Tavern In The Village
Have had two great experiences at Taven in the Village during the last 6 months. This one was not so great with regard to the entrees. Our grilled salmon was overdone on one of our entrees and the other entree (gnocchi) the chicken was overdone and there were mushroom stems in the entree that were very rubbery and unedible. Disappointing this time and hopefully more attention will be paid to not overcooking as a result of this review.
Always great and consistent. My go to place!
We had a wonderful experience at the Tavern in the Village. The hostess was very sensitive to the fact that I was with my 92 year old mom. She sat us in an area where there weren't as many people and away from the air conditioning. Both of these considerations were very thoughtful and much appreciative. The service was great and the food is always good.
We enjoyed our entrees: grilled salmon with kale salad and chicken tarragon. Service was good. However, I feel obligated to report that the men's bathroom seemed dirty. The floor was greasy and wet, making me feel like I might slide. My wife commented that her bathroom also appeared dirty.
We visited for lunch. Would be nice if they would have a lunch size portion on their salads. I wanted the Steak salad and had to spend $16 on it for lunch. Seems a little pricey for a salad and especially for lunch. It was very good but not worth $16.
Great place for a caaual dinner with friends. A little hard to talk over the other conversations
Our server James was extremely knowledgeable and the food was fantastic!
Consistently good food and the bartender was very busy, but took excellent care of us. One of our favorite places to eat out.
We went for Brunch on Father’s Day. Our Open Table reservation booked for outdoor seating. When we arrived, we were taken
To the back part of the restaurant, being it was my first time, figured maybe they had a Courtyard or something. We were taken to regular table and the dining area was very loud.
When I went to asked hostess about my reservation and how I reserved outside seating, she informed me that Open Table offers it, however it’s first come first serve and they do not really make reservations for outside seating.
Okay... well then maybe that should be something fixed on the “Open Table “ website to not give that option. So we are pretty laid back couple, opted then to sit in the bar area near a window. What I ordered was delicious, no complaining .. my husband ordered the burger in which he ordered medium rare. The burger plate all looked amazing until he bit into the burger and it was more like well done. Now I on the other hand like my meat cooked, but people that like their meet rare, really do mean rare. Our lovely waiter was very apologetic , offered something else or another one. However, he was ready to go, being that our food actually took a tad longer than normal. We did not make a fuss being we were not in a hurry, but I even thought it was taking a little long. I had the Avocado Toast which was just perfect. The burger was taken off the ticket, so overall the place was accommodating, except for the outdoor seating. I would still go back, because the menu options looked so good and would like to try lunch or dinner there.
Father’s Day brunch was great
Brunch took over 50 minutes to get food to table. Unacceptable
Wonderful service and great food loved it
We have enjoyed the food and service at The Tavern at least 15 times or more over the years. It is consistently good. A very attractive venue, easy parking, great service and a creative menu. The food is
interesting, well presented. It leaves you wishing you had some extra room for desert. It's in the Prairie Village Shopping Center venue so it's easy to get to. The service is quick but attentive. If you want drinks and time to chat before ordering they make sure you get that. Also, the drink offerings are ample both in wine, beer and liquor. I've been there with my wife and family and with friends and business people. Never regretted the choice. Nice windows too so you feel the outside effectively brought inside for a roomier feeling. The booths are large and comfortable. I've had a few three hour lunches there discussing business or other matters and never felt rushed. So, a great place to go to enjoy a great lunch or dinner.
Sebastian, our waiter was very efficient and personable.
I GO TO BRUNCH - BOTH DAYS OF THE WEEKEND --
IT'S JUST THE BEST !!
We were very pleased with our dining experience. There were many more appealing menu choices since the last time we had visited. Very attentive staff as well.
Salmon portions are getting awfully small for the price
Always our favorite lunch place!
Very accommodating service. Great experience!
I LOVE this wonderful restaurant !!!! --- it's super-clean, the service is extraordinary, the food is delicious -- it's cozy --- the management team are all very warm & friendly --- their SAT & SUN brunch is the best !!!
