Steakhouse at Flying Horse
Thank you for a wonderful evening! The drinks, appetizers, soups, salads, entrees and desserts were absolutely yummy!
While this restaurant is beautiful and the service was great...the food was just average and definitely not worth the $$$$$. Thanks goodness we dined on a gift certificate. The dishes were kind of bland and being a vegan I had the cauliflower tbone (only vegan item on the menu) which was mostly tasteless. A cauliflower steak should be seared to perfection as a steak would be and then flavored with spices....this seemed boiled then thrown on a grill for a second. Our salads as well were kind of wilty.
Beautiful but menu definitely needs work!
Wonderful ambiance but disappointed in our dinner. Expensive and not very good. The server , receptionist, bar tender , view were excellent .
Excellent food and even better service. Troy was an exceptional server. The view is gorgeous. Highly recommended.
We had an outstanding dinner. The food was great and service was exceptional.
The Steakhouse is always an awesome experience. Five star food, five star ambience, five star service, and a five star date, my wife of 30 years.
This is a high-end restaurant. The food and service is excellent.
Love the restaurant but love eating casual in the bat, thanks Shawn and Trevor.
Always a great dining experience.
If you like, no, love, great food then you need to eat at Flying Horse Steakhouse. Yes, it’s pricey, but every bite is well worth the cost of a superb meal. Our server Blake was courteous, professional and knowledgeable about the dishes, and the beers! And Blake had answers to our questions before we even asked! Looking forward to returning for another outstanding meal. Want to try happy hour in The Lounge also.
We have dined here before and it was perfect that time. This time, we very specifically told our waitress we wanted to take our time and to pace out our order. 2 people had just started eating their soup and one person just started eating a salad and all of our steaks arrived. We were half finished with our steaks when our sides came out, one of which was not done. They did comp us for the sides but we expect better from this lovely but very costly place. I would still highly recommend this place, they have the most delicious steaks we have ever had in our lives and I tend to prefer fish so a big complement coming from me. Get the bone in ribeye! Hopefully it was just an off night.
My parents weren’t wowed by the food overall. They said they had much better meals at restaurants that were not nearly as expensive, and they have eaten in 4 and 5 star establishments all over the States and Europe.
They said the service was top-notch
Delicious food. Great service from Laura. Servers do such a great job of engaging with our little boy every time we are there. Highly recommend Steakhouse at Flying Horse for a special night!
We loved our meal, the stunning view, and the ambiance. The "extra special" touch was out waiter Troy - he made the experience memorable. He was very gracious when we asked for a photo at the table AND out on the patio, and he noticed when I made an off-handed comment to my partner about "you choose the dessert, you're celebrating" and comped our dessert, which was very sweet and not necessary.
Someone get that man a steak!
Service was slow given the number of diners. We ordered crab cakes - they were bland, bisque was gluey. The old fashioned drink was too sharp with an excess of bitters. But the caesar salad, pear salad and chicken dish were exceptional. We will dine here again but not order appetizers. The comfortable and spectacular setting and views are unrivaled!
We celebrated our anniversary at the Steakhouse at Flying Horse and it was our first time dining there. We were looking for something new and different and we loved it. Most great dining experiences start with a good server and Blake was a great one. He knew the menu well, was very friendly, and was professional. The food was outstanding , especially the filet mignon. The desserts were yummy and too large to finish. Nice, quiet atmosphere and thoroughly enjoyable special dinner, with rose petals on the table for our anniversary.
My mother and I visited and after frequenting the national chain-oriented steak houses, felt that the quality of the prime filet mignon surpassed the competition. She said that it was the best steak that she ever had. This speaks volumes, if you knew her. In my opinion, the glaze, or searing of the steak, in my case, the regular grade filet mignon, lacked pungency; more could have been done to add to the taste of the glaze/patina of the steak, such as either a stronger seasoning, pepper or whiskey, etc. The sauces tried, I felt, could use a little improvement, with the peppercorn sauce being a little runny; somehow, it wasn't clear to us that we were being charged for the sauces. This greatly added to the bill. The house salad was ordinary (lettuce with tiny cheese pieces, no nuts and no pear); it was missing something and probably represented the low spot of the meal, especially after the server's glowing description of it. I would prefer regular butter with warm(er) house bread vs. the cheese butter provided; it was simply too rich when in the presence of heavy red meat, cheese sauces and more. The lobster bisque soup was outstanding and one of the true winners presented. The mushrooms had a nice organic (real) taste and accompanied with their glaze, were devoured. Even the baked potato had a noticeable taste; I find that often, even in fine dining settings, a potato is a potato, and can be rather tasteless. We did not try dessert. The wine list was truly impressive and well priced. If it weren't for the price-value relationship, the surprise charge/s of the sauces, with no mention of their charge by the staff, I would easily provide a 5 star rating for the place. Our bill, with tip, including a bottle of modest (but fine) wine, still came to $222. In retrospect, we would have forfeited the 2 sauces and salad to get the check down to a more manageable level. I would recommend the SFH, but likely steer away from the costly accoutrements.
