Tavern on Kruse
Our executive chef, Nathan Bates, spent four and half years at the Michelin 3-Star "Fifth Floor" in San Francisco, working under Laurent Gras (who Celebrity Chef David Chang calls "the greatest chef in the world." While there, Chef Nate was part of preparing the 90th birthday party for Julia Child which was made famous in the climax of the movie "Julie & Julia." Fantastic experience on the new patio. Always loved their food and now with the patio table love it even more than when it used to be indoors only.
Our plates were so beautiful and the foods flavor unfolded one after another in perfect order. I can't wait to go back
Wonderful overall experience . food is delicious, drinks creative and service mostly attentive. Great venue for jazz!
We went on a Monday right before a jazz band had started. Had a great night of good food, music, and great service.
Cute place with good ambiance. Customer service was lacking (host didn’t acknowledge my presence until he was done talking to other people and doing something on the computer, seemed put out with questions). Food was good!
My brother and I both ordered the beet and pear salad. It was so delicious and the portion size was satisfying. Spouse ordered a burger and sweet potato fries. He judged it as “good”.
Service was weirdly inconsistent. Brother ordered a cocktail that apparently was forgotten by the server. He politely reminded the server who delivered it with a “sorry about that” several minutes later. I was never offered a refill on my coffee. It seemed as though once our food was delivered we were on our own. I got up to ask the hostess for a box. Maybe they were short on staff but we all came away feeling like our server might do better in a non-customer facing job.
The menu is delightful and scrumptious! Our experience was great. Unfortunately due to Covid protocols our entire party was not able to sit together but the evening was good just the same. I would definitely recommend Tavern on Kruse.
We have been regulars of Tavern on Kruse ever since they started a few years back. We love them. The food is consistently great, the service is very friendly (we love Emily!), the atmosphere is great indoor AND outdoor, and it feels great to be a patron of a local business that does so much good for the community. Please never change!
Always have a great meal and great service when I visit Tavern on Kruse. Thank you!
Incredible food, great location and socially distant from those around us. Wish the dessert menu had a few more options to it but was simple enough.
Will go back sometime soon.
Phenomenal food in a fun and lively setting. Great service.
Weekend Brunch was fantastic. So excited to have found this place.
A very unique but exciting spot positioned around a very nice boutique retail shopping area. Very nicely decorated and contemporary with an an amazing outdoor space. The bar is a highlight to enjoy drinks. We found the service to be top notch to accommodate our group of 6. Cocktails were very good with some unique offerings. Many food choices with a variety of price points. Food was all very good.
Obnoxious and ignorant service very dissappointing
Love this place. The food is the best in town and the patio with the heated tables are sweet.
The heated tables were fantastic since we were in the shade during the first half of our brunch. The food was incredible, and I found myself ordering the savory chicken and waffles along with the Royal PB&J, and the Dungeness Crab Omelette to share with everyone at the table. My kids ordered the Red Velvet waffles and the beignets. Everything was so tasty. The food came quickly and the drinks were perfect. We will definitely be back, this time for dinner!!!
I had my birthday dinner on the outside patio. The service was great and we loved the heated table. We ordered the duck risotto and I'd give a 7 on a 1-10 scale. The fish and chips a 9 and the winter salad an 8. Overall the service was excellent and it turned out to be a fun and scrumptious evening.
Was unsure of this place given the location. However, this place was amazing on every count. I also have not had better brussle sprouts. A very happy surprise for me and my girlfriend.
Very nice casual outdoor lunch with our family yesterday. Very good food. I wish I hadn't stopped drinking, because it looks like they have a dynamite bar.
Great atmosphere, live music great music and outdoor seating
Wonderful dinner at very fair prices. We has the Duck and Scallops entrees.
I mentioned it was a birthday when I made the reservation, but the waitress didn't acknowledge that. Ok well...
So happy to be back on the patio with music and great food.
Went there for lunch. It's an expensive place for lunch, but very good. We ate outdoors. Instead of having outdoor propane heaters, they have ingeniously designed heated tables, where the table tops and bottoms are heated. They drape a tablecloth over the heated table and you can position your chair under the table cloth so your legs and feet stay warm and your hands can stay warm if you put them on top of the table. I imagine its much more energy efficient this way then heating the entire atmosphere. Made for a pandemic friendly dining experience.
