About The Majestic Restaurant
The Majestic Restaurant carries on the Kansas City traditions of great food and great jazz. We serve brunch Saturday and Sunday, lunch Monday-Friday, and dinner seven nights a week. Featuring Kansas City's best dry-aged beef, chops, and seafood and located in the historic Fitzpatrick Saloon building at 10th and Broadway in downtown Kansas City, The Majestic Restaurant offers a true Kansas City dining experience like no other. Enjoy a great steak and fine wine in our main dining room alongside a grand bar dating back to 1910, or have dinner in our lower level jazz club, the site of an actual speakeasy during prohibition, all while listening to some of Kansas City's best jazz musicians seven nights a week. An extensive wine list, creative cocktails by nationally renowned bartender Shawn Moriarty, a list of over 100 whiskeys, and a sinful selection of delectable homemade desserts provide the perfect accompaniment to the meal and the music.

The Majestic Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
Very disappointed, expectations were much higher for all the hype around this establishment. Steak was good, but not outstanding. Service was an “F”, waiter was short with us. First visit to KC and Majestic we explained that, was put out out by my asking questions. Didn’t even ask us if we wanted desert???? So we didn’t either. Too bad, my experience and dinner shall pass, but hopefully my review will have some lingering affect.
Great spinach artichoke dip! The best I've ever had.
Took the whole family for apps/desert and drinks. Overall decent experience, found out once we were seated and ready to order that unless you order from the dinner menu you aren't really supposed to make reservations and sit in the "dining room" with the live jazz. We were still served and the experience was pretty good. I might have missed the "must order full dinner/supper" on the web site so I'll say it was my over site, but still would be helpful to see a bigger notice of that info.
Family friendly and the Jazz trio Saturday night was good.
Delicious steak for lunch, and many brunch choices available as well. We had a party of 5 to honor a 90-year old relative. For late lunch time, it was extremely quiet which was just what we needed. I'm sure it's very lively at night! The hotel decor is a pretty time capsule from the early 1900's. Easy parking nearby and a nice covered awning to drop off Grandma. Service was just right.
Food and cocktails were great. Server was outstanding. The reservation process is horrible. The biggest reason I chose this place for Dinner is because they have Jazz here. I didn't realize when making this reservation through opentable(the only way to make a reservation according to the manager) I would have to call in order to confirm a seat downstairs where they were playing Jazz. Instead of being sat in the Jazz area we were sat on the ground level in the bar. Why would anyone make reservations to sit in a a bar? I asked if we could get seating downstairs and was told no. 6 of the next 7 parties that walked in were all sat downstairs. Did all of them call to confirm a spot there? After dinner my date and I went down to have desert at the bar downstairs and for thirty minutes there were two unopened tables un-sat. This was upsetting because immediately prior to walking down I asked about getting a table down there to have desert to which I was rudely told no. Bottom line is no one makes a reservation at a place known for having Jazz music in order to sit in a bar and not listen to Jazz while dining. I will try this place again but I guess prior to doing so I will need to reserve on open table then call.
We made reservations 8 days in advance. We arrived 45 minutes early. We waited patiently, the host checked on us and confirmed that we were waiting for "downstairs" seating. (live music area). 1 1/2 hours later, (only 45 minutes past reservation time) he sat us along a long booth in the upstairs lobby area. He then said we didn't specify that we wanted downstairs when we reserved our date, even though he led us to believe we were waiting for downstairs...
The Majestic has never disappointed -- the food is superb with a small filet that was perfect for my preference. What's amazing is not only the quality of the beef but also the perfection of preparation -- always spot on. If you want to have a truly wonderful meal -- the Majestic is the place.
On this visit (with my sister and brother-in-law from Arizona) we were fortunate enough to be downstairs with the live music. The atmosphere makes it nearly impossible to leave after enjoying good wine, great food, phenomenal music and an entire crew that knows what to do...how to do it...and a just plain tops in the industry.
When you go to a restaurant that prides theirselves in steaks and you order it medium rare, it should not come out rare almost just warmed up. And then be given the excuse that the grill is new and the cooks are still getting use to it. Also when the steak was served, it was as though it almost lacked seasoning all together. Longhorn Steakhouse would have been a better choice.
Heard a lot of good things about the restaurant. Being from St. Louis wanted to try it. Prime rib was our choice but being there on Sunday night may have gotten the end of the weekend delivery from Saturday. Both pieces of the same cut were different in thickness but both were very tough when done medium rare. Waiter was average but ambiance was awesome and other side dishes and dessert was very good. Great Bourbon tasting menu. Jazz club was closed on Sunday but very quaint space downstairs. Would order other main dishes.
When the reservations were made I specified seating in the downstairs area where the live jazz was playing. That didn't happen. Our waiter did not bring any of his tables bread with their salads but all of the other tables being served by different servers managed to get bread with their meals. The baked potatoes were barely warm and so overcooked that they were sticky and hard to eat. My wife's steak had zero flavor and she only ate 3 bites of it. For the prices that are charged the food is less than fair. We will not ever return. It's a shame because we are always looking for different places to entertain our customers but this for sure will not be one of the places we recommend or take anyone to.
Our first time at The Majestic was fantastic - and we definitely had the "what took us so long" head thump. Cap is a fabulous server who takes a great deal of pride in his craft and takes excellent care of his patrons. The food is expertly prepared, of the highest quality, and delicious. And the building is reminiscent of the good ol' days - of my parents' time. (That's a compliment!) If you also have not tried The Majestic - you need to get moving.
For the price and aged steaks, I've had better steak. My wife and I both had to put salt on the steak as well. That isn't a great sign. To finish, when making our reservation I said the occasion was our anniversary. Not one mention of our anniversary the entire time. No free desert or congratulations. I'm not looking for that, but when you ask during the reservation, what's the point in it? The lobster tail and the ranch on the salad was wonderful. With that said, I wouldn't go back.
A fantastic dining experience. I had the bone-in filet which was so very tasty. This place has an impressive wine list with both old-world and new-world options to choose from. It's a little pricey, so not for every day dining, but perfect for special occasions or a really nice date night. If you call for reservations, you can request seating in the downstairs jazz club. There is live jazz 7 days a week. There is bar and table seating available in the jazz club on a first-come, first serve basis as well.
