The Lakehouse - Mandeville
Sunday brunch was delicious, but a bit pricey. Would appreciate an alcohol free option for non-drinkers instead of one adults only $33 a person brunch, even if it was only $3 cheaper.
On a cold day, with the patio closed, the restaurant filled up very quickly and was pretty crowded around the buffet. I don't know if that made it difficult for the staff to keep up, but the cleanliness and organization of the buffet was suffering (food all over the dessert handles for example) with many items running out or near out.
Overall, a delicious bring but well below expectations based on cost and previous visits.
Great service and meal!
Sunday buffet was very good. The food was great and hot
New Years Eve dinner
The wine was not worth the additional cost. Outside of that, the dining experience was outstanding!
Awesome New Year's Eve dinner. Food was outstanding. Large portions and great price! Have never been disappointed anytime we have gone!
We love brunch here and come as often as we can! It gets better every time we go!
We went there to celebrate our birthdays and were treated to great food with great service! Can't wait to go back.
Had a good experience over all. We enjoyed the evening. This was Christmas Eve dinner buffet. The food was really good. It was our first time there. However, we were seated next to the door and tables were too close together so we had to deal with people passing and bumping our table constantly as well as draft from the door. Our waiter made up for the experience by paying for my drink.
Went for Christmas Eve dinner. Buffet style, food was good, service was good.
The food was outstanding. The noise level was high for a fine dining establishment. The service was not great and it would have been nice of the server cared at all that we were celebrating an anniversary.
We were disappointed with our meal. The restaurant was chilly, and the wait staff was more focused on dealing with issues on the patio than on service. It was annoying since they kept leaving the door open, allowing cold air to rush in. My wife's Osso Buco was good, but my Bouillabaisse contained very little of the broth that makes the dish what it should be - the fish was ample and good, but overall it was a disappointment. We've learned from previous visits to order a bottle of wine, since their selections by the glass are minimal and not very appealing. The somewhat inattentive service and the chilly surroundings made us realize just what a disappointment the setting is: the upper floor is reserved for functions, so diners who make one-table reservations are relegated to the first floor where they are denied a really nice view, and the concrete floor and tables without tablecloths give the impression of second-class status. The tables scattered about that are laid out with tablecloths, silver and stemware reinforce the impression that it takes more than a reservation to merit first class service here. What that is, or whether the service and food are any better for those fortunate customers is unknown to us.
This was the second time we had brunch here and we loved it. We sat upstairs in the walkway and that sucked because we had to go downstairs for the buffet. I just made a few trips so my mom and daughter didn’t have to go up and down the stairs. Overall we had a great time.
We love the Lakehouse. We have been to brunch several times and each time was unique and wonderful. Several of the staff recognize us and say hello each time we are there. Our friends have enjoyed it as well.
We also hosted a special event at the Lakehouse in November 2018 which was outstanding. Our guests could not get over the amazing views at night from the balcony, the exceptional bar and service staff who met our every need, the fabulous food and the absolutely over the top evening. Thank you to everyone at the Lakehouse for exceeding our expectations.
Always an excellent Sunday brunch and weekday lunch place.
I hate to review them because this wasn’t their best night for many reasons. Hoping it gets back to normal.
Our server handled a table of nine women, from happy hour through to dinner, with patience, foresight, and ease; thanks for accommodating our large group so well! Food was excellent, and ambiance perfect.
Brunch was delicious, there was a lot of variety of food, the white chocolate pudding was amazing, the omelets are made to order and the service was great!
Incredible food - INCREDIBLE. And great atmosphere. Loved the half price wine bottle special on Thursday and can't beat eating on the balcony this time of year. Will go back again and again.
This was the perfect venue for our large group brunch. We had several children in our party so being able to immediately be seated and head to the buffet was perfect. Buffet's often don't live up to the hype, but the food was outstanding. Also enjoyed the omelet and carving stations. Can't beat bottomless mimosas. We'll definitely be back.
Co-hosted a bridal brunch on a Saturday morning and everything was delightful! The servers were so friendly, helpful and attentive, the food was excellent, and the atmosphere was perfect. Highly recommend!
