In 1969, artistic craftsmen of Disneyland fame created a romantic rendezvous in the cellar of the old California Hotel. The Cellar is the perfect setting for an intimate and romantic evening of fine dining. Patrons will find themselves enjoying fine French cuisine while comfortably seated in soft velvet-backed chairs upholstered in rich mellow leather and surrounded by a dimly lit interior. Intimate and cozy, the dining room is elegant amid structured arches and cave-like walls, decorated with wine casks and silver lanterns. Culinary excellence abounds with only the finest and freshest foods prepared in a lighter version of classical French cuisine, and finely crafted cocktails which set a benchmark for all of Southern California!

We made a reservation for 9pm, got there on time and waited for someone to take care of us. We didn't get a table 15-20mins after. A lady staff apologized that's it's a Friday night and some people are lingering around. Understandable. We got seated and Andrew, our server was very welcoming& made us forget about how much we waited . He was very knowledgeable of the restaurant and what they're serving for the night from drinks to desserts. Since it's our first time, he recommended some of his personal favorites and we ordered the same exact thing. The escargot was served untraditionally (unshelled) but it wow'd both my bf and I with the sauce they made it with. We can't stop dipping our bread in it. I'm a lamb person myself and they cooked the lamb perfectly the way I wanted it to be. He suggested to try the hot chocolate soufflé with eggnog anglaise. I'm not a fan of chocolate or eggnog at all but with those 2 combined, it's glorious! I'm glad I tried it and my boyfriend was so grateful I took him to The Cellar for his birthday. It was definitely a lovely night! Thank you!

I love this place, the food and service are always great. Dining at The Cellar always feels like you're being transported back in time and that why I'm always sad to leave. I can't say enough good things about this place and I always recommend it to everyone I know.

Our Waiter was the absolute unsensitive guy, they have this thing about wanting to speak like french people, with the accent, the gestures.....all worng, my first language is french and we dont act like wanna bees.... French is about the special food, the special sauce, and thats it !!!!
If i go there and i spend on 3 couples 600 dol, the food better be FRENCH !!!!! and not wanna be french !!!!!! our waiter was oh man a disaster !!!!!! Next visit would never be again to the cellar, just to a real french restaurant !!!!

Very unique atmosphere. Cozy and romantic. The food was excellent and the server was very attentive. Not inexpensive, but not overpriced either. A fair price for a high quality dining experience.

One word: EXQUISITE. my boyfriend and I made reservations for 5:30 in the dining room. We were so excited to dress up and finally have a nice romantic dinner. The cellar is the definition of Victorian, romantic, upscale, and intimate. service was amazing and our server almost reminded me of a butler!
FOOD: we started with the lobster bisque which was phenomenal, however a little salty but it didn't bother me much. For our main course we both tried the Coq Au Vin which was the chicken and it was delicious, it fell right off the bone. For dessert we got the chocolate soufflé which had to be requested in advance because it takes thirty minutes to make. I do recommend the creme Brûlée instead though. It's much more tastier.

Drinks: AMZING cocktails which are hand crafted and just delicious.

The best part: not only is the food served on silver platters and covers, but our server gave us a tour of the wonderful cellar and showed us the table where Elizabeth Taylor got proposed to for the second time! He offered us the table and let us sit there! It was a dream.

We celebrated New Year’s evening at The Celar. The food was exceptional - everyone at our table was blown away by the Lobster bisque!!

However, the BEST part of the evening was our interaction with Andrew, our waiter. He was absolutely amazing. When you go, ask for Andrew. He delighted us with the history of this very charming, cozy restaurant that once was the hub of all celebrity activity!! He also was the one who almost begged for us to try the Lobster bisque. Thankfully, we listened to his suggestions!!

We even were seated right next to the booth where Elizabeth Taylor was engaged with Richard Burton — the second time!!
