About this restaurant

  • Neighborhood gem
  • Dog-friendly
  • Charming
We really care about the food and wine we serve at the Fox and Grapes which is why we won a Catey Menu of the Year award and have earned a Bib Gourmand. You can also find us listed in Harden's, Zagat's, the Michelin Guide, the Time Out Eating & Drinking Guide and the Good Pub Guide amongst others.

Alongside our Chef's Seasonal Dishes we offer a selection of classic English pub food such as fish and chips and that perennial favourite: the Burger. For a real treat, we recommend you try one of our succulent steaks cooked to perfection in our Josper Oven.

Staff were attentive despite the busy bank holiday crowd. Food arrived in good time and was excellent. For a family lunch, this was a lovely find and would definitely come back

Charming pub and dining room. We thought the burger was very good- the best of the 3 dishes we ordered. Chips were just ok as were the two starters. Staff was very friendly and it was a nice mix of customers from families to couples.

We took our friends to special supper club meal which I booked in March as up to now had enjoyed coming to this pub/restaurant. On arrival we got a drink at the bar being given the impression that we could choose an alternative welcome drink to the one on their menu. It was not a problem until my husband and our friend went to the bar to get the welcome drinks. They found themselves waiting 15-25 minutes for drink and the one I thought I was going to get had run out ! Upon arrival and looking at the menu I discovered it was very different to the sample menu I had previously seen. The starters only consisted of fish whereas the sample showed different choices including vegetarian. As I am allergic to fish and my friend does not eat fish we asked if we could change the starter. Initially the lady behind the bar said that I should have seen the menu as it was on their site but pointed out that I had not found it and the booking confirmation via opentsble did not show it. She then said they called everyone the day before to discuss the menu but no call was made to me ! Fortunately the chef came to the rescue and came up with a lovely ham starter. Unfortunately the notes I originally did not get out onto their system as one of my friends is deaf and I was still recovering from surgery to broken arm so needed to be careful where I sat . Unfortunately we were put on a table behind the back bar near the toilets. It was so very noisy that no one could hear each other . The food that came out was very good and we ordered a couple of bottles of wine which was nice . Fortunately we were not vegetarians ! Also we were shocked that no one asked us if we suffered from any allergies !! Unfortunately the bar experience and the noisey table spoilt our experience of this lovely pub and the food . Such a shame as had always rated it in the past. Food excellent but ambience and initial service was awful for us . I don’t know if we will return .
