If you want to have a relaxing dinner and queue yourself up for a fight on paying for valet, this is the perfect place!
Spent $178 on dinner (for two) and got berated and embarrassed while picking up our car as a bonus by the valet.
I guess this place caters to tourists vs those that pay local tax; I really am remised to spend almost $200 on a rude & stuffy place like this.
The views of the ocean are amazing. The food was very good. Prices were as expected, but it is pricey. The service was good, just not overly warm or welcoming.
Loved this restaurant. Took my kids on vacation and my son found this restaurant. So glad he did. Awesome experience.
Food and setting were outstanding.
However, there were tons of disgusting flying bugs in the women's restroom.
Brought out-of-towners here to show them the high tide dinner. I’ve been before when the tide is 4-5ft. This was 7+ and it was stunning.
Spectacular restaurant, dining room right on the water with waves spraying the windows. Food was terrific as was the service. Looking forward to returning when in the area.
Excellent service, fantastic food, perfect ambiance and the waves superb.!
Couldn’t have asked for a better evening. On our top dining list in San Diego.
While a lovely place to eat the food served was inedible and awful. Never experienced anything like this in the many fine dining experiences we've had all over the country. A complete rip off.
Great views and food. Service was excellent. Highly recommend it.
Fantastic experience. Three generations experiencing this together and we all loved the food, the view at high tide and the service.
It is a special treat to enjoy a meal at The Marine Room during high tide with waves lapping against the restaurant windows!
This was supposed to be a special evening for a birthday. It ended up still being nice but painful. They were out of several of the main entrees that we wanted to order. We ended up having to ask for a custom plate to me made to get something of what we wanted. Not the way to celebrate your wife's birthday.
Regardles of the window seating request not being fulfilled, the overall experience was a 10/10
We had the best seat in the house, with windows overlooking La Jolla Shores and La Jolla cove. We were celebrating our birthdays and the Marine Room did not disappoint! Impeccable service, outstanding food, and amazing views, including a spectacular sunset. Would highly recommend.
The restaurant was great, right on the water. Amazing
I felt like I was at the beach without getting any sand in my toes! I wondered who envied the others more: us watching the swimmers paddling in the surf, or them seeing us enjoy our gourmet meal in comfort. Luckily we can easily do both in the same day.
Step daughter visiting from out of town.
Great dining event and great waiter, Jonathan (USC Alumni, Physics). Will return. It made our trip very, very special.
Too bad we did not get Open Table Points!!!
We had reservations at 530 pm and weren’t seated until about 540 when we finally asked. Everything else was great, just frustrating to be kept waiting.
Exceptional experience watching the sunset! Food was amazing!
I was excited to finally dine at he Marine room and was very disappointed. We were seated behind the hostess and next to the lounge area instead of main dining room. It took 12 minutes before a server greeted us and no one brought us bread until our salads arrived. Waiter not attentive to our table but yes to the only other one next to us that arrived later. Food pretty but fish undercooked and not that tasty. Will not return or recommend.
Phenomenal experience as always at the Marine Rom!!!
Our table next to the window view of the beach watching the sunset over the delicious seafood and wonderful wine was memorable. The wait staff was welcoming and attentive that made for a special evening. Many thanks to everyone at The Marine Room.
We worried and questioned the hostesses if we were underdressed and were told twice they would “hide us in a corner”. After being seated we observed numerous customers in more casual dress being seated at more prominent tables. We felt we were made uncomfortable for being considerate.
I made a reservation for my husband's 63rd birthday and our 1st time in La Jolla. The Marine Room met ans exceeded all our expectations. Food was fabulous, ocean views soothing and waiter was great (Jennifer). We will be back for a high tide dinner in the near future.
Unique venue at high tide. Pricy, portions European. Great experience.
My wife and I had reservation at 8pm, we wanted a window seat so we could have a better view. We only waited about 30 min which past by very quick. Once we got seated the staff and there service was outstanding. We ordered the spindrift signature meal which was delicious as well as beautifully decorated. Was pricey but you pay for what you get. DAVID R. our server was outstanding he was very informative and you could tell he loved his job, he even took a picture of us and said he did it ask the time. Definitely coming back in a couple weeks.
Outstanding food , atmosphere, and service. Our waiter and staff did a truly fantastic job can’t wait to go back thank you Marine room.
I have been to The Marine Room many times over the years. They continue to maintain their reputation for authentic, organic cuisine, top-notch service and an unbeatable, breathtaking view. Their menu contains not only traditional seafood items, but also one-off selections (my husband ordered the elk, delicious!) and tasteful, inspired side dishes such as black quinoa and sticky black rice. I highly recommend their high-tide brunch and/or high-tide dinner. It is a truly unique experience to dine while watching the surf crash against the glass next to your table!
Seafood was delicious. Service was exceptional. View was breath taking.
Waited a little too long for our table, but worth the wait!
Food was very good!! Very artistic presentation!! Tables very close together and very expensive!! View from windows at high tide made it all worth while!! Absolutely amazing!!
Always overpriced, but much better than our last visit (many years ago). Good service that follow the rules (leeaves plates until all are finished, asks before refilling or doing something). We felt a touch rushed, so asked to slow it down, and they did. Food came quickly, almost too quickly for a leisurely, expensive meal. Lamb chops were excellent. Seafood trilogy also. Berry tart and chocolate dish were the best of the dessert sampler. Tasty. Great view, of course. Building is dated and a few thing are cheesy (scallop sconces) or old (turned wood railings). I think this would be best for a cocktail on the upper level.
Outstanding evening. High tide rolling in, a full moon overhead. Fabulous service by attentive Edgar and his assistant. Food exquisitely prepared. Service very unobtrusive but spot on.
Love dining here, kudos to Chef Bernard and his staff; always a perfect meal in a perfect setting.
This storied restaurant continues to deliver it all!
--Gorgeous setting with the surf coming right up to the restaurant
--Nice, quiet atmosphere permitting easy conversation.
The food was amazing. The lobster was incredible! The view at the window table was excellent especially at high tide.
The male host was great but the female blonde hostess was rude. Our server was fabulous and made our anniversary very special! She and Robert (?) more than made up for the rudeness of the hostess. I would highly recommend.
Bryan was our server and he was an awesome person very polite and every way
We had a fantastic meal for my daughter's 16th birthday. Food was excellent, service was very good and the view was amazing. Only thing that could have made this evening any better was if it hadn't been overcast. We got a little peak at the sun just before it dipped below the horizon, but that was all.
This is the BEST restaurant I have ever been to. Fabulous food, service and view.
Outstanding food, service, views. Happy hour drink and app deals, seafood (salmon, scallops, crabcake).
