Great sushi >amazing tempura >delicate fried tofu/ best soup—- artful and delicious ~but ridiculous prices ! One piece of sushi for the price of two ?
We had a great experience at Sushi Ran. The menu is extensive and so is the wine list. A great spot in Sausalito!
We had the best sushi experience at sushi ran. I would highly recommend sitting at the bar as the front of house chefs are very friendly and entertaining. A unique experience.
The artfulness and finesse, as well as the overall experience of Omakase at the sushi bar has fallen off dramatically since losing Takatoshi. There has been ample time to rebuild but it hasn’t gotten there.
Delicious as always
The sashimi was fresh and tasty; our waitress was friendly, helpful and professional. We ordered six different rolls and only three of them were palatable. What they called seaweed salad was simply a mix of greens; we found no evidence of seaweed salad and my wife simply couldn’t eat it. It was that bad. As far as ambience is concerned, a child played games on his iPad at full volume for better than 15 minutes and no one said anything to he or his family. We went there on advice of friends for my wife’s birthday; we won’t go back. Too bad.
Outdoor seats with my doggy...that is a must!! Happy to know that one of the best sushi place in Bay Area offers that!
Tender sushi, a few innovative dishes, nice enough people. Not quite worth the prices, however.
There for lunch for the 1st time,
Food good as always,
BUT no Owner Yoshi there,
Most staff speak better Espanol than English,
Our Sushi chef was only Japanese Speaker in sight,
Price for nigiri Sushi PER piece, so about 2x price others,
Other prices reasonable.
Latino sushi chef & most staff a sad thing at once unique & top-rated Japanese restaurant...
It was our Anniversary and it has been awhile since we have been to Sushi Ran, always afraid we couldn’t get in, even as Sausalito residents but we had a great time! Yoshi the owner is gracious and engaging and I had a wonderful conversation with him reminiscing about Kyoto. Thank you Yoshi!
Just ok, was hoping for better.
Went here with my wife for our last meal before flying home to the UK. Quality of the food was great. We had dumplings that really melted in your mouth, sushi and a bento box with sashimi.
Great staff that where attentive without being ontrusive.
We always enjoy the unique cocktails the daily specials and the overall quality of the food
Sushi Ran is my son's favorite restaurant and has become our go-to every time he ventures home. We also love it, especially the interesting drinks.
Our favorite restaurant in Marin!
Excellent and attentive service.
As always, outstanding food and wonderful service make this place a special treat!
Definitely worth a visit. We sat at the sushi bar and ordered a la carte, and everything that Chef Taka prepared was delicious! He did not skimp on portion sizes either, which we appreciated, especially for the price. We thought it was significantly pricier than our favorite sushi places in San Diego of comparable quality, but we felt the quality, taste, and portion sizes justified the price. We also really appreciated that nobody rushed us, and we fully enjoyed the 3.5 hours we spent having our meal.
Yoshi keeps this place at the highest level with impeccable service
Would definitely drive an hour+ to dine here. Came here to celebrate our anniversary. The place is relaxing [we sat in the patio], uses fresh seasonal ingredients in an innovative style, and offers attentive service. Loved the seaweed salad - not your typical - with crunchy little anchovies. The menu has an exquisite selection of raw fish. The kakiage scallop tempura was like no other tempura we've had. A succulent scallop was buried in a nest of vegetables, perfectly fried. Had sashimi and negiri that were combined with fresh ingredients that complemented the fish. Can hardly wait to return!
Food is beautiful and delicious; staff are exceptionally nice and professional.
A regular customer for 2 decades. Definitely not up to usual standards. Cod overdone, sushi and other dishes lacked your magic touc, except for dumplings.
we had a lovely evening at Sushi Ran with exceptional food and drink! Sushi Ran consistently does an excellent job !!
I thought the prices were a bit high and selling sushi individually is ridiculous. I am Japanese and find that so not correct.. too pricey for the food.
It was good but not spectacular enough for me to go back
Best sushi and service in the bay area... Definitely a destination if you're in Sausalito and if not, you should come!! Just to have sushi!!
I've had sushi from top restaurants around the world. Sushi Ran is still my favorite. Get the premium pieces!
Sushi Ran had amazing quality sushi with an extremely helpful and attentive waitstaff. The food came promptly and was absolutely delicious. What a gem!
Hadn’t been back in over 25 years and the sushi is as good or better than I remembered! Definitely deserves its reputation.
Seated promptly. Great service and fantastic food. Always look forward to a special dinner out at Sushi Ran!
It was just all around absolutely delicious sushi!
Really some of the freshest fish I’ve ever tasted!
Everything was perfect!! Delicious as always ♥️
My wife and I have been to Sushi Ran multiple times and our last time was big disappointment. Unfortunately, it was our 25th anniversary dinner. We sat in the covered exterior area. Unfortunately, we were seated next to an extremely loud (i.e., ringing ears loud) party next to us. After about 25 minutes, we told our server that our situation was unbearable and she smiled and did nothing. After another 5 minutes, I called over a busperson and asked if we could move. He immediately accommodated and we moved inside to finish our meal in peace. While I fully understand the challenge of having one customer annoy other customers, I also believe an upscale restaurant should be savvy enough to satisfy all of the involved customers. This server did nothing.
Surprisingly, the food also did not meet our expectations. It was ok, but certainly not at the level we would expect from Sushi Ran. It was a Tuesday night, so maybe the A-Team was off. I will think twice before going back. That's a shame, since Marin has a very short list of top notch restaurants. I considered Sushi Ran to be on that list until Tuesday evening.
Great food, good ambience and friendly staff. Overall, good value for money.
Lovely lunch sitting in the porch in a beautiful day. The soba noodles with seafood was delicious as were the dumplings. Also enjoyed the house sake. Will definitely return.
Always a fan of Shushi Ran for many years. The black cod is still fabulous; the sushi has become average in our experience, but very expensive. Still good, but not exceptional as in the past.
We appreciate the attention to details that are often overlooked at other Sushi restaurants. The choice of the best tasting fish along with the sushi rolls that have the optimal balance of rice, fish, and spices, and the "wasabi" - all clearly separate Sushi Ran from the "other" sushi restaurants. My favorite dishes include the crunchy sushi roll and the creamy scallop roll.
Phenomenal food. Cute ambiance. Great location.
Great location, atmosphere and selection. Good service and value.
