The vast majority of the dogs we have are very well behaved, so I'm sorry that on this occasion there were some bothering you. We do have a lovely dog free restaurant area if you do require a bit of peace and quiet, though admittedly this can be very busy as well on a Sunday.    Real shame, we used to love the City Barge, but the food was v average, and there was a terrible band playing so it was unpleasantly noisy.

Please do email me with details of the food you had so I can look into what went wrong. The band was a group of Chiswick school Children who we allow to use the venue every so often to hone their performing skills. We believe it's vitally important that pubs support, and are the centre of, their local community. We actually feel that the quality of the music is fantastic, especially when you consider they're still in school, so I'm sorry you found them terrible. They're usually done well before 8pm to minimise any inconvenince for those just looking for a quiet dinner later on. We do hope you'll give us another chance.    Absolutely fantastic service and very friendly atmosphere. Food (roasts) were good but not exceptional (except onion puree which was great, and never had before).

   Excellent customer service. I booked an outdoor table and because the weather changed theyd also reserved an indoor table for us, which we ended up taking instead. Good food too

   I can only reiterate my comments on our visit to the City Barge last Thursday, March 20, brilliant! Obviously, Sunday was busier, but still the attention and service we received was excellent.

   In our opinion the City Barge is the best pub along Strand on the Green, Chiswick. Ian Wright is an excellent host and looks after his guests, that's probably because he values them. His staff are friendly and very efficient. Mind you Mr Wright, Ian, holds no brook with unruly behavior, thank goodness. Oh, I must not forget the chef, great craftsman.

    We visited the City Barge very last minute yesterday for lunch, and aren’t we glad we did. We sat by the river and felt like we could have been anywhere in the world. A slice of peace. The chunky chips were to die for, and a great selection of ales for my husband. The icing on the cake though had to be our server George. He welcomed us as if we were old friends and made us feel that way until the moment we left. Making us laugh, sharing knowledge of the area and being the perfect balance of attentive but not invasive - in my husbands words “the kind of service you just don’t get anymore”. Thank you George - we hope to be back soon to get stranded by the tide.
