Great steakhouse in KC. Quaint little place with plenty of character. Steak was delicious, would definitely go back. The upstairs is like an old school bar with a dining room and the basement is a much cozier and more relaxed atmosphere with nightly jazz (I think it's nightly). The overall feel of both floors is inviting. Recommend!
The dry aged rib eye steaks were awesome, the wait staff were super friendly and helpful.
Great food, Great Setting, An iconic place for KC. It was my first time there for a special event. Certainly will be back
We are fans of the Majestic and consider it one of the best steak houses in town. Brunch is another story. The dining room upstairs was packed very tightly. I assume to avoid seating anyone downstairs. The servers barely had room to serve. Our meal took an incredibly long time to arrive and one had an extremely hot meal while three were room temp. The french toast was a soggy blob. All meals were sub par while very pricey.
Majestic needs to up their brunch game or stick to what they do best which is steaks snd drinks.
This restaurant was amazing..
Clint was are server.. fantastic
Loved the food, music and the downstairs dining...
Thank you for making my anniversary special
Dinner and music were fantastic. Great location to hotel
Had a nice dinner with family. Our server was great!
Excellent food and service. Large portions. Extensive but reasonable wine list and cocktails.
Ask for s table in the downstairs jazz room. Memorable.
Excellent Jazz Venue & Food is very good. Great Historical Bldg to represent years past in KC.
One of the coolest places in KC. Great for brunch or lunch, but make sure you go back in the evening for jazz downstairs!
It is a great environment. Food was solid and our server was great but he was overwhelmed as it seemed the entire wait was as well. We had a reservation but our waiter was triple sat and continued to get more tables so we were left waiting while we saw him all over the restaurant attending to multiple tables. Maybe they were short staffed that night but their wait staff was overwhelmed but did a great irregardless.
This was our second visit to the Majestic for a business meeting and meal. Unfortunately our second visit was not as stellar as the first. Our waiter was slow and not very attentive. He seemed very new and needed additional training in serving. Spilling wine while serving seems an unusual thing for a restaurant of this caliber. It took forever for our appetizer to come to the table. Not sure if that was the waiter or the kitchen.
Food was lackluster. I ordered a bone in Filet and it arrived with grill marks and frankly looked plastic. I ordered it medium rare and it came out rare and cold. Saw the steak at the table next to us and it looked the same. The gentleman ate very little of it.
The kitchen needs to tighten things up alittle. They pride themselves on great steaks.
Maybe it was just an off night.
Food, wine and service was amazing. Kind of strange, but there were multiple gnats or fruit flies that kept flying around our table. We killed 2-3 and still had a couple buzzing around.
I had ordered the waygu ribeye medium and when I had gotten it it was undercooked I'm not one to complain it was still good just little bit raw then I like.
I have eaten at the Majestic several times but this was not a good night for their wagyu steaks. Mine was originally undercooked but was corrected and my date's steak was tough. I always enjoy the Majestic but Friday night's meal was disappointing as I brought my friend there for his birthday... it was also his first visit to the Majestic.
Our server was wonderful and accommodated us so we could get to theater.
Love the Majestic! Our family of four went for Easter brunch. Both teenagers loved their meals as did my husband and I. Baked french toast was to die for as was the portobello eggs benedict. Service was great, ambience with the live piano player was delightful.
Fabulous, as usual! We go as often as possible and are never disappointed by the food or the service!
Had the bone in fillet and it was cooked perfectly, best in KC. Service was fantastic, jazz bar downstairs was worth the trip
This restaurant is both a jazz-lover's and carnivore's dream - fantastic steaks, great jazz, and exceptional service!
Great food, great Jazz and exceptional cocktails. Anytime you see a Vieux Carre on the cocktail menu, you know you are in the right place. The staff made this tourist feel very welcome.
Okay experience...staf was a little used car salesman like..oversold steaks and fries
Everything was great until we were moved to make room for a big party and I think we were forgotten about by the servers.
Great date night steakhouse. Food was very good and music was very nice. Very fun night out in KC! Bread pudding for dessert was excellent!
I took my fiance here for her birthday. Live jazz in the down stairs jazz club paired with wine & steak made for a truly special night.
Always reliable, food is fantastic, creative and service is always reliable.
Trip Advisor has Majestic as the #2 steakhouse in KC. We were disappointed, for we've had much better steaks at Texas Roadhouse or Longhorn. Majestic doesn't even serve bread with the meal--a great feature of both TR and Longhorn.
Great steaks, great service, in a historic building. When in Kansas City, don't hesitate to go here. Thoroughly enjoyed our experience!
It’s a treat to have dinner in the basement with live music. The food is excellent and the ambiance is unapologetically old-fashioned, although don’t let this latter observation deter you; it’s part of the charm rather than a detraction. Prices are high, so plan on $100 per person, but the steak is the best in town and the staff treats you like nobility.
visited during a one night stay in KC. we chose it due to the live music, great looking menu and the reviews...we were NOT disappointed. the service was great, the food was amazing and we had a lot of fun. we dined upstairs, then went downstairs for the music. a great time!
Had reservation for downstairs and could not be more excited! Our server was profession but no too intrusive. Steak was flavor packed and the caeser salad was the best I have ever had. Thank you for the great anniversary!
Great food, great music! A perfect spot to meet with friends.
We decided to splurge on an expensive steak while in Kansas City, which is known for its great steaks. We were ushered into the basement speakeasy (where the jazz is played) but it was way too early for jazz. We ordered cocktails but our waiter brought our salads very soon after the cocktails were brought, and we wanted time first before we ordered wine and had our salads. As soon as we had finished our salads, the main course (steaks) arrived, but we still hadn't finished our cocktails. We felt very rushed--this is not how meals are sequenced in a good restaurant. Our steaks very absolutely not worth $43 each. One had a vein of that hard, white grizzle through it (which makes it called a "vein steak"), and fat and grizzle elsewhere, and it was very chewy, as in, chew for 3-4 minutes per bite. The other was a little better but still not up to the standards of a good steak. We complained and the waiter comped a glass of wine, but the entire steak should have been comped (or the entire meal). We were told that a substandard steak "slips through" once in a while. That's not an excuse for a high-end restaurant. We told the maitre 'd about it on the way out but all they did was apologize (and give us the "slips through" excuse). I could have had three good meals at Outback Steak for the price we paid for a subpar meal at this place. Very overpriced and quite underwhelming.
Excellent service and great food. I'll be back soon.
6 people ordered steak, only 1 received it the way they asked. Ordered appetizers that were never delivered. It smells like they allow smoking.
Enjoyed dinner here with my daughter before a concert at the Kauffman Performing Arts Center. We both enjoyed steak dinners and the chocolate cream pie for dessert. Attentive waitstaff and enjoyed the live piano music.
Great experience. The food was wonderful and wine list extensive. Our waiter Tyler was excellent!
Everything about this experience was wonderful. Food, atmosphere and waitstaff made for an exceptional Birthday dinner.
Great steaks cooked correctly, tasty salads and sides.
