We were seated inside of the fishing tent on the deck which was a unique experience however, the tent had a foul smell as though the table was "cleaned" with a soiled dirty rag. The lighting kept going out which required us - the paying guest, to disconnect and reconnect the lighting cable into the extension cord. To remediate both of these issues, we requested tea lights to keep the tent lite and burnt some of the dried flowers that was meant for the table display.
Aside from these set-backs, we enjoyed the food and the service.
Excellent drinks, food, service and ambience. They went above and beyond to make our anniversary dinner special.
The host sat us upstairs right next to the attic access which was not sealed properly and was leaking a ton of cold air right onto us. There solution was to have a space heater blowing on us. Not very impressive for a fine dining experience.
Impeccable service as always. Celebrated our anniversary there on Saturday and it was great. The staff is friendly, cozy ambiance and the food is amazing. Highly recommend.
Amazing! Second visit on the last 6 weeks, and will definitely be my new go-to for amazing, versatile food and wine.
Went for a birthday it was great and the food was really good!! The room could of used a bit of help .. was not really a chefs table like I am used to but still was delicious!
Excellent food as always. Some issues with service (wine, mix up of order, long delay getting tarte Tatin).
Good food, great service. No complaints, even during Covid they made it a great experience for everyone!
The chefs did an incredible job making my husbands birthday dinner SO SPECIAL. The service was amazing as always, and the food was out of this world. Very grateful for such a wonderful evening :)
This was our second time at Tapas. Our first experience was wonderful which was why we returned. We brought my sister and her hubby for a belated 50th birthday celebration. Not the same experience this time. We had to wait about 20 minutes for the reservation before us to leave. Only once when we checked in, on time, did they tell us that they would be a few minutes to get our table ready. 20 minutes is a lot more than a few minutes. No sorry for the wait either. My sister has gluten & dairy allergies which can make dining difficult and especially here. We ate the night before at The Sensory and the kitchen created items just for her that fit her needs. Tapas being a small in house made restaurant we thought would be just as accommadating. NOT. She was left with 2 or 3 items on the menu that she could order and no offer on adjusting anything else to suit her needs. This was rather disappointing as we were hoping we would do one of the tasting menus. What we did order was pretty good. Mussels were the best of the items we ordered.
Dear MemawGoose: I am sorry you did not enjoy your experience. I just want to clarify for everyone who may read this, that when you book your table on Opentable, you are prompted to write any allergies. We are extremely accommodating and have many reviews to testify to that, however, unfortunately, we are not magicians who can stop a busy service on a Saturday night to cater to you. Please, when you book a table anywhere, let them know. Thank you!
This was the 2nd time I have been there ! We were seating upstairs this time , which I did not really enjoy as much as very little ambiance over the main level. We had a res right at 5pm when it opened and it is unfortunate we were seated upstairs. I know with the Covid protocols it is not easy but that was disappointing.
Tamib: I am very sorry that you did not enjoy our cozy upstairs! Please next time you book, use the option where you can choose a dining area; unfortunately, we do fill up quickly so do book ahead!
While visiting from out of town, tried tapas. Am a big fan of two tapas restaurants in Edmonton - where I am from. Enjoyed the good and ambience.
We have dined at Tapas on many occasions. We were very disappointed with the service on this occasion as we had to wait for our table for 20 minutes (four of us with masks on) which was frustrating but what was more frustrating was there was no apology for the wait from anyone in the restaurant.
When our table was ready we were shown to our seats and asked before we had even taken our coats off do we want still or sparkling water. No apology for the wait.
It doesn't take much to keep customers happy, perhaps an offer of a free appetizer or dessert on the house??
That's all it would have taken.
Linda: I will address this issue; I am very sorry that you experienced this.
The food was fantastic, each recipe was perfection on a plate! Don’t forget your wallet because you only get what you pay for, but it was very much worth it 🥰
Tapas is so thoughtfully curated from the decor to the drink and food menu. The cocktails and small plates were magical - far exceeded our expectations. Service was also outstanding.
We enjoyed our first visit to Tapas. The food was amazing and our server guided us and gave wonderful suggestions. We will be back!
Food was good but menu very limited. We booked 9pm and had to wait 25min. But generally it is a good restaurant for a date for two or meeting for four. And staff is really discreet ( but follows!) stupid COVID precautions so it gave us a sense of privacy and we could forget about the crazy world and relax.
It was an amazing time. Tapas had a quaint, romantic atmosphere with very friendly and quirky staff. Highly recommend anything on the menu! My fiancé and I got a variety of the tapas, but would definitely check out the “hunt” or chefs plate next time!
It was a good experience. Food, service was good. Only negative that would stop me from going again would be the price. Maybe just order something small.
Very nice assortment of unique and creative items on the menu.
Great place great service. Came here with girlfriends to celebrate a birthday. Will be back next time I’m in Canmore!
Absolutely delicious food presented beautifully. This was topped off by great service.
Fantastic as per usual! Worth the splurge when in Canmore. Everything is delicious - especially the mushroom toast. We ordered it twice.
Excellent service. Fantastic food with large portion sizes.
Tapas is our favorite restaurant in Canmore. This evening they not only accommodated our dietary preferences but went above and beyond the call of duty.
We experienced “the Hunt” - the Head Chef’s reminiscent journey of hunting with her Grandfather. So incredible!
Service was impeccable.
Whether you want to try one of the old favourites that Tapas is so well known for, or try one of the Chef’s selections you absolutely can’t go wrong.
Can’t wait to go back!
Very good menu, something for everyone. A romantic spot, good for couples. Food was artistically prepared and very tasty. Also have a good wine menu with lots of local Canadian choices.
Phenomenal food and ambience
Great food, bar the dessert which was ordinary. Service was perfunctory-good enough but not overly welcoming or friendly.
Our favourite dining place in Canmore. Good luck to the new management!
Wonderful food! However, the experience was really diminished by the need to look at menus on our phone. The whole reason I go out is to put aside this virtual world for a time and connect with those I care about.
Tapas is great! The food and service is top notch.
Excellent food. Loved the lamb ribs so had a second helping.
Tapas was an intimate lovely place to eat. A bit cozy upstairs but really unique.
It was a very good experience. Service was excellent. Food was very good.
Good attempt. Food was ok but not chef quality for the price. We didn’t have time to enjoy each meal before the plate arrived. The meals order was off, we requested a specific order and it was not respected.
Our table was by the door and a vent, we were cold. Food was much better last time we were there. Not the Spanish tapas we are used to. Also, no chicken or fish on the menu.
The room was incredibly cold and winter hadn’t even hit yet! There were 3 patrons wearing jackets but I was told it’s just a “drafty old house”.
Sorry about the temperature, the cold came very quickly and we now have more heaters installed upstairs.
First year anniversary. Amazing meal and service! Food was so delicious and we would go back in a heartbeat.
