Jacob, our server, was very attentive and knowledgeable. He checked on us many times and immediately brought us anything we asked for. Menu is good for non-meat eaters and they even have a vegan/vegetarian menu which is hard to find in Vail!
We had a lovely family evening and our waiter Bryan was great fun. He really looked after us all evening.
This was the worst experience we’ve had at the Tavern. First of all they were entirely out of Chardonnay and Cabernet wines by the glass. Seems ridiculous as this restaurant is located in a high end hotel. I asked for dressing on the side of my entree salad and it came with the dressing on. My husband’s meal a salad was tasteless. We were quite disappointed as we’ve always had a good experience. For the price you can find much better food and service
Food was better than I expected - just as good or better than many higher prices places in the area. Loved the live music!
Basic comfort food at base of Vail Lion's Head. Nice live music.
Food was not very good overall, cost did not seem to match the lower quality of food. Service was excellent though!
Korean bowls horrible salmon cold ravioli mushy
Nice dinner and food. We enjoyed
Live music was outstanding. Service was excellent.
Bryan was fantastic! Service is incredibly attentive... food is great.
Worse service I ever had in spite of it not being busy
Great service! The lobster mac n cheese was amazing after we added a little salt. Really good value on that because there were chunks of lobster and the portion was huge. The New York strip was decent but could have been more flavorful. The truffle mashed potatoes it came with made it worth the order. The apple bread pudding was not our fav and would not order that again. Overall we will for sure be back and hope to get the same table over looking the ice rink:)
The “pie” is a pot full of gravy covered with a thin pastry. This is a joke. Food is not great, for the least. At this level of price, there are so many good restaurants around. Tavern on the square is amongst the very few you do not need to book ahead... avoid!!
Service was good
Nachos were terrible.....cheese sauce...
Wings were good
Ambiance was great along with the service. The food was just okay, nothing special.
We were put in bar area even though we had reservation. It was very noisy but otherwise ok
Mediocre food, very expensive. Our $28 nachos were extremely average - basically some melted cheese on chips with a few chunks of buffalo chicken. We had a Korean Noodle Bowl with Tofu that was “meh” and was $34. They brought our appetizer (nachos) just 2 minutes before they brought the rest of the meal - bad timing. So they did offer to comp us the nachos, which was the right thing to do.
Absolutely awful! Both food and service were horrific. ( We were a party of 6 - 2 teenagers and 4 adults). They brought out my son's meal after only being at the restaurant for 10 minutes. They brought out 2 more meals 30 minutes later. Then they brought out the remaining 3 meals 10 minutes after that. When we said something, instead of apologizing, their solution was to take away the meals they already served. We ordered bread only to be charged $9 for an incredibly small loaf and the bread came out after the meals. Even the food itself was awful. The prices were outrageous for the quality of service and food. My daughter is 13 and we asked if we could do a 1/2 plate of ravioli. They said no. All around awful experience. Stay away!
Great live music. Food was above average. We had an enjoyable evening. Would recommend.
Not good, the food was marginal
Food was great. Service was very disjointed. Check cam before dessert arrived.
Lovely experience. We sat on the patio and enjoyed the sunset. The food was delicious and relatively fast. We got the bass and the fish and chips. For dessert, we got the fried peach pie. The table beside us got the chicken pot pie and the s’mores taco which both looked amazing!
My wife and I split a Caesar salad and it was huge. Neither of us could finish our half. My wife had the chicken satay and I had the Bison Chili, again large portions, and we could not finish either one.
Our server was very good as well.
We likely will not be back in this area but if we were we would certainly go there again.
We eat here frequently. Great service, always a fun environment. We enjoy the live music on the patio or by the bar whenever is offered. Great local place.
Early dinner before a lecture series. Very good!
With a spectacular view of Vail Mountain and an open outdoor seating arrangement that allows Ed great conversation, Tavern on the Square in Lionshead is a must. The juicy Angus burger with thick fries sounds nonchalant but it’s one of the best you’ll have anywhere. Our Cobb salad was robust, flavorful and had generous cube cuts of tender chicken. We finished the dinner with the Fried Peach Pie, which was the perfect ending to our evening meal in Vail! We have had many other entrees there and have always been pleased with the quality and flavor of the food, the excellent service (thank you Jacob - great job!) and the superb setting.
Awesome to let kids play on the lawn
We had reservations for an inside table. When we arrived we were seated inside and brought water by a young man. We sat for quite a while before we were given menus. A young lady waitress came over to our table and asked us if our waitress had waited on us. When we replied no, she apologized and brought us menus. From then on service was very good but it seemed to be that most of the waiters and waitresses were more concerned with serving people on the patio rather than inside tables. We were not the only ones who were unhappy. We could tell that several other tables around us were upset as well. One couple even got up and left because they were seated at a small 2-person table instead of a 4-person table. They asked the hostess about moving and she told them that table was reserved, although there were no reserved signs on any tables. When we left an hour later, they were moving tables around for a larger party and putting reserved signs on tables.
Nice setting sitting outside in Lionshead Vail village
Service was less than spectacular
Food was excellent
We were halfway done with our appetizers when the main courses came
We sent them back for 15 minutes
I would still recommend for food and location
Food was not as good as we expected. I personally got the wedge salad. The lettuce was brown in spots and the bacon was thick slices with mostly fat.
Thank you for your feedback due to some complaints of the pork belly we took this off our menu. Please come and try us again and ask for me Jeffrey or Andrew and we would love to buy you a drink. Once again without your feedback we would not be able to improve
Food was very good and not unreasonably priced compared to Denver. Location can’t be beat, and the service would get higher stars if possible.
Thank you for choosing the tavern, we are so glad you enjoyed your visit
Rain closed outside seating so when we. got there they didn't have a table for our reservation! Got stuck in the LOUD bar but changed tables as soon as one opened up . Good food , great service except no water refills.
Thank you for your feedback. I'm sorry to hear we didn't refill the water as much as we should. We have been working on better attention to detail and its reviews like this that help us achieve better service.
My sincere thanks and kudos to Tyler. He was johnny-on-the-spot with suggestions for dinner and made our visit DELICIOUS!!
Thank you, without out servers like Tyler our job would be more difficult. Thank you once again and we look forward to seeing you soon.
Great patio on the bottom of the mountain.
Thank you Doug, we are very lucky to have such a great ambiance and location.
Ate there twice, good breakfast, great dinner. Sports Bar so noisy in the bar, but quiet outside on the patio.
Thank you Bill, It can be a little noisy I'm glad you were able to enjoy our patio.
They need to train their staff! They have young people underwater w little to no training on service. We ordered a nice bottle of wine and the cork broke. They just used a napkin to wipe it off and served it up.
The salad was ok. We ordered the chili and it was not edible. They did not charge us for the chili , but they didn’t do anything to make up for it either.
Matt and Bill did a great job, selection was perfect, well certainly go back.
Service was horrible. Ended up walking out.
