No fish order that day and therefore somewhat limited lunch options. Probably not there fault but ended up going elsewhere.

Lovely atmosphere. Good cover outside. Friendly service.
Food was big let down. Chicken was uncooked and rice was fridge cold. Really needs to improve.
Despite being a quiet Monday lunch, service was slow and the food a little disappointing. We’d heard great reviews but sadly not for us this time.

A very homely pub, great food, nice and helpful staff.
The indoor space had a strong unpleasant smell from the kitchen. The smell from the oil was everywhere. Even our clothes were still stinky once we arrived home.
The food was too greasy.
Lovely Drinks and Tier 2 rules respected! Great service!

Took half an hour to get a drink!! Staff seemed very overwhelmed and manager was too busy moaning about her workload and amount of customers.

The Grove have created lots of outside seating for people wanting to meet those outside their household. Most of it is under cover and somewhat heated, however it is a bit luck of the draw where you end up so definitely dress up warm. We were encouraged to use the app to order but it was having issues, which meant part of our order got missed and we had to top it up by asking the waiter to add to our order, meaning lots of the starters ended up arriving after the mains, which wasn't ideal. The food was good and the staff were trying their best under a difficult situation but my advice is to avoid using the app to order!

We've tried hard to accommodate our guests in these challenging times and redesigned our garden by adding a substantial amount of heating & cover to the substantial meals we are serving! I recognise that sometimes you may be on different tables and Surbitons notorious phone signal can get in the way but we're always happy to take orders at the table and whilst not guaranteeing it, we can take requests for your favourite spot when we re- open. It was great to visit The Grove again for a relaxed, outdoor lunch. The staff were very polite and attentive as usual.
Great time in the outside garden. Both dog and child friendly. Staff friendly.
Good selection of drinks and definitely will return. Food was good although need to make the menu a little clearer so you know exactly what you are getting.

The Grove has transformed its garden into a well designed outside restaurant, tables well distanced and shielded. The food was excellent, both from the normal and festive menus. The service was good, not slow but not rushed either. We were well looked after and thoroughly enjoyed our meal.

Overall a very good experience. We were delighted to be back in a pub atmosphere albeit not quite like normal due to social distancing. The staff were wonderful in these strange circumstances.

The staff and the service arm great but I was disappointed with the food on this occasion as I normally think it’s very good. There were several things what they didn’t have and when I ordered the chicken katu curry it was like a starter portion and the chicken was very small and dry so was the rice . My Friends burger was okay but hardly any chips the plate looked half empty. But my sister fish & chips was perfect. But feel very covid safe .

Always great at The Grove! They've worked hard to make their garden work with the latest lockdown - plenty of heaters and it's covered. I'd definitely recommend The Grove!

Lovely atmosphere and outside area for Covid times, but sadly the food was really average. The only festive dish on the menu was a ‘festive burger’ that in all honesty didn’t seem any different to a normal burger. They used to do great food in this pub, so it’s a shame. Of course I’ll come back and give it another try another time, as I’m a local, but it was disappointing :-(

Where to start. Everything was atrocious. The service was the most chaotic I have ever seen - each course took nearly an hour to arrive. The restaurant had been packed to the rafters meaning our table was literally next to the door where the waiters kept coming in and out from the freezing cold.
The food was awful. My friend had the vegan burger which she said was ok, and I had the steak which had absolutely no flavour, however the absolute worst part was that the “chimchurri”, usually known for its vinegarry tart flavour, was literally some limp soggy leaves in what I think was garlic butter.
Honestly so disappointed and this restaurant ought to be ashamed of itself.

We love this pub but we’re not impressed with the food this time round. Myself and my mum had a fish finger sandwich, the bread was stale and for £10 a pop I wasn’t impressed. My partner had a burger and said it was lovely and my sons kids meal for £6 was twice the size.
Saying that the service is always lovely and I like the pub. We sat in the outdoor huts with heater which was perfect at this time.

Large amounts of the menu was unavailable.
Steak arrived with different side to advertised and was very small.
App showed as not accepting my card and i now have a pending transaction on my account.

Awful. Front of house was rude and very unfriendly. Intimidating even. Only around 20% of the menu was available and we weren’t made aware of this before being sat at our table. I understand that the hospitality industry is under a lot of stress at the moment but surely this means they would up their customer service, not throw it out of the window!
Good for drinks only, food and service were terrible. I had food turn up on my plate which was not on the menu. Needless to say this is very dangerous, its lucky I don't suffer from allergies.
We have allways loved this pub - they have spent and considered all the social distancing rules and spent a fortune on the garden which is stunning and very cosy. Visit and enjoy

Service was absolutely terrible. There were only two of us and it took 3 hours to have a drink each and a main course. The restaurant did not seem busy and there were plenty of staff, but none of them seemed to pay any attention to us. We tried ordering on the app but it wasn’t working so we had to wait for staff to take our food order which took them an hour. Food didn’t take too long to arrive, but then it took another hour or so for them to give us the bill and come to take the payment. Food was ok but definitely wouldn’t return due to the slow service.
Excellent service and great food. Heated and covered beer garden is a wonderful feature

Fantastic covered areas in garden with heaters. Service a little slow after ordering on the app but that’s to be expected at the moment. Food tasty and good menu options.
Good place to go to dine outside. There is adequate covering should there be rain and heaters are provided if its cold. The staff are very friendly and the service was good when I visited with a friend.

This pub takes the pandemic seriously, from requiring you to scan into track and trace on entry through to distanced tables ( all outside tables under cover, most with heaters). Order and pay by app with table service only, it's a shame all pubs aren't like this. Will definitely go back regularly once the current lockdown allows.

Friendly and accommodating - comfy and cozy booths
Sat outside, felt very covid secure and great garden with partitions and heaters in place. New food menu which was ok but not great amount of choice and halloumi fries had far too much batter on them. Had a good evening.
