Dinner was fabulous and the staff is so friendly and efficient. It made for a very fun evening!
I’ve heard for years that Sushi Ran has the best sushi in Marin. They were right! The atmosphere is casual and well appointed. The server was knowledgeable and attentive. Not as expensive as I feared. Every reason to go back!
Excellent Maki. The crunch roll (eel) is AMAZING. And I thouroughly enjoyed the Japanese whiskey Manhattan.
Excellent food and service as always!
This is one of the best Sushi restaurant on the other side of the bridge.
Sushi Ran is consistently the best high quality sushi and Japanese dining experience. Delicious. Authentic. Special. The Best!
Superb lunch as always. We often stop here on the way back from SF. The food is always excellent. Had 10 pieces of Sashimi, with Soup, Seaweed salad and oyster roll as well a roll that was wrapped in cucumber. Recommend all. Enjoyed several sparking Lemmon drinks as well.
I have been going to Sushi Ran for special occasions for years and this time found it to be a bit underwhelming. For the price ($11 for one piece of nigiri, $19 for one roll) it should be exceptional and this time the fish was just okay.
When you finish the two meals we each had and then say (semi seriously) let's reorder the same - now - you know you are in a "good place".

Delicious!! It’s a bit pricy, but well worth the justifiable price tag! Everything we ordered was absolutely superb. This is probably my new favorite Japanese restaurant in the Bay Area. I highly recommend it. Note: it’s very quiet on a Thursday between 5:30-7:15.
Ordered a salad and the sushi combo. Both were excellent. Perfect fish! Great server. Miso soup was not as hot as I prefer, but well made.
We were on vacation and this place was recommended. The sushi was creative, fresh and is a lovely location. Staff were fun and attentive. This is one of the best sushi places I have been.
Despite unexpected road works that delayed us by an hour and a half, the staff was still able to give a great table and make our anniversary special.
All finding are great options
Food is magificent and worth the cost for special occasions.
We love this place on many levels…. it is amazing! We love introducing other people to it often.
Great find and had a good meal.
We celebrated joint birthdays at a wonderful lunch. The staff intuited our birthdays and brought delicious gelatos. The bento box lunch is always a favorite for me. Delightful experience
wonderful as always
Sushi Ran continues to maintain the highest levels of food quality and service. Owner, Yoshi, is ever-present greeting guests and visiting table side. Yoshi's presence seems to be key to the smooth running, relaxed yet professional atmosphere and over the years we have noticed that there is very little turnover of staff. Servers, hosts, kitchen staff and other team members tend to stay on board with pride and enthusiasm, knowledge and professionalism. We always leave feeling we got real value for money spent.
Staff courteous, clean, food great, presentation great, ambience great!
We've eaten here occasionally for 20 years, used to love the food, something isn't working here anymore, is it that their owner is now at their new resturant and not watching quality here in Sausalito?
Great food, amazing tastes, perfect cooked fish, nice beverages selection, superb service
Another perfect meal at the Sushi Ran Bar - thank you for fitting us in!
This restaurant was recommended to us by a friend so we came with a reasonably high expectation. The food was good but not outstanding - certainly did not match up to their price tags. The fish was reasonably fresh, but we have had better at other restaurants. The dessert was excellent and the sampler offered a good selection. The waitress was friendly and knowledgeable. However, the guy who showed us to our table insisted that we sit at the table next to the door, but we were only the second party to arrive for dinner that day (five minutes before our reservation time) and almost the entire restaurant was empty. Don't know what we had done to offend him to deserve such treatment...
My husband LOVES sashimi and he was not disappointed. The chef made personalized dishes for my husband. Every dish was a delightful and beautifully made explosion of flavor!
I've eaten there many times over the years and it's always excellent. It's in my mind without question the best in Marin. Fresh, original, everything is delicious.
Lukewarm soup and lukewarm vegetable entrees. The room felt line a greenhouse, very humid, extraordinarily slow service, and a very long sake list that had us trying the one suggested by the waitress. It was almost undrinkable. I really wanted to live this place. Sadly I’ll never go back
Dinner with grandkids. Great evening!
Lovely evening with my wife celebrating my birthday. As always the restaurant delivered an amazing experience... quality of fish is off the chart.
always fresh and clean. waaay expensive, but clearly worth it because of the care of the food/seafood.
I've been going to Sushi Ran for years, however, over the last few visits, I felt like the food had slipped a bit. This was my first time back in a few years. The food was terrific and overall, the menu was much more affordable than I remember - relative to other high-end restaurants in Marin. I'm looking forward to returning soon. The Ahi Poke roll, the dumplings, and the sake selection are standouts. Skip the halibut entree; it was overdone, although the combination of flavors was good.
Food was delicious. Service was friendly and not overbearing. Quiet and simple ambience. Definitely coming back.
It’s always a great meal with great service. The owner came by to make sure we were enjoying ourselves.
The service went above and beyond. We were checked on by the hostess, our waiter and the owner during our lunch at just the right times. Lunch felt like a special experience rather than just a meal! The food was incredible as always!
Quite simply one of the finest dining experiences in the Bay Area.
The care, selection, creativity and quality of every aspect is tremendous.
After 30 plus years Sushi Ran remains a gem and our favorite dining destination.
As always, the food is delicious & super fresh. Service is fabulous as well. As we’re locals we used to eat there at least 1-2x per month, but it has become so expensive that now it’s just a special treat.
The service is very good. Food is delicious, too. The interior decorations is also good. The presentation is also good. They have vegetarian options.
