Our server was Luis and he was great. Actually, I’ve never had anything but excellent service there. We ordered the lobster bisque, the Chateaubriand for two, and creme brûlée, all our favorite things and it was all amazingly delicious. The only thing to warn about—the Chateaubriand takes a while to fix, so either order it as soon as you get there or have an appetizer while you wait. This place is expensive (for us) but we’ve always gone there for a special treat. This time we had a gift card.
Food was good but expensive. It had a wonderful ambience.
Great service, food was just ok, a bit salty for my taste. Place is dark and cozy with great wine and drink selection. Not sure if this place is on my return visit list.
Our server was Andrew and he was exceptional. Incredibly courteous, informative, friendly, and funny. He also made great recommendations. The cellar has a really nice ambiance and the food was amazing.
The salmon was sitting in an oily sauce with no flavor, way too much butter. It would have been nice to have vegetables served with the meals instead of mashed potatoes or starch with everything. Absolutely NO substitutions allowed.
It was great. Alex was an excellent server. He remembered us from a year ago, and that was our only time being there. Food was perfect. Definitely going back.
Our waiter was Andrew pina was the best. It was our first time there and man. Everything was delicious. We didn’t know what to get and we ask some recommendations from Andrew and he did not steer us wrong. Never has escargot and wow delicious. We will be back
On this visit, I'm not sure if the bar and the kitchen we're understaffed or just poorly staffed. We waited a very long time for our cocktails and the food as plated was not what was described on the menu. When we pointed this out we were told that they were out of some of the ingredients. Some of the items serve to us we're also served cold. Our server did a very good job of taking care of us throughout the meal. She also stated she didn't understand what was taking so long for our cocktails to be delivered or why they were out of ingredients. It was a shame to have what was expected to be a nice meal turn out so poorly.
The food was just dreadful. Everything was room temperate (not hot) the New York strip was cooked awfully. The steak was very chewy, undercooked, borderline cold. the only good item was the soufflé for dessert.
What a special place! It's been 35 years since our last visit and it's as charming as ever. Great service and an incredible Chateaubriand. The wine list was very well priced and while not large there were ample choices.
Party of 6, 2 tables down acted like they owned the Place extremely loud, and were CATERED to as we had to wait on water, food bread etc , I would have spoken to manager, but my wife did not want me to say anything as it was..... our anniversary
Jimmy B took fantastic care of us and we look forward to returning. We took part in Valentines Day menu and each course was amazing. I hope they consider adding scallops back on the regular menu, they were prepared to perfection and melted in your mouth.
My wife and I went to the Cellar for Valentines Day dinner. Due to the holiday, it was a preset, four course menu. However, the options were well rounded and the food prepared very well. Luis, our server, did an excellent job of tending to our needs and pacing each course. We've dined at The Cellar in the past and have never been disappointed.
The service was exceptional. The food was really good. The ambience was really romantic.
This review is for Valentine's Day service. We were running late for our reservation due to work commitments and Orange Country traffic. I called whilst en route to inform the restaurant that I was running late and they took note of this and told me that I would be OK. A couple minutes before I walked up to their front door I received a call from one of the hostess asking me if I was going to show up for this reservation. She then went on to start reminding me of their policy for reservations which I had already heard like twice before as I had been called twice before this reservation to be reminded of this. I told her I was a few steps from the entrance and hung up as the reception was not up to par at the moment. I walked in and she was still holding the phone to her face with a disgruntled look. I apologized and she started with a condescending spiel regarding their 2 hour window policy due to it being valentines day and that I would have be out by 8:30 pm.
We were given the last table in the middle with close proximity to five other parties. The waiter, Jimmy was prompt and courteous, the best aspect of our dinner. The food was good but overpriced for what we got. 100 dollars per person for a mini lobster roll and a plain tomato salad that you can make yourself at home. We were done with our whole dinner process at 8:00 pm way before the forced exit at 8:30 pm. By the way, they were letting patrons come in at 8:00 pm, half an hour before their reservation time. Interesting how it was OK being half an hour early but not OK a few minutes late. Needless to say, I wont see myself coming to this restaurant again and I wouldn't recommend it.
The Cellar has a great service, great ambiance!! Have been going there for almost 30 Years!!
The food was excellent. It was overly priced for the amount of food given.
Valentine’s Day special menu, roses and service were very nice!🌹
Valentine’s Day, prix fixe menu. Every course delicious. Oyster& cavier on pasta was great. Scallop entree cooked perfectly. The recommended sparkling wine pairing was perfect for the seafood choices and went well with the chocolate cake dessert. Our waitress, Monica, was attentive and took good care of us. Very pleasant. Couldn’t have asked for a better experience.
This is a wonderful and unique location for an intimate or business dining experience. The ambience was great, our servers for the wine and meal were attentive, informative and fun. The food from soups, salads, sides and appetizers to the main courses, was delicious, well prepared and exceeded my expectations. The Cellar is an stellar experience from top to bottom.
Great friendly service. Would definitely recommend to friend and family.
Exceptional service by Andrew and the bartender and we loved the private booth.
Have been here a couple of times with family and friends and every time we go is always a good experience so far. Good food, good service and good ambiance. Today was kinda hesitant to try the fish cuz it’s never good unless it’s a fish restaurant . It’s usually dry and lack in flavor but we tried it anyway ... and to our surprise it was really good. Enjoyed the Halibut and shark. As always, we enjoyed their steaks too. So if you want to impress people on a good dinner would highly recommend this place. They have not failed me so far.
