Amazing sushi -- the best around. If you can get a table, go!
Fish quality, seaweed and dessert selection outstanding. The service was outstanding as well.
The food at Sushi Ran restaurant is really good. It's not cheap, but it's worth it.
I was there for dinner last night, and my friend and I ordered Negihama (hamachi & scallions), a Poke Roll (albacore, shies, avocado, red onion, sesame oil, garlic & seven spice), and bowl of miso soup (with white-red miso, tofu, shiitake, wake, and green onion). We got cake and ice cream for dessert. Everything was delicious. I highly recommend this spot. Beware that parking in Sausalito can be difficult, so leave plenty of time to park. There is a paid lot across from the restaurant.
Goes without being said but will say it anyway Sushi Ran is THE best Japanese restaurant in Marin!
The sushi was exceptional, but the miso marinated black cod with pea shoots was phenomenal.
The service was great by all staff and the little touches to say happy anniversary were special.
Five of us got together for some birthday fun. Absolutely delicious food. Great service. Didn’t feel rushed at all. Fantastic experience.
The food was delicious, service was excellent. We preferred the sashimi to the rolls, but everything was fresh and fantastic!
Best Sushi place I've ever been too. Great atmosphere. Pricey but worth it.
Great quality and creativity, excellent ambiance and service.
The scallop maki roll was outstanding, but the nigiri and dumplings were just ok.
The wait staff is very attentive and professional. The highlight of the dinner!
The experience was nice, just nothing very special or unique.
Glad we got the inside seating as it was cold outside . Pleasant servers. I love the Kaiden seafood udon, great unique seafood soup with udon dish I ever have. As for sushi, and la carte dish I love the variety, though be good to see some nee dishes as I dine at Sushi Ran often. I love in Palo Alto but love to make a trip to Sausalito and Sushi Ran every few months.
Consistently impressed by our favorite restaurant in the Bay Area.
Incredible experience, start to finish. They were able to accommodate my girlfriend and me at a special, quiet table as requested. This is always appreciated because I realize that they are shuffling tables a guest's requests, and to know that they made it happen, just tells me that they are paying attention.. Kudos. Everyone was attentive without being overbearing, we had a relaxing and cozy dinner. Everything was exceedingly fresh-tasting, and well-appointed. Appreciate the Japanese whiskey selections.. Thank you for making us feel like we were on vacation. Arigato gozaimasu.
Wonderful service, great heaters in the outdoor area, amazing food!
We showed up for our reservation on time and had to wait 20 minutes for our table to be ready. We kept seeing other people check in and get sat right away so not sure what was happening. When the table was finally ready, it was a high top table behind the host stand in an outside ally so we politely requested a different table. The next table we sat at was still outdoors and this time was under a canopy next to the bathrooms. It had a nice heater so we were ok. Following that our waitress came by and we ordered drinks which came quickly. Then we sat for another 20 minutes without her coming back to take our food order. Since it had then been an hour since our original reservation time, I had to get up and ask one of the 4 employees standing by the host stand to come take our order. I believe the guy that took over our table was a manger and he was nice and brought over some premium sake for us to try. The problem with that was we already had ordered sake and had to drive so we couldn’t drink them both. When we got the bill they still charged us for the sake so we didn’t really feel the restaurant did anything to improve how the experience was going. We are local and have both been here many times and food is great but the service has seemed to really go down. When a reservation is booked in advance and tells you it’s for a birthday, most restaurants would put you inside at a nice table and the host or waitress would at least say happy birthday. Our dining experience was unfortunate and left a bad taste in our mouths so we likely won’t be going back anytime soon.
The food was excellently prepared. The black miso cod was delicious and the scallop roll was excellent!
Food was good but overpriced.
Soba and Udon noodle soups were inferior to the quality we've been used to for many years. Price no longer attractive.
It was my daughter’s birthday lunch. Food was great and they provide us a ice cream with candle!
Delightful outdoors lunch in the rear courtyard. Food terrific as always. We will be back!
The most delicious, perfect and fresh sushi i have ever had in my life…. Better than Japan. It is spendy but for that quality of fish, it is worth it.
Superb sushi and seaweed salad. Only wish we could have ordered everything on the menu.
Excellent sushi. Not inexpensive but worth the money and a monthly visit! The space was outside and still comfortable even in the evenings. The owner made sure we were happy with our sake selection too. Great resto and dining experience!
Overall this is the best sushi bar I've ever been to. They consistently have excellent quality, creative cuisine, from the soup, appetizers, salads, to the sushi, desserts, and even beverages. My only disappointment this time was that there were only three fish items on the menu that were sustainably caught. That is the main reason I come to Sushi Ran and pay higher prices -- the quality of food is my secondary reason. I wish they would go back to making a greater effort to provide more sustainably sourced, non-farmed, fish choices.
Sushi Ran continues to be the prime destination for Japanese food enthusiasts. The creations are inventive and of the highest quality ingredients. My wife and I went here for our 26th anniversary most recently and even in the times of outside covid dining, we had an excellent time.
Very delicious, high quality, fresh sushi. Worth every penny.
My husband and I sat outside at a table for two, well distanced from other diners. The food was excellent, like usual, and the service was attentive without being intrusive. In my opinion this is the best sushi restaurant in Marin County.
Always the best.
Fabulous as always. A sure thing no matter what you order. Service is fantastic with personal attention to your likes and preferences. I love this experience, either in the restaurant or taking out.
We went to Sushi Ran to celebrate my husband's birthday and we had a great time. The fish was fresh and delicious and the Uni from Santa Barbara was the highlight of our dinner!✨ 🎊 🎂 ✨🥂✨🎊✨
Amazing experience. They are the best
The food is excellent!
Very good quality of food. Seating outdoor, under the heat. Kids friendly and staff are very nice. I had reservations at 9 but they give me table at 6:30.
Not a fan. The fish didn't taste fresh. There was no creativity to the rolls. I was shocked at the good reviews. We left with food untouched. Either this gets good reviews because it is the only option in Sausalito or they had a bad night when we were there. Do not recommend.
We love the food at Sushi Ran and we’re grateful that they e remained open and came through the pandemic with a bustling business.
But we felt invisible yesterday afternoon as our server seemed to forget we existed. She took our order (only two of us and not a big order) and then we sat for 70 minutes and watched all the tables around us (diners who came after us) being served and finishing their meals before we had even gotten our food.
I complained to the manager who spoke to her and finally we were served.
Really disappointing experience.
Went to Sushi Ran for my son’s graduation from college and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, he said it was very special. Excellent food, great setting sitting outside and good service. Although a local, I’m glad they reminded us to bring a jacket.
My son’s 20th bday was wonderful! Sushi ran is our go to place for quality sushi. When you want the best you come here either that or fly to Tokyo
If you like or love sushi, this is where you need to go! it is a beautiful drive from San Francisco. It is in the business district in Sausalito with small businesses. And you are guaranteed to be sitting with other sushi lovers!
The portions are generous. The rice is cooked to perfection! I have been going here for a decade and it never feel redundant!
Soup was just okay, sushi rolls were good, chicken dinner was tasty, however thought the food was a bit pricey for the setting. We would eat there again . . .