We celebrated our son's engagement. Cayman and the staff did an outstanding job.
Lovely lunch on our beautiful lakefront. Enjoyed Shrimp BLT, great service and peaceful setting. Always a nice spot on a pretty day!
This is a pretty place right on the Lake. The staff are friendly. The food is average to good, but not great. It is still a fun place to go with family.
Beautiful building and wonderful location overlooking Lake Ponchartrain in Old Mandeville. Love the area and a surrounding neighborhood is very pleasant. Hope the upstairs was temporarily unavailable due to a party or renovations. Wine list is disappointing but a night at the Lake House is well worth your time! Has a wonderful 40s resort feel that is very enjoyable. Food was solid.
Great view, food, service and music. Noise level was low until the restaurant started filling up.
Food was excellent! Service was great also, but a little slow.
Been a while since wife and I had been to the Lakehouse. Service was great, agreeing to my wife’s special request. Food was excellent and we will return.
Our Dinner at the Lakehouse was fantastic! The food, service and atmosphere were all wonderful. We were treated to a wonderful sunset across Lake Pontchartrain ! We would highly recommend it to family and friends !
Love this place! Absolutely first class service and the food is amazing. This was my first time sitting upstairs and I thought it would be too hard handling the brunch plates and walking up the stairs, but it was not an issue. Beautiful day with beautiful views of the lake. The staff was amazing, as usual, and the food is always perfect! Love the shrimp and grits and bread pudding!! Don't hesitate to book a party or small group or just a couple...…….perfect for all!
We went for Sunday brunch with 3 of our friends and thoroughly enjoyed our experience. The Lakehouse always has delicious gumbo and it was again on this visit. The salads are very tasty and fresh. I really enjoyed their chicken salad and always like their greens, pecans, bleu cheese salad with vinaigrette. Smoked salmon was also a great addition to salads. Their roasted vegetables were delicious. Chicken parmesan was nice as well as shrimp & grits and a cobia with a mushroom sauce. Everyone loved their white chocolate bread pudding. And bottomless mimosas are a big draw. Bloody Mary's for $4 are a good deal. We will be back!
Everything great but live music was a bit too loud. One acoustic guitar [no amplifier] would have been perfect. Service was superb, food was excellent.
Lakehouse has an interesting menu and the dishes are really good. We went early on Saturay evening and there were already several parties having dinner. The restaurant is a combination of an up-scale setting but without pretention. The servers are friendly and attentive, and best of all, the chef is great! Compared with similar restaurants near the lake front, Lakehouse now seems to be the best.
Great service, awesome sunset and great food!
The food and service were beyond excellent!
Both the food as well as the service was excellent.
My husband and I went out to celebrate his birthday. We have small children and do not get this opportunity often, so we were looking forward to dinner. The kitchen was understaffed, our appetizer took a very long time, and then our entree order was wrong. (This would have been understandable if the restaurant was busy - but there were a lot of empty tables) My husband's entree took so long to get out, he ended up watching me eat dinner, then I watched him eat his. No manager ever came over to our table to apologize. Our waiter tried to make it better but he was flustered the entire time. It was unfortunate, as I expected more from the Lakehouse.
Great service and atmosphere! Will definitely be back!
Always a great time and delicious neal at the Lakehouse
We have visited the Lake House on three separate occasions for Sunday Brunch and each experience was outstanding. There is a large variety of salads and cold bites, both breakfast and lunch entree selections on the buffet, soup, made to order omelets, hot fresh Belgian waffles and a carving station. All of this is included in the very reasonable price. Then there are the bottomless champagne, mimosas and poinsettias which are free flowing the entire meal, oh and then there are the yummy deserts also part of the inclusive price. The ambiance is very laid back and relaxed. Our servers never rushed us, in fact quite the opposite, even after we finished our plates they refilled our glasses and pointed out something fresh coming from the kitchen. We truly enjoy the dining experience, and the variety. Each time the soups and entrees have been different and delicious. We love sharing the Lake House with our friends and will be back!
