The Drapers Arms
The Drapers Arms is a lovely 1830s pub in a residential area of Islington
Very much a pub we are as welcoming to one person sitting with a beer and a paper as to a group having a special meal. In an informal and relaxing atmosphere we nonetheless take our food, drink and service seriously.
Our food is all freshly prepared and our menu changes every day and across the seasons. With a focus on being enjoyable, honest and seasonal we are also affordable - our wine list available on our website is among the very best in London.

Felt very safe with tables set well apart for a pleasant relaxing evening. Food was very good, albeit a little expensive, with service efficient and friendly.
Just brilliant. Great wine, amazing food, fantastic staff, excellent beer. Tremendous puddings. Lovely dogs. Pleasing furniture. Classic without being stuffy, civilised without being boring. No better place for a meal with old friends, family, mates (or a wine fuelled boozy session)
Great food
Great staff
Great place.
Always worth a visit and even worth a detour.
Great gastro pub. Serviced relaxed & efficient. Simple, well cooked food Definetley worth making it regular spot
A total treat as ever. Delicious food and vibrant atmosphere in this beautiful historical gin palace. Never disappoints.
Arrived late. To be greeted with a v frosty reception by front of house staff.
Had been really looking forward to eating here.
We were seated with menus and some water.
No further interactions after 5-10 mins we decided to leave as it seems our presence
was not welcomed.
Loved it, great pub. the pork belly and the lamb are absolute winners.
Good food, the roasts are wonderful but always a bit underwhelmed by the desserts, wish they could be a bit more adventurous but also have a few more staples such as ice cream & sorbets.
Overall would still recommend as really nice staff & good atmosphere
Unfortunately received poor service right from the beginning from the hostess. Waitress and manager were fine. Food seemed like it was reheated from earlier in the day. Shame as I had been here previously and it was way better
Service was excellent, the waiter had great expertise about the wine menu and made recommendations based on personal opinion rather than price points. Highly recommend. Great ambience and culture. Perfect venue for friends or an upcoming date night.
The service was super fast and we enjoyed the environment. Very different to the traditional pubs mainly because of the design of the building itself.
It was spotless and safe from a COVID perspective with tables well spaced.
Overall the experience was great though I found the potatoes a bit flowery and there were not many carrots in the Sunday Roast Lamb Shoulder option. But the meat more than made up for the Vege miss-steps.
Would definitely go again.
Great food selection and quality, amazing wine list and very attentive service. The only letdown is the noise level which is very high as the room is very bare. Some sound absorbing panels would be a good thing
Life affirming.
The Drapers Arms nails that beautiful mixture of a warm, comforting pub and an elevated dining experience. The service was casual but attentive, the menu had the perfect level of choice. We went a bit bigger on the wines as we knew they take their wines seriously, and was a lovely evening for it.
The food was amazing. The baked chocolate mousse with brandied prunes was delightful, and the spiced eggplant was incredible. Fish was perfectly cooked, and we couldn't have asked for more. Thank you for such a good night out!
Have been going there regularly over a number years. Always a great experience. Staff so friendly.
Great food and service. Nice drinks
List including classic cocktails. Lovely ambience, well maintained for social distancing. Gem really
Having not been for a very long time we decided to go to the Drapers arms prior to Lockdown 2.0.
The starter was excellent as was the main when it finally arrived warm (we had to send it back as the centre was cold) but it did feel like the staff were too busy and our order had been forgotten about as the waiting time between courses was very long.
Also appreciate keeping doors/ windows open for ventilation, but it was so cold we sat inside with our coats on and found it hard to enjoy the atmosphere.
Very tasty food, lovely looking menu, couldn't decide what to have all sounded amazing. big wine list (although we had a very meh! bottle) friendly staff, delicious cocktail and digestive. bit shabby around the edges, in a needs a bit of tlc and maybe something a bit more to the decor. Obviously in covid times ambience is just odd. But overall had a very pleasant evening. Will go back to have the Pie and a better bottle of wine.
One of my favourite places to have dinner. Food and service always exquisite.
Amazing food and atmosphere as always! Best roast in London!
It’s the quintessential Sunday roast place.
Just lovely.
It would be great to see a veggie roast option -
Went to have some drinks with my sister. The service was amazing. Everyone was so friendly, that was my favourite part about it. The food was very good as well. And the wine list was extensive so that was really nice !
The food is excellent and imaginative. The service is friendly. The menu is a bit pricey. Sitting outside is fine under an awning.
Beautiful venue with consistently great roasts, lovely wine and a relaxed vibe. We had a very kind and attentive American waiter who really embellished the experience!
Disappointing experience compared to several past visits. Quality of food was generally lacking while prices remain high. Hopefully just a one-off
The service was great, really friendly and helpful staff who were happy to chat about their recommendations. Large, extensive wine list. The food was brilliant - we had the lamb and the beef pie, and both were delicious. Pear and hazelnut tart to finish was 10 out of 10.
Good quality food from a menu with a wide variety of choices.
Brilliant food, very well executed. Extensive wine list with a range of proce points.
Would of been nicer to sit on a smaller table when your on a date
Really... £48 for a lamb roast for two and they charge you 50p just 1 x yorkshire pudding? Come on.
Lovely, old pub with great food – but it is a little pricey.
As always, superb. A rather noisy group of young if amiable people was seated nearby which was mildly irritating.
Elegant spot in the heart of highbury and islington. Delicious food that gives quality as good as quantity. Highly recommended thus place for a Sunday lunch. The lamb as it should melts in your mouth.
Very COVID friendly, all staff masked up and sanitisers on every table with plenty of space between tables. Staff very friendly and professional, service excellent. Food delicious and plentiful! Look forward to our next visit!
Wonderful local pub with delicious food and a large choice of wine.
Food was good but the place is very noisy and was very cold. Open doors everywhere. With the 10.00pm curfew we ve been served 9.40 after waiting one hour so we had to hurry to eat. Not so comfortable.
People from restaurant were nice but taken in a too big rush
Not the perfect date unfortunately because the place is very pretty and food is good
The food was really good, if on the expensive side. They do carafes of wine as well, so it's good if you don't want to buy a whole bottle of wine. Overall a very enjoyable evening.
Amazing scotch egg!
Great meal and service, wine lists needs updating, as everything we tried to order was out of stock.
