In 1969, artistic craftsmen of Disneyland fame created a romantic rendezvous in the cellar of the old California Hotel. The Cellar is the perfect setting for an intimate and romantic evening of fine dining. They did such a great work quickly switching to the courtyard.
It was beautiful. Don’t get me wrong I love to go back inside the cellar restaurant next time.

We had an amazing dine experience at the Cellar. Even though we live very nearby, this was the first time for us to visit the Cellar. I made a reservation for my husband's birthday dinner. I asked the restaurant if they could arrange something decorated on a dessert plate for his birthday such as "Happy Birthday" and they replied me to say "Yes". However, when we arrived at the restaurant, it seemed staff didn't know anything about it, so I had to ask again while my husband left for bathroom. It's just a small matter, the restaurant staff was really helpful to arrange it. Regarding the meal, we had "Escargot" as appetizer, "Classic Chateaubriand for Two" as main dish, and "Classic Souffle" & "Creme Brulee" for dessert. Every single meal is so delicate and so excellent. Overall, I am so impressed by food quality, atmosphere, service. I highly recommend this restaurant to everyone.

We were glad to be back and it felt very normal to be there. They implemented all the necessary safety precautions but it was very well done and we felt safe dining in. As usual the service and the food were amazing. We had a great time celebrating Father’s Day and we can’t wait to go back again.

Awesome dining experience! First time back after their reopen. Service was outstanding as usual and the food was excellent. Had a very good Pisco Sour and delicious lobster bisque. Can not wait for their supply chain to reopen so that their full menu can be brought back. Looking forward to the complete end of restrictions from the state as The Cellar is a terrific place to dine.

Excellent food and outstanding service. If you've never been to the Cellar, you should definitely go. One of a few very upscale restaurants in the area. The filet, salmon and duck were all exceptional as were the souffles and the creme brulet.

This was our first time here and we were blown away. We brought our 11 year old and even she had an amazing experience. Absolutely no complaints and we will definitely be back!

This place is great! We had a great time for our anniversary. Staff is very attentive and friendly. It is a slow pace, multi course European styled dining experience. It takes time to prepare the courses so be prepared to wait. We were there for over two and a half hours and enjoyed every minute. The ambiance is great and the place is is decorated uniquely. We had dinner in a private booth. The only slight downside was there was a very rambunctious party in the booth next to us. They occasionally were too loud. Did I mention the food was very good? The food was excellent.

Our server was Luis and he was great. Actually, I’ve never had anything but excellent service there. We ordered the lobster bisque, the Chateaubriand for two, and creme brûlée, all our favorite things and it was all amazingly delicious. The only thing to warn about—the Chateaubriand takes a while to fix, so either order it as soon as you get there or have an appetizer while you wait. This place is expensive (for us) but we’ve always gone there for a special treat. This time we had a gift card.

The salmon was sitting in an oily sauce with no flavor, way too much butter. It would have been nice to have vegetables served with the meals instead of mashed potatoes or starch with everything. Absolutely NO substitutions allowed.

Our waiter was Andrew pina was the best. It was our first time there and man. Everything was delicious. We didn’t know what to get and we ask some recommendations from Andrew and he did not steer us wrong. Never has escargot and wow delicious. We will be back

On this visit, I'm not sure if the bar and the kitchen we're understaffed or just poorly staffed. We waited a very long time for our cocktails and the food as plated was not what was described on the menu. When we pointed this out we were told that they were out of some of the ingredients. Some of the items serve to us we're also served cold. Our server did a very good job of taking care of us throughout the meal. She also stated she didn't understand what was taking so long for our cocktails to be delivered or why they were out of ingredients. It was a shame to have what was expected to be a nice meal turn out so poorly.

The food was just dreadful. Everything was room temperate (not hot) the New York strip was cooked awfully. The steak was very chewy, undercooked, borderline cold. the only good item was the soufflé for dessert.

What a special place! It's been 35 years since our last visit and it's as charming as ever. Great service and an incredible Chateaubriand. The wine list was very well priced and while not large there were ample choices.

Party of 6, 2 tables down acted like they owned the Place extremely loud, and were CATERED to as we had to wait on water, food bread etc , I would have spoken to manager, but my wife did not want me to say anything as it was..... our anniversary

Jimmy B took fantastic care of us and we look forward to returning. We took part in Valentines Day menu and each course was amazing. I hope they consider adding scallops back on the regular menu, they were prepared to perfection and melted in your mouth.

My wife and I went to the Cellar for Valentines Day dinner. Due to the holiday, it was a preset, four course menu. However, the options were well rounded and the food prepared very well. Luis, our server, did an excellent job of tending to our needs and pacing each course. We've dined at The Cellar in the past and have never been disappointed.

This review is for Valentine's Day service. We were running late for our reservation due to work commitments and Orange Country traffic. I called whilst en route to inform the restaurant that I was running late and they took note of this and told me that I would be OK. A couple minutes before I walked up to their front door I received a call from one of the hostess asking me if I was going to show up for this reservation. She then went on to start reminding me of their policy for reservations which I had already heard like twice before as I had been called twice before this reservation to be reminded of this. I told her I was a few steps from the entrance and hung up as the reception was not up to par at the moment. I walked in and she was still holding the phone to her face with a disgruntled look. I apologized and she started with a condescending spiel regarding their 2 hour window policy due to it being valentines day and that I would have be out by 8:30 pm.
We were given the last table in the middle with close proximity to five other parties. The waiter, Jimmy was prompt and courteous, the best aspect of our dinner. The food was good but overpriced for what we got. 100 dollars per person for a mini lobster roll and a plain tomato salad that you can make yourself at home. We were done with our whole dinner process at 8:00 pm way before the forced exit at 8:30 pm. By the way, they were letting patrons come in at 8:00 pm, half an hour before their reservation time. Interesting how it was OK being half an hour early but not OK a few minutes late. Needless to say, I wont see myself coming to this restaurant again and I wouldn't recommend it.
