The food was very good, with many choices. I especially liked the frittata, the blintzes, and the chocolate mini-desserts. Service could have been better: we had to ask repeatedly before we got coffee and juice refills and fresh silverware after they'd taken away the used pieces.
I'd recommend doing this once if you can afford it, more often if you really love brunch buffets. One warning: Don't expect to see waves crashing against the windows unless a storm is brewing. We were there on a day when the sea was calm. We saw just a little bit of splash, and the effect was more like being on a boat that doesn't rock.
High Tide Breakfast. Exceeded expectations- I did not realize it would be a traditional brunch. Sooooo good! The chocolate swirl French toast was phenomenal! Bucket list✅
All in the party enjoyed what they ordered from seared ahi to lobster tail to branzino to filet mignon. Diego was an excellent server as were all the expediters. Can't get that view anywhere except at the Marine Room. We were celebrating a 76th Birthday and loved the complimentary chocolate mousse cake. Also ordered creme brûlée and lemon tart which were excellent. And to top it off, the Chef treated us to the most scrumptious candies.
Buffet breakfast was good but not great, quite average, which we found disappointing as they have a French chef. Of course the view is to die for, but we expected a higher quality of food. Additionally, I made the reservation stating it was my 60th Bday & requested a window seat. We got put 3 sections back from the window & they were not that busy at 10:30 am, quite dissapounting, so we will not be back.
Very fun high tide breakfast. Service was excellent. Buffet offered several choices. A treat
Sent back the sword fish as it was still frozen, there was two mix up with the entree and appetizer
took a party of ten -- five older couples-- and we made a reservation several weeks ahead and asked for a window seat and set the time at 5 pm when they started seating just to get a window location in the front of the restaurant. But we got seated on the side of the room next to a side window -- not facing the surf. Disappointed-- people coming after us got the seats facing the surf. Not too happy about this after making my friends all show up at 5pm just to get a table facing the surf. THere is one round table for six people rignt in the corner facing the surf which is very nice but I can understand too small for ten people. Moral of the story is stay at six people max - be there at 5;00 pm and ask for this round corner table--
Food was good-- small portions and I thought the fish dishes were over priced a bit - and not too many beef style steaks -- but overall the food was good and the drinks were inventive -- we will be back with only six people next time!
Too bad they stopped requiring ties and jackets though-- I liked the old formal setting-- it was nice that they did not impose an 18% tip on our table -- but they do have a 4% surcharge they say to pay the higher labor costs mandated by the state of California. I tipped 20% -- so really 24% given the surcharge-- if I had thought about it longer I would have done 16% to make the 20% tip level. Clever these owners. If you really like money-- probably not the place for you. Cost me $300 for a few drinks in the bar, a couple drinks at dinner and meals and appetizers for two people -plus I think it was $15 to park as well--
Only flaw was Service was slow, over all Ford was really good
It was very crowded for Christmas, to be expected. Not so much the restaurant’s fault, but the tables near us were very loud, walking around, standing etc., it was all pretty distracting. Our server was good and the food was delicious. It’s just so overpriced.
The food was to die for. It was served so well and the help was outstanding. Our seat views of the ocean were super. Thanks for a great experience.
Service was horrible. Took 15 minutes to get a refill on just a soda. Only got one piece of bread and it took a long time to get our dinner. Way over priced for the service. I will never go back.
Christmas afternoon was especially busy. We salute the Marine Room chef, kitchen staff and serving staff for providing an excellent experience. Our six meals were creative and delicious. The service was friendly and efficient. We have dined here on Christmas in the past and will do so again in the future.
