amazing as always! brought our friends who had never been there (so they could experience chef george's talent before he leaves!) and they are already planning on coming back again!
Wouldn't go to Durango and not eat at Sow's Ear! It's a favorite! We eat there several times when we are there if we can.
Exceptional food and service at Valentine's dinner (or any other time for that matter).
We have been very fortunate to dine at Sow’s Ear. My wife had Petite Filet while I had perhaps the best Rib Eye steak ever. We’ve never had anything other than a superior dining experience there—ever. We were heartbroken to learn that there will a change of ownership on March 31. We will hope whomever assumes the job of attempting to maintain the reputation and clientele, that they are up to it. Sow’s Ear has been on the higher echelon of dining in a town where we have so many quality dining houses. Thanks for the memories, and we hope for the best. Get up there before it is too late.
We are all hoping that new ownership won’t be some genius who has a better idea for another pizza parlor. We are all pretty sure we’ve already seen all those options before.
Sow's Ear Valentine's Day dinner was impeccable and Crissy and staff never disappoint!!
Excellent food and service! Hands down one of the best Durango restaurants.
We had a reservation for 7pm but unfortunately the table before us didn't leave until almost 8. We had three kids with us so by the time we got seated they were pretty exhausted and hungry. I would have thought the restaurant would have a better handle on seating times and if not then would offer to bring appetizers to the kids at a minimum. When we finally got seated it took forever to get our meals and a number of the orders were wrong by the time they finally arrived. It was a bit frustrating because it is not inexpensive dining but the attitude by the wait staff was pretty lacking in concern and overall the establishment didn't seem to care about our wait or the mistakes in our orders. The food was good but if it weren't for the location and proximity to where we were staying I would not opt to go again. They need to step it up in terms of service.
We were staying at the Purgatory resort and this is the best dining close to the resort. The menu had a great variety. The specialty is beef however we had the salmon and it was very good as well. The salads, beet and spinach, were also very good. There restrarant wasn't busy the night we were there but we couldn't get reservations earlier in our stay so make reservations early. The service was also very good and the noise level was low so it was easy to have a conversation.
We overheard the bartender say two waiters had called in sick, leaving only one waitress for the whole place. We had reservations, but were seated 25 minutes late. After being seated we ordered drinks and our meals. My salad came out 30 minutes later, but not my wife’s or our drinks. After 10 more minutes I got up and found our waitress letting her know we were missing a salad. Five minutes later she brought out a salad, it was the wrong kind. My wife was scared to send it back. A total of one hour passed from ordering the meal before it was actually delivered. Our drinks finally arrived a few minutes after our meal. The food was very good, just not a good night on service. Waitress was nice, just overwhelmed. I suggest the hostess let guests know ahead of time when similar situations occur. A complimentary drink, appetizer, or dessert would have been a good way for the restaurant to say to the patrons “we are sorry about the inconvenience and want to try and make-up for it by giving you...!”
Service was so bad that we couldn’t enjoy the food (which was good). 40 minutes before we had the drinks and went on from there.
