The Grill at The Lodge at Torrey Pines
One of my favorite dining places.
I had the swordfish entree and it was probably the worst dinner I have ever had. The waiter did not ask us if the food was good and when the cleared the table, they didn't comment on why so little of my dinner was eaten. Extremely disappointed with this experience. Will not come back or recommend this restaurant to anyone.
I have been there twice for business lunches. Always very good service and excellent food.
New Job Celebration
This is a great lunch spot. Food and views are terrific. Be prepared for a longer walk from the parking structure and/or the lobby.
My wife and I were visiting the La Jolla area with another couple and were staying nearby. We had eaten at The Grill previously and, along with our friends, were excited to return. Although the weather was too cool to sit outside comfortably, the inside proved to be very cozy on the cool evening. The salads were very fresh and, although not huge, we found them large enough for each couple to share. Our friends also ended up sharing an entre -- the stroganoff. My wife enjoyed the trout and I loved the large, juicy pork chop. The cocktails were expertly prepared and The Grill's wine list, while not overly extensive, is top notch. Prices at The Grill are a bit high, even for the La Jolla area, but not outlandish and, having eaten here previously, we were not surprised. Great spot for a quiet evening dinner. (We're very sensitive to restaurant acoustics). Weather permitting, outdoor seating on the patio (overlooking the property grounds and Torrey Pines golf course), should be requested.
We have been to The Grill at Torrey Pines a number of times. For the first time, we ordered a Bloody Mary - it was made with a bottled mix, came with one olive (had to ask 3 times for celery) and was very weak. One would think that they could make a Bloody Mary on such a prestigious golf course. So, we will be back again as the food is pretty good, but we won't be ordering from the bar. FYI.
Fantastic! They did an outstanding job accommodating for food allergies to eggs and peanuts.
Recently had lunch at The Grill, my first time, and I was disappointed. It was not overly busy or crowded and yet service was very slow. Food was good, but not special. They serve an obscene amount of either fries or rings with their sandwiches which would be better if less piled on to the plate with the sandwich. Pricing on food was good but their wine per glass prices were too high in my opinion. Wine selection was limited; some of our group of five got half glasses of wine while others got almost a full glass. Waiter needed additional training as he could not identify which beer in a flight belonged to what label, and offered ketchup in lieu of a chutney (run out of) or special jam to compliment their Monte Cristo sandwich (opted for basic strawberry jam). I'm willing to try the Grill again as the facilities and surroundings are beautiful, but would like to see more menu options and improved service.
Cute heated patio with a great view of Torrey Pines Golf Course. Good food and great location.
Good service - our waitress was on top of her game. The food was fine, but they had very limited seafood and gluten free options to choose from. I would recommend this place with caveats to some friends.
Dined here on Christmas Day for a light dinner. Was seated in a hidden corner, would not have been my preference. Had the roasted cauliflower soup, which was spectacular, followed with a Caesar salad which was totally disappointing. The Caesar salad had no flavor. There was no flavor of garlic or anchovies, typical ingredients of a Caesar salad. I was very sadly surprised by this.
Everything was superb ! Great food - great presentation and great service
Also great ambiance !
Service A+. Karen or taren was pro, cheerful, efficient. Hostess had pasted on terrified grimace on face. Empty dining room, incredible noise from kitchen. Dining room looks like upscale Denny's. Absent any and all ambience whatsoever. Depressing room. Menu is so overpriced with miniscule portions of very poor food. Green goddess salad just lettuce with 4 slivers of tired radish. Added shrimp for 8.00. 4 shrimp paradoxically so salty as to be inedible. Dressing had no taste whatsoever. 2 hamburgers were ok but meh. Reuben was ok but meh. Ordered 2 desserts plus ice cream. Literally 1 tablespoon of average ice cream. Wedding cake tiny slice size straight out of frig, tasteless. Do not bother. Seriously. Do not go.
Lovely ambiance, very cozy with a cabin like feel, beautiful patio seating, fire pits and a great dinner date spot. Perfect for family dining as well.
My husband said best burger ever! I loved the quinoa with pesto and roasted vegetables.
The food was good but the service was terrible. We had play tickets and almost missed it because of the slow service.
