   Been here a few times. A busy and bustling place in a great location. Efficient and friendly staff and good choice of drinks. We didn’t eat this time. Met up with friends and family. A bit noisy inside and some great tables outside on the canal.

   The restaurant was full which is great to see but we couldn’t have a conversation as it was so noisy. So we skipped starter, desert & coffee.

   Terrible service, waitress was unnecessarily rude, we were served the wrong drink, rather than apologise and correct the mistake, she argued and then slammed a new drink on the table. When we finished our food we were told they needed the table and somebody else had it booked, please and thank you were not used at all in asking us to leave. Very strange experience

   I’ve been to The Lighterman a few times before for drinks and love the location, so decided to book for a dinner but unfortunately felt disappointed and rather ripped off by the whole experience. The food was standard pub fayre and was overpriced and a bit dry and uninviting. We ordered a bottle of wine but felt rushed to drink up with our wine glasses being refilled all the time as we had already been told we needed to vacate the table for a certain time. Service was perfunctory and cold and I really didn’t enjoy it at all. There are far better places to eat in the local area.

   Too many huge tables so took a long time to be served. Managed to drop one plate on the floor when it finally arrived, then missed another off … same for all 4 courses … so left … so disappointed, as never experienced that before at the Lighterman and have been a number of times …
