This was a great anniversary dinner for me and my wife. The food was delicious, the staff and location was perfect.
Waterfront dining at its best. Incredible food along with a beautiful view.
My husband’s steak came 20 minutes after we were served (our small, cold lobster) and it was “butterflied”! Supposed to be a thick juicy filet Mignon and looked like a well done hamburger. We have always loved the Marine room... the view, the service and the food but I’m in no hurry to go back again
This was our first visit to The Marine Room. Exceed expectations in every way. Thoroughly enjoyed the evening, the food, the wine and the service. We enjoyed having a table by the window, however I don’t think there is a bad table in the place. Beautiful view no matter where you were seated. The food was amazing and the service impeccable to say the least.
Went for restaurant week and food was excellent. Yes a little pricey but to be expected and it was a special occasion. They gave us a window table as requested. Overall great food and view.
Friendly professional staff service, good food, beautiful view
Great venue, brunch was good. (Slightly overpriced for the quality)
My wife and I went to the high tide breakfast on the 21st. Everything was very good and despite the crowd we were see it fairly quickly with reservations. Bob
Came for SD restaurant week and had a wonderful experience. The venue is beautiful with views of the ocean waves. Went with a group of 8 people and the service and food was great.
Great special occasion! I was exactly what we were expecting, another beautiful Sunday.
High tide breakfast was great as usual. Service was excellent
Had brunch on my birthday at high tide. The waves were splashing full force against the windows, it was spectacular!
Excellent food (buffet style), service was phenomenal, my coffee and orange juice were never half empty, an the waves crashing on the windows made for a birthday celebration my wife will remember for years.
Fantastic! The food was incredible! Not large portions, but I still felt full and satisfied, and the quality was through the roof. Not to mention the fact that the ocean is right there...Don't worry; the din of the ocean is well suppressed by the walls and windows of this establishment. I took my wife on a special date and we were incredibly pleased.
The ambiance of the Marine Room is wonderful, beautifully set tables, polite servers, and the amazing view of the ocean from every table. The food has usually been very good, but tonight did not stand up to it's previous reputation. My husband and I both ordered steaks. Mine was tough and my husband's was grisally. I didn't notice truffle being an ingredient with the potatoes on the menu, but in asking the waitress she told me it was, but called a name I wasn't familiar with. I do not like truffle oil, and it was on all of my food. The waitress apologized while I tried to get the truffle flavor off of everything on my plate.
Paying for the atmosphere. Food mediocre and service was slow...
The picture windows with a view of the ocean waves was a nice, however, our table was on the other side and not near the window even though we requested it on the reservation. The food presentation was beautiful and I was very impressed. The quality and taste of the food was average. Unfortunately our server was so busy with 2 other larger table, so we were forgotten. Also, I was disappointed that I wasn’t finished with my dessert, however, my plate was cleared while I was in the bathroom. I let the server know my disappointed and he apologized and brought 2 pieces of salted chocolate. For the price and service I wouldn’t recommend it.
Beautiful setting and great food. Seafood selection and preparation was awesome.
We had a business dinner and everyone of my guests were happy and delighted with the taste and presentation. My only suggestion would be to have that pistachio bread that came with the soup as your main table bread since it is not too filling but very delicious. I took a bite since it did not come with my Cesar salad and I forgot to ask for it but I will next time. Thank you.
My wife took me here for my birthday. Backing up, we had a reservation there for our anniversary in September but, when we arrived, the restaurant was closed due to an issue in the kitchen. I got a call a day or two later apologizing and offering a guaranteed window seat and some other perks on our next visit. They were true to their word. We had a beautiful seat on the window and had a fabulous meal. We shared the Caesar salad for two and each had the diver's scallops. Both were excellent. Our server did a very good job and was very engaging. The noise level was low and we enjoy a wonderfully relaxing meal with the opportunity for great conversation. We'll be back.
The view from the restaurant was amazing. The food was very good, the portions were a little light. We dined for our anniversary and enjoyed the quiet atmosphere.
