Service is very slow, brunch was ok, they ran out of the smoked salmon, by the time they refreshed we had decided to leave.
The customer service at our Sunday brunch was amazing! The waiters were very responsive and polite. The manager, Isaac, came by our table to see how everything was and chatted with us for a few minutes. At least five people working there wished me a happy birthday. It was very enjoyable!
It was a nice night, we were seated after our movie so it was about 9:30pm. The Service was good, the food was ok, not great. Good selection of adult beverages. Overall it was a good experience, I will go back for the movie and a drink but will pass on dining.
Food was mediocre. We come here weekly mainly for breakfast and lunch. We always have had good experience in the food department. But my husbands filet mignon was not tasty and rubbery. Food came Luke warm as well. My sea bass came Luke warm and plate look like it had been sitting out for a while.
Any stars given are utterly due to the friendly staff only. They were accommodating and handled the food disaster well with free champagne and many apologies. It was my birthday and my chicken schnitzel came out raw. Not 1/2 cooked, completely raw on the inside. Revolting. It happened to another member of our party as well. Tempura vegetarian dish came out with a stray calamari included. Burger was overdone. Everyone else was very “meh” about their $18 poke. Thankfully our group is hilarious and good spirited so the night wasn’t ruined but I can’t see myself going back after that stomach-turning experience unless I knew they had completely overhauled their kitchen staff training. Such a bummer (and frankly slightly embarrassing) for me to bring guests out of their way for such a disappointing meal. Too bad as the atmosphere, decor and noise levels were great.
Place is an amazing experience- great food, service, and fun!
Waited 1+ hour for a salad. Food arrived 5 minutes before show time - didn’t get a chance to taste it. 6:00 reservation, no food until 7:15, and then only the salad. Manager comp’d meal, but we left hungry and disappointed. However, the food at other tables looked delicious.
Taco Tuesday was not a good value at $25 and the service was just OK. I love The Lot overall and I am not sure where they are headed. They seem to be grappling with a strategy and focus.
We see that the Lot in La Jolla needs more customers.... I also seen they are now offering discounts...too bad as we really enjoy the movies , happy hours and Taco Tuesday’s!
Hope it can be saved....
The Lot has an outstanding Manager. He is truly a professional and with one gesture ensured our returning to the restaurant. The waitstaff is skilled at what they do and it's a pleasure to have waiter like this take care of the table.
The Lot is for casual dining.
The food was good and I look forward to trying different dishes. It's a perfect place for dinner if you're going to The Conrad for a concert - Just across the street and parking is validated.
Great salad entrees, service was excellent, I highly recommend this place for lunch.
It's a great place to have right across the street from the Conrad Performing arts Center... and they offer a discount. For a somewhat pricey place, the service should be a little more high-end. The food was good.
Beware that Tuesday evening is Taco Tuesday, complete with mariachi music, tacos, lots of people, children, dogs, ... not a place for a quiet, relaxing chat! But other than the noise and activity, the service was acceptable, the food was excellent quality but short on taste (salmon, in particular). It was cooked perfectly- not raw and not over cooked - but it could have used some butter and fresh lemon. Had to ask for the lemon which was really silly! My husband’s sea bass was excellent in all respects. The restaurant is noisy and busy and the bar seems to be a definite attraction. Servers were sweet and well-meaning but clearly overworked. Being forgotten seems to have been somewhat of an epidemic!
We really do love The Lot in our community, and we hope they continue to be successful but it might appear doubtful. Happy Hour offerings have dwindled to a precious few..to quote a song. The management/staff need to answer OR return their phone calls. They also need to be more specific with information on their website such as "WHAT TIME Taco Tuesday begins.....simple but important things. Also, "No Problem" is not an appropriate response to "Thank you"....anywhere. If it were a "problem" why would we want to be there....
Such an amazing place for date night, whether you love movies or not, but especially if you do. The staff is so friendly and professional, the former a bit surprising for La Jolla. Ambiance is better than lots of high end restaurants in the area.
Our server Armond was informative and efficient.
