For more than 22 years, The Lobster Pot in Kennington has been serving proper French food. The restaurant is well known for its kitsch nautical décor so it’s no surprise that fish and seafood features heavily on the menu. It’s all hand-picked at Billingsgate Market to ensure that only the freshest fish swims your way. Popular dishes include pan-fried fillet of grouper with Cajun spices and white butter sauce; traditional bouillabaisse; and grilled tiger prawns with garlic butter. There are meat and vegetarian options too. The 8 course surprise menu at £49.50 is a winner. The Lobster Pot’s friendly staff and excellent French wine list make it ideal for a laid-back dinner with friends.

    As usual a great evening. Such a shame that the restaurant is closing - brought much needed joy to this part of E & C for 25 years!!!

    We went there for the Plateau de Fruit de Mer. We had to reject and return the oysters and prawns - tasted bad, not fresh at all altho chef insisted was fresh even asked us leave.- did not want serve us. We felt sorry for them as the restaurant was empty, only 1 other single guest. So we said that the other items were ok and we still paid full price. The cooked lobster main dish was ok only, nothing special. We DO NOT RECOMMEND anyone with discerning taste buds to dine in this restaurant, ever.

    We have been here several times. The dish we go for is lobster in garlic butter. It is incredibly tasty. The restaurant is slightly unconventional as far as location, service and decor are concerned. However, the food is the real star.

    Not much to look at from the front, this restaurant is quaint and intimate. The waitress was very attentive and the chef very personable. The tasting menu with lobster is good value for money. The food is perhaps not as refined as some of the posher, more central eateries, but it is authentic, rustic, wholesome and it tasted good.

    Small and quirky family run restaurant. We droved past 100 of times over the years and never gave it a second thought. So glad to have found it. We went for the degustation menu and every mouthful was an explosion of flavours. We will come again and highly recommend it.

    Very good food and service; however, the decor was far too rustic. Chairs and tables were far too small and anyone 6 feet tall and above will have an issue sitting comfortably.