Tavern on the Kruz is great. Staff are incredible, warm & friendly. They are attentive, but not pushy, offer good advice on the menu and the bar staff are the bomb! We have been going there for about 3-4 years now. The kitchen makes a great side dish of greens as well as many other things, but those are my favorite. Fried chicken, steak frites, pasta, you name it and they do it well. Keep up the great work.
The food was excellent and the wine list is nothing short of impressive. The 2016 Lingua Franca Bunker Hill Chardonnay was out of this world with the scallops. Will be back for sure!
I don't know of anyone who's made more of an effort to adapt to the pandemic than this restauranteur, and I'm glad to see the restaurant has weathered hopefully the worst COVID has to throw at us. Though it was cold and grey this past Sunday, we stuck to our plans for outdoor brunch at 11:15 (there were inside options for the less hardy, or less foolhardy), and the heated tables did afford a fair amount of comfort for both our legs and our hands with the heated stand and tabletop. Service was maybe a wee bit slow on the cocktails, but maybe we were just a wee bit too thirsty. Our friends' soup and crab omelet looked great; we each got a breakfast bowl and the eggs and potatoes were done to perfection, the only complaint being the pork belly seemed a bit scant, though when my wife mentioned that to the waitress she took half off the charge for that item. I was pleasantly surprised at the final total - the experience was a good value. Definitely an operation worth enjoying (and thus supporting).
Great place great service, but I wish the jazz band could have played a little longer . Very grateful that we have a place like this locally to enjoy.
Thank you for making it a great night for me and my lady.
Had a great evening with friends. Food was delicious, our server was very attentive, and the live music was so nice after a year of COVID restrictions. Highly recommend.
It was a perfect way to celebrate our anniversary, relaxed atmosphere with exceptionally high quality food and wine. The tasting menu was a great, stress-free way to explore their food and wine options.
Awesome patio with heated tables (the owner designed) and a clear canopy with no sides to let the sun and air in and rain out. Excellent food and drinks, friendly service.
We have eaten here lots of times. I had the scallops and a lovely fritter like dish. Lovely! Scallops cooked beautifully and the little fritters were crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. Yum! My husband had the winter Tavern burger and it did not disappoint. We shared a large side salad - sooooo good. For desert - it was a celebration after all! - we had the bread pudding. Wonderful and so much we couldn't finish it. We ate outside with the new, heated tables. Really fun!
What a beautiful experience!! Service was spot on, ambience was easy to enjoy with friends (or on a date!) And the food was absolutely delicious. Ask for their extensive wine list, so many great options and all different price points! We'll definitely be back, this is our new go to.
We were from out of town, and the staff was just so gracious, and had so many great great recommendations. Everything was beautiful, and delicious. This was a highlight for us and will definitely migrate through here again.
The wine specialist was incredibly helpful as we chose to go with a bottle of wine instead of cocktails. The wine paired well with our meals and tasted delicious. Service was impeccable and the staff listened to my requests to a T. Thank you for a great night!
Really cool location with a nice, varied and creative menu. Service was attentive and friendly and the food was excellent. A really nice surprise!
Always great service, food, cocktails & ambiance! A regular spot of ours! Love coming here.
Tavern is a very lively and noisy place on Friday and Saturday nights, but we went intentionally on Monday evening to avoid the crowd. It was wonderful!!! The atmosphere is very positive, but fewer people make for lower noise level. We shared the Crispy Brussel Sprouts and the Duck Confit Empanadas as appetizers.....both absolutely delicious!!!....followed by Crispy Duck Breast with an outstanding Risotto, and one person chose the Scallops. Everyone enjoyed their dinners so much, that we ordered two desserts with glasses of port to finish off a perfect meal!!
Great happy hour menu!
Our family finally enjoyed a nicely prepared dinner "out", with COVID restrictions loosening. The food was delicious and well prepared and service was attentive and atmosphere casual, but lively!