This was our 3rd time celebrating our anniversary dinner. They set us up with a perfect window table. Acknowledged our anniversary made us feel special. Our waiter was great along with our dinner.
Great location. Fantastic ocean view. Excellent service. Nice wine list. Ok food.
The appetizer was not impressive. The dinner entree was good but nothing exceptional. Dessert was good but nothing I would crave and return for. So, for about $100 a head (including alcohol), I can find better.
This place really is known for their location and view. It really is fantastic. Very impressive. Unfortunately, this is not enough for me.
It was top notch. Everything from the ambience to the service to the food. Exactly what you’d expect at that price point. Excellent.
I would not recommend this restaurant. I sent the cocktail back: it tasted like straight alcohol. The dessert was plain. The main course and the appetizer were good, the salad had too much dressing. The room was gloomy, and the whole place is overrated. There are better restaurants in La Jolla
Great service..The best waiter ever..I think his name is phillip...We highly recommend him waiting on you..The view is awesome and the food is scrumptious.
$19 per person Caesar salad that was mediocre at best. I ordered the chef seafood special for $54 that had one scallop, 1 shrimp and brandozzine fish that was horrible. I would not go back. Sad thing is, I had lunch at the Crack Shack, had a salad that was about $12 and it was way better. I understand that you’re paying for the view, but it’s not worth it.
We have eaten here many times over the course of 30 years and enjoyed the food. This time was a disappointment. Some wasn't under their control. We always have their halibut or salmon, both of which were listed on their website.
We were told they couldn't get the halibut, due tothe government shutdown keeping it from coming in from Norway. That made sense to us, so we ordered the salmon. It was presented nicely, but the red sauce accompanying it wasn't a good pairing to us. Salmon was just tasteless. They gave us a dessert for my birthday which was ok and very nice of them. Jonathan's service very good, but bus boys didn't refill waters until after several requests. Such a disappointing event. And, count on it costing 30% more than 2 years ago. We hope it isn't becoming a tourist trap. View was magnificent.
Food was ok, but not with the high prices
Very offended that they stuck us 2 tables back from window when I made the bday reservation for my 93-yr old, hard of hearing dad. I requested one of the 2 window tables & was told that one was for a proposal & the other for a food critic, which obviously wasn't true. Will not return.
For our 50th anniversary, we were looking for a restaurant that not only had excellent food, but was classy as well. Where we could dress up and not look out of place. The Marine Room fit the bill perfectly. The food was top notch and the presentation was outstanding. And the server was appropriately attentive. This is not the place for casual dining or to "eat it and beat it". But it's just the place for special occasions.
Super, as always, food service and ambiance all outstanding
The view was spectacular. We had the high tide breakfast buffet. The food was just okay, but not worth $58 a person.
High tide breakfast food was great the view fantastic and the service was superb. The Marine Room has been a favorite for years and for years to come I’m sure
Lovely tasting menu and beautiful ambience for New Years!
Unfortunately it missed the mark for us this visit. We sat at the bar while we were waiting for our table and experienced a bartender that had no personality. When he brought us our drinks he made no eye contact and as we thanked him he just walked away without saying a word.
My ribeye special was odd in that it was barely 1/2 inch thick. Never have I seen a steak in a high end restaurant cut so thin! While it was very good I just couldn't get past how oddly thin it was.
Always a great view and our waiter was outstanding, but at this price point they need to be close to 100% on everything and sadly this was not the case. Not sure if we will go back because I don't go out for fine food just because the view is nice.
My beautiful date loved the view and her steak. She especially enjoyed the dirty martinis
We celebrated our 30 years of love. We had the seared Ahi and The Elk. Both were outstanding, we split them. Then we shared the dessert sampler. Just wonderful.
Room was cold.
Celebrated my husband’s retirement with our son, daughter-in-law, 15-month grandson, and dear friend. Food snd service were lovely, and they were very accommodating for the baby.
