Meal was so bad that the manager did not charge us. Food was very overpriced, not cooked as requested and meat was inedible. Only good point was that our server was great.

Very good restaurant with nice ambience. Parking was terrible though typical for Boulder. Could use a valet service.

The meal was pretty good, the striped bass was delicious, but my wife felt the crab cakes were dry and not prepared in an appetizing manner. Probably will go back, but not on the top of our list for Boulder restaurants.

Food is pedestrian at best. We sent our scallops back.
Replacement burgers were mediocre. Waitress was very good though.

Disappointing breakfast. Especially the bagel with chive cream cheese. The bagel was soft as if it had been microwaved - outside should be crisp. Cream cheese was plain with dried chives sprinkled on top. This is not chive cream cheese. The chives should be fresh or at least mixed into the cream cheese long before serving.

Service was excellent, menu was fun and varied. Wahoo was overdone. Oysters were yummy, but VERY expensive!

Came here with a few friends for dinner. Apparently it is better for brunch, but we didn’t know that going in. The burgers were over cooked (medium rare looked well done) and the scallop dish came out cold with minimal flavor. Definitely overpriced for the quality of food, and the restaurant was FREEZING cold, and the hostess would not reseat us to a warmer section of the restaurant.

We took advantage of the Boulderado's special overnight rate for active service folks and veterans for the 4th of July.
Had the best dinner ever at Spruce Farm and Fish. The salmon and the prime rib were both wonderful. Topped that off with the chocolate cake and we were in heaven.
Wait staff was so courteous.
A most enjoyable evening.
Thank you so much.

We had the Rocky Mountain trout with wild rice and grilled asparagus. It was excellent. They also had a very nice list of wines by the glass. The interior of this historic hotel is fantastic. It still has a water fountain receiving water from a glacier Boulder owns up in the mountains.

Good value in a very pleasant atmosphere with attentive service. Being able to converse amongst the four of us in a normal voice is so hard to find these days in a restaurant. Quality burgers.

We went for my birthday. Service was extremely slow, and no one seemed to take. All told, we were there for an hour and 45 mins. My husband had ordered a birthday dessert but we didn't have time to have it, as the service was so slow. Had anyone even stopped by and acknowledged it, we would have been better.

Went out for our first Father’s Day Brunch with our newborn. All in all, the food was alright - just a bit bland but still okay. Our issue was with the service...we were asked if we wanted coffee from the very beginning, but then never met again to see if we ever wanted more than the one cup. On top of that first meetup with our server where she also took our drink and food orders, we only saw her one more time when we finally asked for our bill. Someone else delivered our food, and the cocktails we ordered showed up well after our food arrived close to the end of our meal - and I think it was delivered by the bartender of the restaurant likely because the drink was never picked up and delivered. Save the trip - we’ve been going to a different brunch spot each weekend as a new family, but this was the first dud we experienced. Bummer.

Father’s Day Dinner was terrible. Nice bottle of wine was corked. Second choice they were out of and the third option was extremely warm (then told later cooling went out). Ordered salmon dinner and salmon salad and salmon was waaay overcooked (we ordered Med-rare). It took over an hour to receive our food and it was NOT busy at all. Now we know why.... this was our second bad experience here.

5 of us ate there and we all really enjoyed the meal. It's in a historic building with a lot of character, the dining area is quiet and scenic, the food was excellent (and creative), as were the drinks. Our server was very friendly and attentive to boot.

We are big, big fans of Spruce F&F. It’s one of the reasons we love, love Boulder. We bring all our out-of-town guests there. We love Sunday brunch with a spicy Bloody Mary and Verlasso salmon hash. Perfect way to end a big and busy week.

Had dinner here recently with my family, including a 2 year old. Some good and some bad. We were seated in the path of a strong vent, and when we asked to be moved, the hostess was barely able to contain her frustration. It took 1 minute to move 2 other square tables together to accommodate us, and they weren't busy. She resorted to responding to us with "mmm-hmms", apparently afraid she might say something she'd regret if she actually opened her mouth. The other main negative is that between the booths and the extremely bright lighting, it's not exactly optimal ambiance for a (not cheap) Sat night dinner. However, our waitress was great, happily recommending different drinks and dishes, and the food was great as well. That said, with all the great restaurants in Boulder, I'm not sure I'd go out of my way to recommend without a couple changes first...

This was my first time back in a along time, and the server on this night was very good. However, this restaurant and this hotel in general suffer from a lack of courtesy and professionalism on the part of staff members who seem to be poorly trained or just don't care. The hostess who greets you and takes you to your table never says "thank you " or welcomes you with a smile. At breakfast the next morning. the hostess never thanked us for coming, but when we first arrived did inform us that we would have to vacate our table at a set time because of afternoon reservations; no manners or customer service skills at all. The food is average at best and the dining room is cramped and badly in need of some updating, so maybe that management attitude of "just getting by" is consistent with the attitude of the servers. The St. Julien on the other side of downtown is much more professionally run and the servers are extremely well-trained and always courteous. I won't come back to the Boulderado.

Lovely fresh and cleanly prepared and well flavored food without being overly self-conscious. Portions are generous w/o being ridiculous. Spruce Farm and First is a favorite go to place for us when we want to be near the mall for after dinner strolling or going to a show. We asked for a quiet booth and we went early as we prefer being able to hear our dinner companions! I don't know how the noise level is in other locations and other times but i suspect it remains moderate.

Mother’s Day

First off, had I known that the restaurant was in a hotel, I never would have made the reservation (even an iconic hotel such as the Boulderado). Also, it was not clear to me that the hotel actually had a buffet brunch that day (which was sold out). Of the two, that would have been my preference, but my bad for not researching thoroughly before making the reservation, although I feel that the way that OpenTable presented the venue was a bit misleading.

Now on to the meal. We were seated immediately upon arrival (within five minutes of our reservation time) and very soon greeted by our waiter and offered drinks. The Bloody Mary was very good; the Lavender Mimosa not so much. The appetizer was served within minutes of ordering, and the entrees very shortly thereafter. My prime rib hash with eggs was not too hashy, in my opinion. The prime rib was very thinly sliced rather than cubed and not well integrated into the rest of the hash (more like a skillet than a hash). The onions, peppers and potatoes were all good and well seasoned. The eggs were excellent, poached medium-well, which I like. My partner's crepes were good, fresh with a nice sauce; the asparagas were firm and medium sized.

As for service, only one return visit by our waiter (with the requested hot sauce) until it was time for the check. We had to ask another waiter for water refills. Service was mostly efficient but not overly helpful.

All in all, a good dining experience, good value; nothing spectacular.