The cauliflower small plate and chicken balsamic salad was tasty and filling.
My only suggestion was tomato with balsamic and olive oil with lemon was very hard. Tomato was not ripe.
Overall will return.
The food is better with the new chef. We were the only ones in the restaurant and my order was incorrect. The waiter was not solicitous. We tipped well because they provided a nice birthday cake.
Perfect ... so friendly staff and great food
Birthday with group of teens
Great food! Great service! We will keep going back!
A nice vibe in downtown La Jolla. Clean and well appointed. The salmon entrée was good, but nothing special. Seems like salmon is the new chicken. Everybody serves it, but it's almost never much more than grilled with salt and pepper and then covered with a butter something something. It was fine, I would order it again. The arugula salad was wilted and yellowing. It looked like it was well past it's prime and we wondered how something as simple as lettuce would be served if it wasn't up to par. Over/under-cooked meat is subjective, wilted lettuce is just, well, wilted... Super nice server, she was very attentive and responsive.
Great pace. Great service.
Terrible service, no attention to customer.
Beautiful building. We where sat right away. Great service. Can’t wait to back for a movie!
Very disappointed, family of four squeezed onto a small table when larger tables were left empty. Table was only set for two and this was not corrected throughout our meal. Two of us did not have a place setting. Servers were just standing chatting behind us rather than working. Two of us ordered the same meal, one came served in a bowl one came served in a skillet!!! Bizarre. Over priced for the quality of the food. Will not be returning.
The friends and I love the the lot ! The theater service is incredible , and such a cool experience.
The person who seated me failed to check me in, so I received a missed reservation email from Open Table while dining at the restaurant. My server had a lot of tables to cover, so I wouldn't say service was the quickest. It was also pretty noisy, but there was a private event going on with a live band. The menu varied from what was listed on OpenTable, so I had to pick something different than originally planned; unfortunately, they had run out of what I picked as an alternative. What I ultimately ended up ordering was decent, but nothing to rave about.
Above our expectations. Superior quality and service!
Thx! Gran ambiente, buena música, rica comida
Dining great, movie great, service excellent. Bathrooms had an issue... wouldn’t flush. Told the desk and nothing done, Because when we came out of the movie there was still the same problem.
Good food, great service and an inviting atmosphere. Our favorite place for breakfast and an early movie.
Always a great time here at the lot. All the servers and managers are super attentive to our needs. Highly recommended this place for date nights !
Brent and his team really run an amazing business .
The Father's Day BBQ buffet was excellent! My husband and kids loved it.
I would recommend this place to a friend, it's chic and fun. I went on Father's Day it wasn't that busy. They had a buffet. I barley saw the server. She brought me the wrong drink. She never came back I had to ask another server to fix my drink before we went to the movie. My son and I had the NY steaks cooked good, but there was a lot of gristle. The hamburgers were dry and the mac and cheese was cold. It was a lot of money for a mediocre meal.
We arrived. No one to check in our reservation. Finally got seated and they forgot they seated us for 25 minutes. Then the menu was not the same as one on line. Gourmet menu on line; Standard cafe menu onsite. Many things not available on line. Forgot our salad. Horrible experience for my guests birthday. Doesn’t compare to one in Liberty Station which is 5 star excellent. To be fair they discounted our bill 60%..._which is the best indication of our experience.
We made a reservation for noon and they were shuffling due to the rain. Poor service and mediocre food that was really expensive. We won’t be back for brunch but love to see movies at the Lot.
Most of the food was great but the Impossible Burger was dry and tasteless. We complained to the waitress but all she said was that she likes that burger. When the bill came and there was no adjustment for the inedible burger, we complained to the manager and she was great. She made an adjustment to the bill and gave us free movie passes. It seems that if a customer complains about the food and doesn’t eat it, the waitress should have taken it off the bill or offered to bring something else.
We were disappointed in the quantity and quality of the food for dinner. So I would not recommend to friends..
The food was not as good and organized on Mother’s Day brunch since it was so crowded. I love their regular Sunday brunches!
