We have dined at Black Marlin several times, always a good meal!
As always excellent food served fast and hot and great service
Food was bland for how much it cost and service was pretty slow. I was expecting a much better experience and was left disappointed.
The Black Marlin is tucked away in a quaint area of Old Town Tustin close to culturally diverse shops and restaurants. Our seafood was perfectly prepared and the service was prompt and friendly. While the music was a tad bit raucous, it created a fun vibe. We'll definitely return!
The food, service and ambiance were all excellent. We always enjoy evenings here.
The outdoor seating was fine, as they had excellent heaters working overhead.
The food was delightful! My filet minion was the best I have had in a long time, and the lobster was perfectly cooked. (Didn't care for the garlic bread.)
Also excellent clam chowder.
It was Valentine's Day, so they were very busy, but we got in right on time per our reservation. A little noisy, but it was a busy day for them.
Everyone and everything was great you cant go wrong here
Valentine’s Day menu was amazing! The regular dinner menu was also available. Both of our dishes were amazing! I had the scallops and my husband had steak. There were no left-overs. Darn!
Great service, friendly helpful
Food is above average, good value
Short wine list
Been there 5 or 6 times
Last time took 14 people
Will go back again
This place was a great accidental find! They had blue cheese olives in their martinis which is my favorite! The food was delicious! Will definitely come back!
My son took me here for a “date” night. We were seated outside which turned out to perfect for us - less noise and activity, much easier for conversation and relaxing. The food was good, the staff attentive. I will definitely bring my husband back here for our “date” night.
We had a fantastic time and the music was amazing! The food portions seem to get smaller for the price but all was very good so I guess it was worth it. Great fun atmosphere the Tom Petty cover band was awesome! Can’t wait to do it again!
The food was good. The waitress and busboy were very sweet and gave excellent service. We will be back.
We ordered an appetizer, two soups with garlic bread, and entrees.
The soup came out, first. That was disappointing. I mentioned it to the man who brought the soup. He said, "Yes, your waitress turned in the ticket for the soup and the appetizer at the same time. She should not have done that. He brought the appetizer before we were halfway done with the soup. The waitress came and asked if everything was tasting OK. It was. But I was disappointed as it was a special lunch and was otherwise nice.
Phil Shane was performing. We had lunch and watched the football game too.
Good food, good drinks. Great band on Saturday night
We were early birds...11:30 a.m., so the restaurant was almost empty. We were greeted by two very friendly
young women and made to feel at home. Lunch was delicious, fish and chips. This was our first visit and Black Marlin is the the type of restaurant that serves good food, the waitresses make you feel welcomed. Your drinks and coffee cup always full. By 12:30 the place was packed. Apparently a Tustin favorite and I can see why.
One sour note...the room gets a little noisy.
P.S. I gave it “5 Star” it’s “1 Star” on heading. Can’t change it.
Neighborhood Gem; Great bar scene; Live Music. Good for social hour with friends
Was anxious to try with all of the good reviews and accolades. I thought the food was very average for the price. The diablo shrimp appetizer was tasty, my fish was good but nothing special, and the sides were a big disappointment. Sat on the outside heated patio which is pretty sterile looking. No reason to return. There are plenty of other good restaurants in OC.
So Happy to have this restaurant in my neighborhood. Great food and Cocktails!
We went to the Black Marlin on New Years Eve. They had a limited fixed menu for the night. We were expecting an upscale seafood restaurant but found a neighborhood bar and grill that has fancy food (We were over dressed). The berry salad was very nice. I had the halibut and my date had the lamb. The halibut portion was huge and wonderful. The lobster risotto was very nice. My date had a 1/2 rack of lamb. Small portion, there were 4 ribs. Two were very nice and two had significant gristle. The sauce was very nice. The asparagus spears were either very nice or tough and stringy. We took the chocolate mousse to go. It was very average. I had a Sonoma Cutrer Chardonay (very generous pour) which was delightful as always.
Loved this spot! Everything was great, they were a bit busy and forgot a few things but we got our food extremely fast and it was amazing. Will definitely come again! Love the live music!
Food was great... But nothing too special for that kind of price. Would have rather spent the amount that we spent at a steakhouse. Love the decoration of the place.... just so happen that that night the band was playing so it was really loud for dinner.
Love this restaurant. The bands that they have never disappoint. Can't wait until the next time.
Food was of high quality, prepared perfectly and placed as a designer with beautiful colors;
Drinks were magnificent; tried the Titos oyster shot and great Martini's well made and generous;
Service by Jeremy and team was outstanding.
We will come back
Amazing food - amazing service. Always friendly and fun.
Didn’t know it was going to be a prixe fixe meal. Probably would have chosen a different restaurant. I understand it was Christmas Eve but it would have been nice to be warned.
Every thing was great. The food, service and ambience. We were there on Christmas Eve. The restaurant did an excellent job. Thank you for making our Christmas Eve.
I am usually very pleased with the food here. The fish was fresh and well cooked. However, the side dishes were disappointing. The sautéed spinach was very salty. The risotto was starchy and overcooked. It was served like a scoop of ice cream. Not the usual way a good risotto is plated.
Took my parents there for a nice dinner. Food and service were fabulous!
Just had fun as usual and the food spot on!
Music was to loud for our party to hold a conversation
Hard to find sand dabs anywhere these days and they nailed the light breading and delicious informality of the fish. Risotto was a little sticky, but tasted great!
Food was very good. 2 Halibuts ordered a French Dip and Fish and Chips. My buddy w the fish and chips said it was the best ever, even after just coming home from UK. When the band started it got too noisy to even talk among ourselves. Music was terrific but when you are trying to catch up with friends it does make it a bit difficult. That's on us, not the restaurant.
Excellent food and service
Noise level in the front patio was reasonable to conduct a conversation. Service was fast and accurate. Wife had trout, I had sand dabs, both fresh and tasty.
Great Food - unique
Only hang up this time was our server was ok but lack the warmth of server that has waited on us in the past. Miss the personal touch.
Great space, food and service. Our server Maggie was outstanding
Chicken Picata. Chicken was over cooked and tough. Not good. Menu said it was served with rice and broccoli. Neither was on the plate.
