Tavern In The Village
with red wine demi-glace, garlic whipped potatoes & grilled asparagus
seared trout with chili honey glaze and chopped pecans, whipped swet potatoes, sauteed spinach and bourbon cherries
grilled fresh salmon, crispy bacon, sliced tomatoes, spring mix, and dill aioli on a toasted egg bun
Loved their brunch. The blueberry pancakes and monte Christo sandwiches were amazing.
Food was outstanding and service was perfect! This place is consistently delicious!
We got a booth by a window and the fireplace- so we were pleased ! The food was good overall . The crab cakes were disappointing though - very tiny portion and slightly soggy. The Bloody Mary was just okay.
We frequent this restaurant and would like to continue the habit. The food needs to improve. Thank you.
Always great! Service, food, atmosphere …. A great restaurant.
We love this place for a nice and consistent lunch destination. The poke bowl, however, is uninspired and bland compared to other places around town. Wish it were better!
We had a good lunch and waitress. Recommend the Brie/Bacon sandwich except for the fat count. It is yummy!!!
Loved everything about our first dinner experience here. Food was absolutely delicious, and service was fantastic! Very cozy atmosphere. We will be back for sure.
Food was great!! Drinks were a little slow in arriving.
Perfect birthday dinner for my husband! Bruschetta appetizer, filet for him, pork chop for me, and finished with bread pudding! All delish! Our server Andy was friendly, attentive and knowledgeable with good menu suggestions. Home run!!
Always my favorite when I’m in Kansas City. The right balance of elegance and casual. Great menu with novel items but nothing too OTT!
Brunch menu is awesome and our server, Stella, was so friendly and sweet and really took care of us.
The place was full so it was noisy. Not intolerable, though. The menu is fantastic. A lot of delicious-sounding items and it was hard to decide. Service was quick and good. The meal was delicious. I’ll definitely be back again.
Server was excellent - attentive, friendly and helpful. But even at a corner table the noise level was really high and distracting.
Excellent service… great recommendations… nice afternoon!
Good food and location. Big menus but all was quality.
We ordered croquettes for appetizers and those were delicious!
We order the Chicken Spiedini on a bed of risotto and that could have been better.
The description says it's "flash-fried" and it felt like they did that but skipped the step of letting the excess oil drip onto a pan before putting it on the plate.
When you moved the chicken away from its original position, there was a bed of oil underneath it and my wife and I had to get spoons in order to remove the excess oil.
The risotto would have been fine, had there not been that bed of oil on top of it. Also, it was a bit heavy on the salt.
We loved the ambiance of the place and the fact that it's tucked away in Prairie Village, just wished the entrees were better.
We really enjoy this restaurant. Good food and service with a neighborhood feel.
The Tavern in the Village could use a refresh on the menu!!! We are regular customers and frankly struggle with choices. Also, the table tops are worn and sticky. The servers in the dining room are not on par with quality of servers in bar area, and turnover in dining area seems to be frequent.
The most important issue is a sewer type smell we are starting to notice in the Village shops and restaurants. It is problematic where food is being served.
Just presenting honest feedback. We want the Tavern to stay in the Village and again, we enjoy going there!!
Very inconsistent service in the dining room. The bar service is a well oiled machine. Overall, we love the Tavern and will continue to be good customers!
Fish tacos were delicious! Quick, knowledgable service!
It was okay. We had a revervation but were seated at an uninspiring table in the back. That was disappointing. Our server was chirpy and attentive, and the food was good, but, I don't know, it was lacklustre. We ordered creme brulee and were told we snagged the last one, then she came back and said no, they're all gone. This at 8pm. Anyway, the table was odd, like, sticky? Felt dirty? It seemed like the polyurethane finish was coming off, and we both felt it was unpleasant. $100 dinner just not $100 enough.
Great good and service!
Noise level way above "energetic ". Almost to the point of not hearing my dining companions
Great first experience here! Food and service was excellent! Will be back!
There was a sewer smell in restaurant
This is the fourth time I've eaten at the Tavern ... first time for brunch. I love this place!
We requested a booth and fortunately felt safely tucked away, it is a neighborhood gem.
Good and service was amazing as always!
The Tavern is always good and no surprises. And its one of the few restaurants that isn't nerve-shatteringly loud.
Our service Jay was outstanding!
It was my first time and I will definitely be back
Our food was deciduous and server was attentive and friendly. An enjoyable dinner all around.
Very nice brunch but fairly pricey for not being all-you-can-eat.
Food was, however, well prepared and very good.
Very enjoyable. I typically don’t order the pork chop, but it seemed to have an interesting twist (honey, goat cheese, brown super, bourbon cherries, peaches) so I decided to try it. Absolutely amazing! Will go back and order it next time too!
First time at this restaurant, and it was quite a reasonable price and value and good food. We will be back.
This is a highly overrated eatery
We were told it’s that since it’s so popular that reservations are necessary. I made reservations and found the best time on a Sat night
We were given a window seat that had MANY flies on it. We fought these flies during our stay. We told the bartender and he said “ I know!” * he may have been the manager as well.
Our server was super nice and service was quick
In fact, so many servers, each with a different responsibility. We thought there may have been a time limit in our stay. We were seated, served 4 courses in less than 1 hour.
The noise level was VERY loud.
I think this review is out of our complete disappointment that the eatery was more like an upscale Denny’s.
I don’t think we will be coming back on our own.
Great neighborhood restaurant. Always consistent with food quality.
Only feedback I would provide is the booth tabletops desperately need refinished!
A great lunch outdoors at Tavern! Quick service and tasty food.
Best meal we’ve had in a long time, and wonderful service. Will definitely be returning.
Food was not very good. There is too much bread in the dishes- the sliders, the bruschetta and crab cakes - minimal protein. Drinks were good.
Lovely place to have a casual dinner. Good service and good!
