This was our last night in LA and we had a wonderful wonderful experience! The spacious outside dining room had great ambiance. We started with the famous salmon pizza, i loved the perfectly crispy dough, and was amazed at the thick white asparagus which was perfectly done traditional European style. The lobster risotto was perfectly done with a touch of yuzu. We were amazed at all the dishes’ seasoning being not heacy and perfectly light. The veal was also beautifully light and grilled to perfection. It wasn’t drenched in oil seen like in many other restaurants. We are amazed the restaurant is able to handle the voluminous a la carte menu with such care and grace, kudos to the staff and chefs for handling the all the regular and seasonal menu. Thank you to our main server and the assistant server was great, he offered to show us around the kitchen and restaurant after our meal!

Jazmine was our server , she’s so nice and she knows everything about the menu , very accommodating and answered all our questions with ease and enthusiasm . She’s a keeper !!

It was definitely not as good as it’s been in the past. Very disappointed that I will probably not be going back to one of the special occasion restaurants on my list. Too expensive for just okay food. There are many others that can replace this one on the list. I also will no longer recommend it to out of town guests. For example, I ordered a hearts of palm dish with radishes. It was just thinly cut radishes with three tiny pieces of hearts of palm. They weren’t even round pieces of hearts of palm but very very tiny pieces. The crab risotto was not delicate. It smelled fishy and tasted bland. I can’t believe they charge $22.00 or $24.00 for a bread basket that isn’t even as good as the basket you used to get for free in the past. I could go on but I think you get the idea.

We celebrated Mother’s Day at Spago. $175 for a 3-course meal is so worth it. Our party of 4 chose different appetizers/entrees and they were all good but most esp the soft crab. Serving size was just right. We liked that it was ‘outdoors’. A lot of people but it was not too loud. Our overall experience was great. We will be back for sure! Hoping to meet Wolfgang Puck next time.