Service was excellent and the ambiance is unparalleled. The extra touch with carollers and Santa made it particularly festive. Food was good. The only issue is the music in the grill is a bit louder than need be. Happy Holidays
The grill was really busy. Took forever for our food to come. Kids has finished their chicken by the time the ranch sauce came for their chicken fingers. We usually had a great experience but this one was really off. A lot of $$ for a ho hum night 😢
We booked the restaurant for dinner. Unfortunately, we were one of two tables occupied in the dining room. I believe there were a few outdoor diners. Service should have been very attentive...it was not. Food was ok....some items better than others. Restaurant upstairs was festive and crowed. Wish we had dined there.
Two of us had the rotisserie chicken sandwich and it was just OK. The other two had fish tacos and stated that they were very good.
Price was high for the quality received.
Views were outstanding.
The scenery is spectacular and as a venue for Sunday brunch with out of town guests, the Lodge held great promise. The Hostess was welcoming and efficient but once our guests arrived and we moved inside to a table the experience turned towards disappointment. The staff seemed disinterested and at one point almost resentful of our presence when the overlooking of a specifically requested item was pointed out. The food was at best pedestrian, bordering on ill-prepared, and seemed to be for at least some of the dishes, the remnants of a more robust brunch serving from well earlier in the morning. To their credit, they did make a point of correcting an original suggestion regarding a menu item that contained an item that would have resulted in the consumption of a restricted diet dish.
Bottom line the Grill did not live up to expectations and it will be a while before I return.
Wonderful lunch with friends. Good food. We were not rushed.
Look forward to returning when in town!
What a treat to have a delicious lunch at a beautiful location! The service is always outstanding. The menu offers a variety of options. I had the Roasted Vegetable Quinoa AND a Waffle. Both were delicious! On a sunny day, there is no better view.....the greens of the golf course, hang gliders, and the blue Pacific Ocean. Highly recommend!
Great spot and very good service - we usually love this place, but this time the food was just OK. Meat was overcooked, and it's not cheap. But those chips and dip are fantastic. We will still most likely return just keeping all that in mind (for future meal choices).
Food is always good but this time service was disappointing. I had to ask a manager to get our waitress and then they sent us another different waitress. They were not that busy so ??? The salmon was like butta!!! Onions rings delish!
My meal was good and so was our guests but my husbands Ruben was very dry and not the good. Bread was dried out, meat was generous but not as juicy as expected.
overall experienxe is just average. good food and decent service. nothing to diffetentiate the place.
Service poor. Food poor. Ambiance poor. For a place that is supposed to be upper end, it failed on many levels. I will not recommend to anyone. Even A.R. Valentine has gone downhill.
This was a nice spot where we sat outside on the patio next to the golf course. The service and food was good overall. Everyone was very friendly and we had a good experience. My New York Strip was a good choice.
The lodge is gorgeous and you can’t beat the wonderful view of the golf course and ocean from the restaurant’s patio. Food is delicious, and the service is excellent. But I did notice all the staff were very businesslike - not a lot of smiles and no joking with the customers. I’m assuming they’re trained to be that way.
Here for a vacation. Excellent service; good quality food but seasoning is somewhat bland.
Always a great spot to hang out after a round at Torrey. Service is good and the food is top notch. The outdoor patio and heated tables are very cozy. Good beer selection too
Excellent food and service. Incredible atmosphere
First time dining at The Grill. Great setting, loved the ambiance...it was peaceful and beautiful...and he service was friendly and attentive. Oddly, all three of us ordered the huevos rancheros. None of us brought it up with the others, but I order this dish not infrequently and I was surprised by the blandness. Wouldn’t order it again at The Grill, but will come again to try something different just because the setting is so wonderful. If I’m impressed with the food, it will become a go to lunch spot for meeting with friends.
We were disappointed for the very first time in some of the items we ordered, and in the choices on the menu. That said, it is a lovely spot and we enjoyed ourselves.
hamburger was small and overcooked.onion rings tasted like they were made 3 days prior
Burgers were delicious! Service and atmosphere were fantastic. They were able to accommodate our food allergies to eggs and peanuts.
Perfect breakfast venue - for any occasion! My son and I came two mornings in a row. Can't beat the view and the ambience; with the fall weather, the experience is idyllic.
