Ii was a dress up date night for my wife and I without our 2 yr old, and we had only been to Teatro once before about 2 years ago, pre Theatre w friends. Had always wanted to get back and after a year away from Calgary we were delighted to get a table Saturday evening. lt was the perfect dining experience, great ambience, romantic lighting, attentive wait staff, creative food options, superbly cooked and presented menu options. We have it down as our fav for special occasions.
Very accommodating and all staff were very helpful. Food was awesome.
Service from beginning to end was exceptional. Impressive wine list and food was amazing.
Great food and great service like usual.
Tasting menu awesome!
Will definitely be coming again soon.
Food was ok, not big portions, way overpriced for what you received
Every time I eat at Teatro I am impressed. Dinner the other night was no exception. Everything we ate was outstanding, as was our server.
Very friendly waiters/waitresses, Management. Personally engaging.
Great food, location.
Amazing food and service
From the moment we walked in for our pre-theatre dinner to when we left - everyone was fantastic! The food was wonderful - the Beet salad was a work of delicious art! Specials were wonderful and our server was a gem! Loved it!
We had not been here for a number of years and went for our anniversary. Tried the tasting menu. Food and presentation was amazing, well worth it. Paired the menu with the tasting wines. Wines were average for a "premium selection side" but the pours were generous. Amazing special desert was created as a surprise. This chef has game.
The waiters were very conscious of food allergies and even modified the menu to suit. Thank you!!
Background was noisy from adjacent tables, but everybody was enjoying the food and ambiance.
We will be back and especially to try the proposed 25 course tasting menu for Teatro's 25 year anniversary when announced.
We had a very nice evening at Teatro. The food was fresh, delicious and attention was paid to detail. It is a bit pricey, but it’s good. I’ve never had such a flavourful and juicy chicken breast. The carbonara was so good too! I would go back for sure.
I ordered the beet salad and it is excellent in presentation as well as taste. The special of the night was lamb. I feel it was a little bit on the tough side, and the portion was huge. I prefer quality rather than quality. I also prefer they have more veggie with it. It was $55 and I found it a bit pricy for what we are getting as it really should be more tender.
We had a wonderful experience which started with a great cocktail. We had the 6 course menu which was incredible tasting and well presented. The sommelier was very helpful and a lot of time and care was put into every piece of the meal and service.
Very good service at the start and good was really good. Unfortunately the head chef, Matt Batey was going to the same show as us so once he sat down an hour before the show the service was then directed to him so we had to cancel our dessert as we didn't have time for it after waiting almost half an hour for it! Would have been nice to have consistent service or have Mr.Batey start having dinner at 5:30 like the rest of us!
The food and service were incredible. My wife and I both have a sweet tooth and the dessert was probably the best either of us has ever had.
Great service and the food was delicious.
Big promotion for our friends. Took them out for appreciation for all they do
The meal was delicious. The cocktails were amazing. Our server was perfect and friendly. The sommelier was very helpful and easy to talk to. The dessert was a disappointment. So we tried another. It was also underwhelming.
Sadly another patron puked just outside of the bathroom last night and really ruined the night. I was wearing high end suede boots and have to try and get them dry cleaned. It was a brutal ending to the evening.
The big taste was amazing. The gnocchi was over salted but made again - but delivered to the wrong table. Nothing was done to address it and we felt something should have been done. Buy a cheap dessert wine or something to make it a good experience.
My friend and I came to Teatro many years for Big Taste Calgary and other gathering, food is always excellent, and service is great; also love seeing restaurant is in a historical building, eve chair is very comfortable. I really hope one day they open for weekend lunches.
I went to Teatro as part of The Big Taste week. I had their lunch sampling menu for $28. I was VERY disappointed. The portions were tiny (and I'm not a big eater). The main course was ordinary pasta with a bit of meat sauce. The wine was way overpriced at $22 for a 4 oz glass of pinot noir. The service was very slow. We waited close to one hour for our food.
The Guild was much better value for the same price.
I am afraid that Teatro won't get a new customer.
Attended Teatro for The Big Taste to introduce a friend to the restaurant. Surprised to have been so disappointed by the experience. We expected a simple, but well-executed menu for the price point. Consensus of our party - we did not think the prix fixe menu demonstrated the quality/capability of the restaurant.
Caprese salad was mediocre (quartered underripe tomatos, really?), pasta dish just OK (I really dislike rigatoni, but that is a personal thing, but the bolognese was coarse and chewy). Dessert was delicious, but served in cloudy recycled glass yogurt jars so not beautiful (have you no better servewear than that?)
The room is beautiful and the service was charming. But there are too many lovely places in town to eat to be that cynical with your offering Teatro. Participate in the event or don't. Really felt like you didn't want to be involved.
Went to Teatro for the first time during Big Taste and it was fantastic! All five courses were beautifully presented and delicious, and the staff was very friendly. Highly recommended! :0)
Big Taste YYC with friends. The menu sure highlight
We visited for Big Taste. In previous years, I found the menu to have more creative options and generally be more flavorful.
Wonderful service! The great taste menu was suplime for our 6 year wedding anniversary. They really went that extra mile.
Entrees were fine but main course of wagu beef was totally overcooked and burnt. Very disappointed, as restaurant looks the part but does not deliver. No bread, petit fours or tasters offered.
The restaurant was nice, but nothing to write home about the same is for the food. The server was terrible, just not skilled enough to be serving in a “fine dinning” restaurant..
Delicious food, well prepared, good, friendly service, great ambiance
Great meal, lovely ambiance and super location! This is our second visit to Teatro’s and we absolutely love it!!
Hadn’t been to Teatro for dinner for a number of years and was very pleased that the high quality of food and service had improved, if that is possible.
Dined with an out of town business colleague and was trying to show off a fine example of Calgary’s cuisine. He was impressed.
New additions to the menu but still some of the all time favourites like the seafood lasagna. Fabulous wine cellar.
Bringing my wife back in a week for my birthday
Food was fantastic, the place was almost completely empty. Server was a delight although they lacked etiquette, their charming personality made up for it and we enjoyed their service. We were shocked at the lack of variety among the cocktails 5 gin and 4 vodka if I recall. No bourbon or whiskey based cocktails and not therefore very few to choose from. Deserts were excellent and the feature dish was mind blowingly good. Would recommend.
Missed on most levels, got nothing but attitude from the “manager”, duck entre was overcooked and room temperature.
Tried to pass it if as “this is the way we do it”, wrong.
This was our second visit to Teatro. The first visit was outstanding and we had to be sure it wasn't just beginner's luck. On both occasions we were seated in the uber comfy curved couches at the front. This time I went in with the idea that I had to try the carbonara but once more the fish special sounded too good. So scallops and caviar it was! I don't honestly think these folks know how to make bad food. Do yourself a favor and try this restaurant.
Great food and service! Excellent place to celebrate something or come for a cheaper lunch during the day.
Great ambiance but unacceptable that we had to wait over 45 mins for our food to arrive at lunch when the restaurant was half empty. The server was apologetic, but there was really no excuse and the bill certainly didn’t reflect our inconvenience at lunch hour. Teatro really should have comped our wine.
Food was delicious and staff was very friendly and knowledgable of the products being used.
Another great dinner at Teatro. Food was incredible. Seems to just keep getting better. Well done!!
An early Valentine's date this past Saturday where we selected the Chef's Tasting Menu with premium wine pairing. It was simply outstanding and I recommend anyone to give this a try at least once. The servers were attentive and knowledgeable but never in our faces which we really appreciated. Thank you Teatro - we will be back again soon.