We enjoyed our visit very much as always. Delightful evening great service delicious food. Thx
The Tavern is good for what it is - a higher-end restaurant. My girlfriend loved it and I agree the food and atmosphere were very good. But I'm the type of guy who cringes at paying such high prices, like $10 for a glass of wine; heck, for the price of two glasses I could buy a box of Black Box wine which I'd be just as happy with and which is the equivalent of about 4 bottles! For a special occasion, The Tavern is as good as any other place in it's category. For other occasions, give me a local restaurant any day, where I'll spend $40 - $50 vs. $90 - $100!
Let me start by saying the food here was very good. The Chef's Mahi special was worth the visit; the service on the other hand left a lot to be desired and unfortunately, detracted from the overall experience.
As an example, we made a reservation for a booth and arrived on time - actually early and planned on sitting at the bar to enjoy a drink. The hostess, after consulting with her manager advised that a booths along the window were reserved for parties of four even though all the other booths contained parties of two. We certainly understood and were seated at another smaller booth in the restaurant. For us, that would have been the end of it, except they proceeded to seat parties of two at those tables as they turned throughout the course of the evening.
As frustrating as that may have been, it is a relatively minor issue. What was a problem was after ordering an appetizer (the mussels in a tomato vodka reductions were fantastic), our entrees arrived before the table was cleared. Already a smaller table, the waiter proceeded to set our plates down, not even considering clearing the table to make room. We actually stacked our plates to make room for him after commenting that it might actually be a good idea to clear the dishes before bringing the entrees. The waiter made the comment that he will take our entrees back and have someone clear the table --- never-mind, just leave the food - the experience is already ruined.
The noise level is higher than might be expected from the bar area as well. This is an establishment that appears to cater to it's local clientele - visitors most certainly not welcome. Unfortunate because the food is worth a try.
Dined breakfast brunch & it was a great experience. Food was good, service, really enjoyable time.
All should dine with The Tavern in the Village.
It was great!
Our favorite spot! The food is delicious and a great, varied menu. The staff is friendly, service great. The atmosphere is just right. Love the neighborhood feel.
My experience at Tavern has been consistently positive in the past and this experience, even on Mother's Day, was no different. Our reservations were honored on time, the staff was welcoming , friendly and professional. I had the crab cakes Benedict which was amazing with potatoes and asparagus both perfectly prepared. My mom and sister had sweet peach French toast and the Asian tuna salad. Both raved about their meals. The atmosphere is lively and fun without interfering with conversation. We did not feel at all rushed and had a wonderful experience.
Mothers Day Brunch. Food was very good. Service was slow but they were busy. Overall a good experience.
The food, service, and overall experience was outstanding. So happy to have chosen Tavern for the Mother’s Day brunch.
Had Mother’s Day Lunch with my family. Had a blast
Very nice. Food was excellent. Nice for a special event such as anniversary or birthday.
We very much enjoy the food at the Tavern and also appreciate that it's always consistent.
James was a great server. The seafood bowl with scallops & roasted brussel sprouts was creative & savory. Nice wine list.
The waitress was great. The manager stopped by to check on us. Everyone loved the food and choices available for Saturday brunch.
Always wonderful! We’re there 3/4 times a month!
We went for brunch and it was excellent! All four of us loved our dishes and brunch drinks
An exceptional value, excellent service, they seated us early, food was excellent, portions appropriately sized - all excellent. Server was extraordinary.
With three of f my bestest friends, we have celebrated our birthdays together for over and our friendships that have pasted the 45 year mark. For the past couple of years, we have enjoyed long lunches at Tavern at Mission Farms where the food is wonderful and the service excellent. Debbie, our amazing server this time, is a Reba McIntire clone with fabulous wit to match. We will be back soon!!!
We meet at Tavern in the Village once a month to catch up. Last visit we were celebrating a birthday. Everything was perfection ... as always!
Our favorite neighborhood spot!
