Stoney River Steakhouse and Grill - Towson Ratings and Reviews
My first time here and I’ll be back. Very nice menu. My son had a very good filet (and he’s a steak snob), the steak and biscuits were amazing, augratin potato’s were excellent, my wife loved her salmon, and the chicken fingers were even good. Price for 5, with tip and no alcohol, was $160. Very reasonable. I am very impressed.
Delicious food. The ribs and filet were both excellent. Potatoes au gratin were amazing. Seasoning was heavy on the pepper though, for several of the dishes/sides (and I like pepper). Attentive service. Great for a special occasion when you have more money to spend.
Really great time. Took my parents there to celebrate an early Christmas and requested fireside seating. They did sit us by the fire and it was very lovely!! The food was excellent too. My parents had a nice time and commented about going back again. Staff did a great job of making us feel welcome and the service was top notch.
We made reservations for an evening celebration and it did not disappoint! The food was amazing! I think my most memorable moment was our waiter. This young man was spot on, his name is Justin (seek him out he's that good). From the time we were seated and he introduced himself, he was personable, friendly, knowledgeable, and his smile will warm your heart. I spoke with Hunter the manager just to let him know how pleased we were. Yes it's worth the cost and drive!
The food especially the steak salad was good. The kitchen however was mistimed and we had hardly begin our appetizers when the entrees showed up and the staff hurried them onto the table. Barely had room for the plates. The restaurant was half empty due to en early dining time and snowy weather so kitchen should have been better. When we told our waiter about it he commented well that's better then the food taking too long. He should have simply apologized.
Attentive front desk, seated right away. Quiet ambience. Menu offered many choices. Vegetables and salad were overly seasoned-ask for plain if you don’t want lots of salt and dressing. Steak and chicken were tender and flavorful. Waiters were attentive though the bread basket came out with the main course and no tap water was provided. A decent meal out though not perhaps at the ‘Mortons’ level if you are comparing steak houses.
Not worth the price. Three in our party but not one meal was worth the cost of the meal. Food was salty and lesser grade of meat. Prime rib was more fat than meat and the thinnest cut of meat I have every seen. Coffee cured Filet Mignon was not prepared well. The outer layer had a layer of crust that appeared to be coffee flavored and anything but tender. Perhaps this was a technique to lock in the flavor. The salmon was overcooked with a glob of what we think was garlic butter. We asked for sweet tea and lemonade. First serving was correct, refill on the sweet tea not so much. Took some time for the server to return to correct the problem. Also, the person that delivered our food obviously didn't know NOT to reach across the diner's face to serve food to another diner. We had to ask for bread. Once something came out it was reheated rolls that appeared to have been popped in the microwave. Needless to say that was the only bread we received. I almost forgot the appetizers, whisky shrimp and steak rolls, don't believe tbe hype. A $140 meal, plus an 18% tip on that and the only thing I can say is at least the side item button mushrooms weed good.
WILL NOT BE RETURNING ANYTIME SOON! PERHAPS WITH A COMPLIMENTARY MEAL TO ALLOW THEM TO GET IT RIGHT.
I had the Cesar salad as an app, steak and frites for dinner and creme brulee for dessert. My best friend and I wasn't too far from the fire place. The noise level was bearable and our server was extremely nice. Back to the food lol the salad dressing has kind of a kick with the garlic but extremely yummy! I ordered my steak medium and it was absolutely perfect! Creme brulee was so divine I ordered a second one for home. This was my first visit and it was absolutely phenomenal!
Three of use enjoyed a terrific meal. Justin, our server provided excellent service. The steaks were delicious and the mozzarella/tomato appetizer was fresh and tasty. It came with onion straws--loved them. We ordered that and a Caesar salad for three people and it was enough for four or more.
One blip---Justin brought little dinner rolls, which of course, everyone buttered and started to eat. I took one bite and discovered the rolls had cinnamon in them. I'm allergic to cinnamon (yup, I had never heard of it either) and had to make a mad dash to the ladies' room to pop it out of my mouth. It would never occur to me that dinner rolls would have cinnamon in them. Perhaps this is seasonal. I know for the next time.
Our first visit to this restaurant and it did not disappoint! The steaks were prepared and cooked to perfection. Our server—I believe her name was Retna—was wonderful and attentive. After we left the restaurant and was driving home, we realized that my husband had left his birthday card on the table. The restaurant called us and kept the card at the Hostess Stand waiting for our return to retrieve it. Much appreciated!
Me and my man went here because when I use to go they had some good food. We dont eat beef or pork so it was not a good selection for us to eat. They use to have a whole chicken and now they dont even have that anymore. What about the people who dont eat pork and beef.😣😣
Multiple times the food came out incorrect. Probably on the kitchen not wait staff. Our waiter was nice but was handling multiple large groups with little help so we got minimal attention and regularly waited for what we needed. The food was very good.
I got cold rice with my ahi tuna so asked it to be warmed up. They microwaved the whole plate so overcooked the tuna completely. And the spinach. Just to warm up the rice. The waitress did offer to re do the tuna, but my companion was already done eating at that point.
I have been to this location 8 times over the last 5 years and found it to be one of my favorite places to enjoy a well-cooked steak and on-point apps and sides. This visit was no different with the exception that our table of 6 was placed in the front corner near to the reception stand. It was 30-degrees outside and, for some reason, they kept the doors to mall open. These doors are just 20-feet from the doors to the outside. Needless to say, our entire party was cold from the waist down. I spoke to the manager directly about the uncomfortable situation and was told that they never close those doors. That was a lie. Most, if not all of the times, I visited in the past I have had to open those doors to enter. I was told that she would try to turn up the heat but we spent the dinner trying to adjust our coats to cover our laps and legs. Moral of the story: Check your sight lines and ask to move early.
