Great service trumped average food. We had a tired and hungry teenager with us so we asked to be served quickly. Entrees came fast, which we appreciated. BUT the bison “bolognese” was actually bison chili with some fusili underneath it. Not very good. One of us had brook trout - passable but hardly memorable. Nice wine list but no vintage info and occasionally overpriced. Great local ice cream the highlight of the meal. That said, we really enjoyed seeing the hotel’s spectacular lobby!
Took out of state family to experience the historic ambiance of the Boulderado and the unrivaled service and culinary experience of that s attached restaurant. A wedding was transpiring in the lobby as we dined and it didn’t effect our experience whatsoever. Always a home run at Spruce!
I was really disappointed in the food & beverage list. The food & the bar used to be amazing, but now it's just a mediocre hotel restaurant. In a town that has amazing beer, it's a shame this restaurant only had Boulder Beer on tap...which is absolutely terrible.
Excited to try Spruce Farm and Fish - Disappointed to try and find that the restaurant Needs A Lot of Help! Slow service, less then average food and quality and High Prices.
Shrimp Ceviche served in a frozen glass on a solid ice cube - too cold/frozen to enjoy or taste
Seared Ahi served cold and lost in a medley of vegetables that you could not identify to know what vegetables you were eating.
Prime Rib was thick yet tough, no juice and very bland - only taste that came through was liquid smoke flavor
Service polite yet little to no smile or energy, inexperienced and never checked back on things over three courses.
Stopped in for breakfast— yummy cinnamon bun pancakes!
Breakfast meeting with financial advisor. Perfect setting for it. Good food. I had a soft shell crab egg Benedict. Guest had a big bowl of oatmeal. Wife had eggs and a side of sausage. Tables separated enough for good conversation even though full. Attentive service.
This is the second time I’ve eaten here and it doesn’t disappoint! The menu offers a wide variety that should make everyone happy. A nice selection for gluten free too. I had the pork chop this time and the trout the last time. Both were delicious.
Really enjoyed a family evening and meal out.
Nice restaurant. Friendly staff & good food.
I will eat here again.
Happy hour is terrific, and a bargain. We enjoyed the prime rib sliders and crispy brussels sprouts and cauliflower. When you go at that time, it's not too noisy, and just delightful. Wait staff was helpful and prompt.
We were staying at The Boulderado so we tried the restaurant. It was very nice. My husband loved his prime rib, said it was one of the best he’d ever had. I had the ribeye. It was fine, nothing special. Would recommend and probably return, but I would try something besides the ribeye.
I tried to write a private note to the restaurant. Sorry this survey did not let me.
Sam our wait person was absolutely outstanding! The food was wonderful. Three of us had trout which was prepared perfectly. Two of our guests were vegetarians. Their choices were few. Strange to discover the lack of vegetarian offerings.
Great food! Wonderful happy hour and our server was awesome!
Great food especially the lamb.
Great diverse menu. Nice service.
Food was good quality and well prepared, but not especially creative. (We weren't expecting "creative" so that wasn't a surprise. No molecular gastronomy here, which is fine with us.) Waitperson was well informed about the wine options. Wine menu was fairly broad but some of the prices were over the top. Room sound levels were comfortably low. Air conditioning was a bit aggressive.
Great wide selection for everyone to enjoy. Service by Taylor was great. Ambience, food, and service was perfect!
Prime rib hash was delicious. Great service and nice table. Server was great. Manager came by and checked in on our table.
Best lamb lollipops ever, along with broccolini and fingerling potatoes. Absolutely fantastic
Another great experience. Good food. Good service.
Excellent food, cocktails and service! Beautiful interior.
Very pleasant dining at SpruceFarm and Fish. I have dined here on several occasions, brunch and lunch. Great service, food and atmosphere.
Charming ambiance, great food. Options ranging from savory to healthy. Great service. Recommend.
Wonderful section of Boulder, located in the Boulderado Hotel. The food was excellent. We had the Striped Bass Fish and Chips - delicious. The Trout was perfectly prepared and the Prime Rib was excellent. The Deviled Eggs were outstanding and beautifully presented. A lot of history at the Boulderado Hotel, including the License No. 1 Bar, a must-see.
Great food, service and an awesome location in Boulder!
Salad was very good, Lamb shank was disappointed. Lamb shank was not in a whole piece of cross cut but a small diced pieces. Will love it if it is not cut up meat.
Great room, good service, fair prices. Special setting in the old hotel.
What a beautiful building with so much history! We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner here. The food was very good, the staff was extremely friendly and efficient and the ambience was outstanding. We would return for sure!
The food and ambiance are great. No problem having a conversation without yelling which seems to be rare these days. The wine list although small had both a white and a red that my wife and I enjoyed. We also discovered on the Friday night we were there there was a Jazz Trio playing in the hotel lounge that was very good. We will be back!!
Spruce F & F has a widely varied menu, and our group took advantage of that. All of the food was terrific. The atmosphere and service were terrific. Highly recommended.
The drinks on the sidewalk table were great and dinner in th restaurant was great. Nice decor. Great food wonderful service
Spruce Farm and Fish is a lovely restaurant in the Hotel Boulderado but it’s much better than typical hotel restaurants. Great ambience, very extensive and varied menu and efficient service. Located on the Pearl Street mall in Boulder, perfect for an after dinner stroll!
Broccoli and Brussels Sprouts was delicious as was the burger and salad. Quiet during lunch time.
We enjoyed our meal and the restaurant very much.
We enjoyed Spruce Farm, located on the first floor of the Hotel Boulderado. The food was excellent from start to finish. Our service was a little spottier - starting out very weak (we waited nearly 10 minutes for our waiter to acknowledge us) but it improved throughout the course of the meal. We were also seated at a very narrow table, very close to a walkway – not exactly the quiet location I had hoped for and requested since it was our anniversary. That said, the food was absolutely delicious - making up for the challenging service and weak seat location.
Always a pleasure to deal with professionals at this delightful place. The Hotel Boulderado has a real draw here!
We had high hopes for a wonderful dinner before heading to Boulder Theater for a show. The menu was interesting with a wide range of items. The service was slow, and the server said twice "I'll be right with you" and then after about 10 minutes made it to our table. I ordered the $33.00 Halibut over risotto special. I really wanted a protein/veggie high nutrition meal, but did not see a good option. The halibut piece was tiny, 1.5 " x 4.5", which for the price seemed terribly small. The risotto had a lot of beautiful flavors, but it was just too much starch for me. My husband had steak and fries, and he enjoyed his fries, but the steak could have been from Denny's. I tasted his fries and thought they were too old and chewy, but I am spoiled by the fries over at the Southern Sun. For the price, this restaurant does not offer the food and service we prefer. Now we know why there were so many reservation slots available at the last minute on Open Table. Next time, I'll just head to the pub at the Boulderado, instead of the more expensive restaurant.
i love coming here, the food quality, the atmosphere, the quietness, overall a lovely experience
My wife and I enjoyed our evening! The mussels and the steak and fries were delicious. The gluten free bread was amazing. The service, the ambience the value and quality of the food was wonderful. Thank you!
Tasty well-priced dinner with GF options. Quiet sitting on the "porch" area.