What once was a quiet dinner spot with exceptional food and service, has now become the run of the mill high dollar steak joint. Dressed for an exceptional evening, we were seated in the bar. It was 6:30pm. Two of us ordered the steak and other other two ordered fish. We also ordered a bottle of wine to start the evening off. We hoped for an evening from appetizers to dessert. Well we tried but certainly not our server. The atmosphere was noisy and the server was very distracting as she darted around from one table to the next busily taking orders. Bread service came out after the entree, and the wine had to be asked for half was through the main course. The server was so distracted that she couldn't spend an additional minute at the table. One of the people in our party asked for a chocolate souffle with chocolate sauce or anything instead of chocolate anglaise because of an allergy. The reply came back as... "sorry the kitchen says we don't have any chocolate or anything else" then left. Our dinner bill was close to $400. For that price and service, we can go to Mortons.
We have been dining at the cellar for over 45 years. Each time has been outstanding, our special place was so disappointing on our last visit. Everything from the waitress, our table in the bar was full of people in tshirts n shorts, our entire meal every course was cold. We have sadly visited our favorite special restaurant for the last time.
Mark is the best server. Menu has also improved since the last time I was there.
The best birthday dinner ever! Our waiter Jimmy was amazing! He was friendly, thoughtful, and gave very good advice!
My wife’s birthday
The waiter was amazing
Absolutely fantastic in every aspect. Amazing food, attentive servers, all in a romantic underground cellar.
this place was outstanding, the food was exquisite, and the service was impeccable. great atmosphere, not the biggest bargain in town but good nonetheless.
Had always heard The Cellar was a great place and decided to finally take my husband for a surprise date. I was called earlier in the day to confirm our reservation and during this call I asked the lady if my special note had been read, that I am gluten intolerant, and she said yes that I would be well taken care of that the restaurant accommodates allergies. We arrived early for our reservation, and we were seated promptly. Throughout our entire experience, my husband had the best of all courses, and I was given usually one choice, because there was no real gluten intolerant accommodations. I was left to feel less than, quickly, and that my needs would never be met, but hey we can sure fill your husbands needs. My husband enjoyed his meal and I enjoyed the only options on the menu I was given the blessing to eat. Imagine being treated like a leper at a meal, yeah that was the vibe. For a restaurant that is $$$ let me say, what a disappointing experience it is to be told you cannot have most things, and that there are no significantly good options for you. We’ve dined at amazing places, And we’ve dined at lackluster places all of which have kept up with the fact people are gluten intolerant. For the price I paid, I was appalled my meal was second rate and that my partner had an amazing experience spoiled by the waiter and all his Options and I was always told, no we aren’t a gluten intolerant accommodating type of place. Wow. For the price I paid, I walked away shocked, disappointed, and unimpressed. This place is out of touch and Behind the times.
Everything about The Cellar was outstanding. Our server was attentive but still gave us privacy - professional and nice demeanor. The food was DELICIOUS! The steak and the salmon were cooked to perfection. We are looking forward to returning and possibly making it our wedding anniversary tradition.
As always, the food was great, cocktails amazingly creative, wine delicious, service impeccable, ambiance perfect. Altogether one of our favorite places to dine. Highly recommended for a special and/or oromantic evening.
Brought my wife here for her birthday and I have never been more disappointed. We were one of three tables and our server was no where to be found. The person who greeted us was also the person who brought us water and took our drink order after he noticed
We were still waiting.
Second drinking order took even longer than the first. Went to the bathroom and came back and my drink was so patiently waiting at the bar to be picked up and brought to the table to be drunk.
Didn’t even stay to eat. Asked it to be boxed so we could leave.
Food wasn’t bad though. Sea bass was pretty pretty good.
That’s it...That’s all I got
This was our second New Year at The Cellar. Decorations were festive. The band played soft and current music....lovely. The appetizer and entree were wonderful. The seasoning on the Steak was delicious and it was perfectly cooked. Salad and dessert were not exciting. Our waiter, Alex, was attentive and enjoyable. A very knowledgeable sommelier helped serve the wine.
We went for our Anniversary on New Years Eve. While the service and ambiance were great, the food really fell short of our expectations. It was a price fix menu with very limited selections but that should have made it easy on the kitchen. I started with risotto, fairly bland and gummy, as in old. The lobster consomme was tasty but very close to cold. The filet was a good cut, cooked perfectly but probably cooked 20 mi utes before I got it, again, lukewarm. Husband had the ravioli and said it was barely warm and just ok. He thought the soup was cold as well. Lamb chops, well it's a shame what they did to them. Not hot and not seasoned particularly well, as in pretty tasteless. I tasted them and was grateful for my lukewarm steak. Chocolate cake was ok. Doubtful we'll return.
Everything was excellent! It was a 4 course meal for NYE. We took early seating. Everything we ordered was delicious! Even bar drinks were superb!
It was our first time and certainly not the last! Our server was attentive, knowledgeable, friendly and set the perfect pace for a lovely dinner. If he didn’t know something he found out. Food was delicious! The Elk Tenderloin was to melt in your mouth. Portions were worth the price! I even had food left over which doesn’t always happen at upscale restaurants. We decided this will be our new Christmas tradition every year. Can’t wait to go back.
