Our first trip to the mountains with our daughter
I wish they had an actual children’s menu. I had to wait 45 min for my first drink. The food was great but probably will not return.
If you happen to eat dinner early, beware of daylight savings because there is a chance you may the sun shining directly in your eyes! Otherwise, everything was excellent.
Had an awesome dinner here a few years ago so we went again. Won’t be going back... quality and overall experience just not the same. Food was just mediocre and for the price you expect more. Beautiful location though on top of the mountain!
Very nice atmosphere and food was excellent, enjoyed the location.
We had a 5:45 reservation and were sat at the far back of the room. Having read on Open Table that “the probability of being seated by a window is greatly increased if you book at 5:45,” we were disappointed to be sat at the back with a view of the gondola instead if the majestic valley. (While many of the prime tables sat empty until after dark). The manager’s response was that people had specifically requested the “view” tables or that they were held for people doing wedding tastings. So, note to all: put in a request for a table in the front even if you make a 5:30 or 5:45 reservation.
The service is great and the food is okay. My only complaint is the sides were subpar (veggies and potatoes).
The Lodge at Sunspot has so much potential and what a lovely concept for a different type of venue. The food is decent albeit unremarkable. I think with a little effort it could be much better. Our waiter was attentive and tried hard but there’s a mismatch between the price point (high) and the style of service. The atmosphere is basically that of any family-style restaurant (no tablecloths - old placemats like those you might use for a picnic table), really noisy and with cafeteria style lighting (bright). The folks running the gondola and coat room service were really friendly and helpful. The host told us to wait for our reservation in the bar where the drinks we ordered were not very good and bar service apathetic (total for 2 drinks with tip was $33). I am glad we tried it but the value was not there.
The food was of low quality for such a high price. The chicken tasted nothing of maple bourbon as stated on menu. It was if they poured a bottle of seasoned salt on it. It was horrible and inedible. The steak was tough.
Unique dining experience.... great place to celebrate a 65th birthday
Wonderful Birthday / Valentine event! Such a great staff. Excellent food!
What an amazing dining experience! The food, service, ambiance, all top notch!
Wonderful food and service. Will definitely return for either regular meal or special occasion.
Highly recommend for a special occasion!
Food is much improved and Great! We love this place.
Our server was fabulous and very candid, the food was amazing and views were spectacular.
I would have given the food 6 out of 5 it was that good.
The waiter was amazing and well educated
The setting was fun and beautiful on top of the mountain. Nighttime gondola ride was awesome. Food was very good and enjoyable. The service was EXCELLENT. Jessica was one of the best waitresses we have ever had! Overall a little expensive but the best meal we had on our 5 day trip to Winter Park.
The food was awful. 60.00 and just awful.
The server was the best part of the place.
Need lights outside. Dark and snow all over the place.
No safe path to walk up to door to get in place.
Had a lovely dinner with my wife. Food and service were great!
First, I want to say the service and ambiance at Sunspot were amazing. We had a large party of 13 and they were able to sit us all together. Our server (can't recall his name) was efficient and friendly. Our problem was with the menu selection and food quality, especially for the prices we paid. Everyone who ordered the chicken dish was unhappy with it-said the bourbon sauce didn't go well with the chicken. One person ordered the prime rib and could barely cut it with a steak knife. It looked more like pot roast. My trout was really good, however. My husband ordered the bison ribeye and it was amazing. The vegetable sides were very undercooked. We had to use a steak knife to cut the carrots. The salad was an unusual, rather bland assortment of lettuces and hard to identify items. The only other first course option was lobster bisque. I personally liked it, but most people would prefer a more mainstream soup, like vegetable or chicken based. Sunspot's corn chowder is one of my favorite items- wish they offered it at dinner, too. This was my first time to eat at Sunspot for dinner. We usually do lunch there and have always been happy with our food. We will definitely return to Sunspot for lunch, but unfortunately, not for dinner, especially at the prices we paid.
Great view, but don't go for the food. It was 5 star prices for 2 star food.
I dont mind paying for fine dinning...but $400 for 2 adults, 2 children and the service was lack luster at best. If you are going to charge a premium for service then it should be 5 star
The food, service and ambiance were fantastic! It was a bit pricey though.
Great location but the food was not worth the price.
We had a fabulous dinner and experience for our special date night. Our waitress was perfect, efficient, and friendly. Food was delicious. We would definitely go again.
Lovely atmosphere and great service. The food was much better than I expected - we enjoyed a lovely NYE at The Lodge at Sunspot.
Food was banquet quality and overpriced.
Excellent service and food. Server, David, was extremely attentive to our needs, which is exactly as you’d expect from a high level restaurant.
Christmas buffet, prime rib looked like it was bleeding. Turkey was as dry as my face after an entire day of skiing without a mask. Bread could have been used in the Stanley cup final. Price was out of this world for extremely sub par food. Never again. Best part was the blankets they gave us for the gondola ride up and down.
Beautiful scenery and view. I just thought the food would be a little more exquisite for spending 193.00 dollars; turkey and prime rib was the meat selection. We were a party of 2 and gratuity was 25.00 for Christmas as well. Interesting experience.
Biggest ripoff ever, ever, ever. I will never go back. The price fixe was misrepresented and I feel like I was cheated and robbed. I eat out a lot and this was a complete snow job. I have not felt so taken advantage of in a very long time.
$700 bill. 7 people. 3 dinners came out perfectly. Four dinners came out under cooked cold raw. I ended up taking my prime rib to the kitchen myself as my waiter was not to be found after entree delivery. The prime cut was about half the weight they advertised in the menu. They were about half full so not overloaded. I was so excited to go too. ☹️
I really hate that my whole experience was Brought to a negative review due to lack of training with my server. I am frustrated at the fact that there were many issues during my dining experience from the server not knowing how to present a bottle of wine my server not refilling any drinks soda or cocktails without flagging him down. my server not understanding the menu. The restaurant being sold out of prime rib at 6:30 in the evening on a Friday night. The back-and-forth with my server from the kitchen trying to get orders correct for my children. We brought family from out of town, Christmas dinner on the mountain was imagined to be enjoyable and not challenging. I was also frustrated that I manager never even came over to greet the table considering the major issues that were going on. With the price on the plates at this establishment I wouldn't recommend risking your money there
Great service, great food, great ambiance!! We really enjoyed our dinner.
Great location, fantastic views, ver professional staff
When I made my reservation it was for $50 per person. When we finished the meal they stated it was $69 per person. I had the original reservation so I am trying to get a refund.
We loved our experience at The Lodge at Sunspot. It was really special to go up the mountain and watch the sunset. The lodge was beautiful and food was amazing. Our service was great. Shoutout to Frank who was awesome! I definitely recommend going to dinner here one night. Definitely worth it.
Can not say enough good things, food and service were great and Annie's wine suggestion was spot on. It really complimented the meal. We will be back I am sure.
Frank was a terrific server.
