Great service, food & environment for a business meeting.
The food was tasty, but the service was poor. It took a very long time for everything (greeting/seating, ordering, getting the check), and when we brought up the issue to our server he wasn't apologetic. My group of three women felt like we had been forgotten about and ignored. I don't think I'll be back.
We have been going to The Firehouse for decades--especially for special occasions and it has been one of our favorite restaurants until last night. It was my 65th birthday.
Service was horribly disjointed. Water girl wouldn't let guests sit down because she was so intent on filling their glasses with water that we had to stand and WAIT FOR HER TO MOVE AWAY FROM OUR SEATS before we could sit down. I alerted the kitchen staff ahead of time that we had one person with dietary restrictions and the message was never received by the cooks, having to explain to a disinterested waiter what the restrictions were. For a party of 6, a salad and an order of crab cakes came out for 2 people who ate long before everyone else. The rest of us waited another 25 minutes to get our salads. The Amuse Bouche which always comes first never arrived; We had to ask if something had changed and the waiter seemed totally confused and apparently "forgot" to bring them to our table. The restricted diet plate (no salt, gluten free) came heavily salted so one of our party had nothing to eat. When we asked the waiter to go back to the kitchen to find out if the cook salted the food, he walked away and never came back to give us an answer! All plates came at different times, leaving some in our party with nothing to eat while others ate the courses at different times. Reservations were at 7. We didn't get out until 10:30 AND WE DECIDED TO NOT TRY ANY DESSERT given the constant mess and confusion of poor service. Eating at the Firehouse certainly is NOT what it used to be. It was a stressful experience--which is not the "fine dining" experience we used to have with fully trained and capable kitchen and wait staff. Very sad to say but we won't be going back.
Hello Sabrina, I am very sorry to hear that we weren't at our best for your birthday celebration. Thank you for bringing this to our attention and our GM Dan, or myself will also be calling you in the next 24 to 48 hours to get more information on how we improve.
The food was great, as well as the wine paired with our meals. We will be coming back again soon. The restaurant setting is a great place to go for a date or celebrate an anniversary.
The restaurant wasn’t terribly clean. Time to dust the chair rails, clean the mirrors… it was noticeable. Steak was tough.
The food and staff were amazing. I’ll definitely be returning.
Great food and customer service as always. Thank you for a wonderful evening!
This is the date night place that never disappoints
The service was excellent as was the food. Additionally, the ambience was spot on. WE always have a great meal at the Firehouse and we will be back.
Very delicious and service was really nice
My Birthday dinner. Food was very good; green beans over cooked. Thank you for courteous, friendly, professional service, with attention to detail. Appreciate your valet service; Very Good!!!
Excellent food and service even during Covid. Did not disappoint!
My son and I had a lovely dinner at The Firehouse Restaurant. It is an old school experience in dining that should not be missed if you ever find yourself in Sacramento. Service, food, and atmosphere are excellent. Yes, it is a bit pricey but if you want to have a dining experience that recalls the splendor, elegance, and attentive service that seems to have disappeared at most dining establishments, you will not be disappointed if you spend a quiet, leisurely dinner at The Firehouse.
Have been going to the FireHouse for over 50 years! The experience is always the same- EXCELLENT!
We had the “Dining Downtown” menu. The salmon was cooked perfectly and the creme brûlée was delicious. Everyone who served us was wonderful. The service was attentive but not intrusive.
We had 5:30 reservations on a Friday night. The restaurant was nearly empty when we arrived, but we were asked to wait to be seated, which was fine. Moments later, we were told to follow a gentleman to the host stand. Once we got there, he and another host proceeded to argue quietly, yet right in front of us about seating and who told who to do what. Another host came and said to the two others that there was "no one at table 22, but it said 22". Then the three of them argued back in forth while we waited. It was uncomfortable to be there while it was happening. I looked away, but they were all in very close proximity to me. After that, we sat and all was fine. It was Dine Downtown week, so we ordered from that menu. The salad was shredded iceberg with nearly nothing on it. The chicken was just ok. The dessert was the best part.