Really nice atmosphere, and we had a great view of pikes peak with our dinner.
Staff was very knowledgeable on both wine and food selections.
Troy the sommelier on duty, was very knowledgeable on the wine we chose as well as how to pick the appropriate cut of filet.
Prices are a little high, but for a special occasion this is the place to go!
Delicious food! Great service!
What can I say, but wow. I went to the Flying Horse Steakhouse for the first time this past weekend, and I will definitely be returning. Everything about Flying Horse Steakhouse is amazing. The service, the food, the drinks; I could go on and on. Their porterhouse steak is melt in your mouth delicious and their creme brulee has got to one of the best I have ever had. Our server Troy was exceptional. In addition to being a wonderful server, he also is a somnea, which is extremely helpful for pairing wine with both your dinner and dessert. I couldn't have been more happy with the evening. It was absolutely perfect!
Incredible place to eat! Great food, friendly service and awesome views!
The food was excellent, the service was great, and the ambiance was perfect.
Nice place, a little pricey for what you get, but the ambiance is great.
Great food and great waitstaff! A little on the high end for prices, but great taste. We would go there again.
Everything was great except for a date to get Inchin from our server was a little too frequent.
Tables are so close together that if we did have someone seated next to us it would have ruined the experience.
Food was excellent!
We spent the evening here for my birthday and our wedding anniversary, no special touches were made even with this noted on our reservation but the empty table next to us had rose petals scattered around the table. The waiter did not ask us what we were celebrating or even mention that he was aware of us celebrating an occasion. Towards the end of the meal when the dessert came out my husband was singing me happy birthday and our waiter walked up to the table to fill our water and said, " oh, I thought it was just your anniversary ". He did take care of our dessert which was very nice but another steakhouse in town would be my choice for a birthday/anniversary dinner because they do a few extra little touches for certain occasions plus this was not an intimate setting at all. This place would be excellent for a regular date night!
Had an excellent late valentines dinner with my fiancé. The food was delicious and the location was perfect for the occasion. Our server was very attentive and the food was cooked perfectly, the in house butcher definitely makes an incredible difference. I would highly recommend the Steakhouse at Flying Horse for any occasion you might have planned.
The service was great, the food was mediocre. Honest truth
Was a good experience. Beautiful views and delicious food! Would recommend it for a special occasion.
When we made our reservation through open table we let them know it was our anniversary with no expectations of them doing anything special. from the moment we arrived the valet was prompt, welcoming and courteous, The Maitre d greeted us warmly and took our coats and seated us at our table that had rose petals on it in celebration of our 30th anniversary. Our server was amazing, ambiance was incredible since it was a Monday night and not very crowded. The drinks were awesome and wine selection by the glass gave of several good options since my wife and I prefer something different. The food was very good and what we would expect for the money. Great job! We will return for sure.
Very romantic and intimate! Great service and food was phenomenal
Brian was our waiter and the entire staff took great care of us and it was a great experience.
A gem in Colorado Springs. Food was innovative and delicious. Our server Lindsay was the best! Atmosphere was intimate and elegant but also a sports bar was nearby to catch the scores but not to close to distract. Views of the sunset we’re priceless. Check in and Staff and Valet are 5 star service. Can’t wait to go back.
I love lamb and I had the best lamb I've ever had at Flying Horse. The service was great and the food was amazing. What's not to love?
Fletcher was great
The food was okay but not for the price. Service was mediocre and it took a very long time to get each course. Disappointing and will be trying out other steakhouses in the area.
What a beautiful setting! Food and service is outstanding. Highly recommend!
The steak was one of the best i’ve had. Flavorful, with a perfect crust on the outside. Juicy and cooked just how i had asked. The sides are big enough for two people to share. Our waiter was fantastic (unfortunately writing this a few days later and can’t remember his name) He was attentive, informative and very friendly. Ambiance was romantic and the booth seats are incredibly comfortable. Like sitting on a big puffy couch. Everything about the restaurant was perfect, and it was all worth the rather hefty check.
