Texas de Brazil - Baton Rouge Ratings and Reviews
I noticed hat once you pay, you are completely ignored. As you leave, not a word, like thanks, good-bye, come again, etc... nothing... This makes the previous (pre-payment) attention and friendliness seem completely fake. How hard can it be to say good bye at the end as you leave the restaurant?
We drove several miles to eat here. Make sure to get a room so you don't have to drive afterwards. And avoid the salad bar or eating before you arrive.
Only complaint is that my daughter wanted the free bread on the table and we were told we would have to buy it. After a nearly $400 bill. Really? ! So we also decided not to buy the extra $100 bottle of wine to go afterwards.
However we would still highly recommend this restaurant.
Although we had dined at this TDB in the past and thoroughly enjoyed it, we were quite disappointed in our Thanksgiving Day experience. Let me start by saying that our server was excellent and this does not reflect on him. To begin with, one of our favorite items on the salad bar, the grapes were not available--when we inquired, we were told "oh well, we just don't have them this time." Also, the lobster bisque had gotten so low, we had to literally scrape around in the bottom of the tureen to get any at all. The gauchos were extremely sluggish in coming around with the meat. We never did see any pork until we asked for it and the chicken never did make an appearance. There was, however, an abundance of beef and it was delicious. When the manager (I assume) came around to ask how it was going, he truly didn't seem all that concerned--just going through the motions. I feel that for the high price, much more was expected and although this used to be our go-to spot for special occasions, I think we may find a different venue in the future.
We visited this restaurant for Thanksgiving dinner and were very disappointed. The thanksgiving fare was average at best. Turkey was not flavorful and sweet potatoes were awful. There was a terrible glare from the windows that was blinding. The cost was $359 for four people which included a $50 bottle of wine(which was the tastiest thing we had). We will not be back!
Place has really declined since my previous visit in May. Service was okay but definitely not as great as the first time. Food was definitely not worth the money this time. We only received pork, chicken, sausage and the house sirloin which wasn’t as good as we remembered. Seems like they were skimping because we came to an early dinner and there weren’t that many people. Still, that’s not what we paid for. We won’t be back.