We had a lovely dinner! The food was excellent. We had the scallops and the filet four our main courses. Both were superb. The carpaccio and oysters were delicious starters. Service was friendly and efficient. My water glass was never empty. The dining room is beautiful. They even have a small pamphlet with information about the history of the site and decor. We'll definitely return.
We went for downtown dine and the menu was very limited. The Waldorf salad was wet and had no taste. The chicken was dry and the chocolate dessert was so dense that I couldn't get my fork through it. Overall very disappointed since we have always enjoyed this restaurant.
The service was absolutely outstanding! My friend and I went to try the Dine Downtown menu and everything was delicious.
The salmon special was basic in flavor. The lemonade was also very basic. Filet mignon was a good cut a tad more cooked than asked. Very good apple dessert, the chocolate dessert was very rich.
The food was amazing and our server was very attentive.
The Firehouse is always a treat, but what with their restaurant week special meal, it is a bargain as well.
From the time that we were taken to our table by the Maitre 'd, we knew we were going to have an extraordinary dining experience. Our server, Amanda, was experienced and very professional. We enjoyed the Dine Downtown menu, choosing the salmon and the creme brulee for dessert. We added the Lobster bisque and it was delicious. The meal was cooked to perfection and the service was unparalleled.
The Firehouse provides the best service in town. It is clear why it has lasted for so long.
The first time we dined at the Firehouse was in 1973 and this is the first time I did not rate the restaurant five stars all the way around. I don't know if the 'dine downtown' crowd was different or if people in general are just loud and obnoxious! the Firehouse in all our previous visits has always been a subtle, quiet, and romantic setting and dining experience but not this night that we were there. Our dining companions have dined there about the same amount of years as us and they agreed about the disturbing ambiance on this visit on January 10th. We hope it was a one time experience!
Thanks for all the outstanding dining experiences over the years!
We had a fabulous dinner at The Firehouse Restaurant! The staff were at the ready to offer us anything we needed and the food was incredibly outstanding!
The good was more expensive than we expected and we were disappointed that steak and lobster were not available.
We look forward to going there twice every year for my Wife and my Birthdays
Restaurant empty except for two tables...Greater sat us in the bar area. I asked to be moved into the main dining room. He put us at a table directly behind a server station with my chair facing a partly curtained kitchen area. I said I did not want to sit looking at the kitchen. He said nothing. My husband switched chairs with me. The servers talked right behind us during the dinner.
Food was very good except asparagus...very tough and one tip was completely gone.
We will not go to the Firehouse again for dinner...lunch on the patio next time.
A wonderful restaurant for a delicious meal! Service, food - everything was fabulous!
This is my second time eating at The Firehouse and both experiences have been great! The food is delicious, the staff was friendly and knowledgeable about menu items and the service was great. All of our food was served hot and our glasses were kept full and our waitress Kristen, was amazing she continued to check on us during the meal.
Amanda, our server, was incredible! Food was amazing. Will be back!
Great service, great, staff, incredible ambiance, the food was amazing. A little pricy but I don’t mind it since it’s so amazing. Thank you all for the incredible experience
The food was excellent my prime rib was cooked to perfection and was very flavorful. My wife’s chicken was tender and juicy. Service was good our waitress checked on us often but not often enough to be a bother. The drinks were a bit terrible and had more alcohol than anything couldn’t really taste any thing else in the cocktail. The Murrow behind his was filthy covered in dust, there was lint in my drink and a hair in our bread. I’m not one to make a fuss, simple resolution was to not eat the bread or drink the beverage that wasn’t great to begin with but was comped by the restaurant. Overall the food and service was good but I expected more from this type of establishment.
We had a wonderful meal, I had the lamb and my wife had scallops. we sat down stairs near the fireplace, so it was warm and romantic. I will be back
We had a wonderful New Year’s Eve and celebration of my wife’s birthday.
The food was not warm , room temperature for mashed potato’s was horrible … the entire entree was barley warm , not enjoyable
Worst excuse for "fine dining" I have ever experienced. Their NYE tasting menu was awful.
Food was not what it once was. Servers kept delivering food to wrong table's. My steak was well done on one end to medium rare the other, with rare in the middle. I ordered MW. The scallops where bad and smelled. I was really disappointed and may never return after that experience.
