This is my go to place for lunch and dinner. Fabulous ribs, trout, French dip and sushi. Great cosmos and gin drinks.
Our favorite restaurant, we try to go once a week! Something for everyone, not to mention the service is impeccable.
I take clients here all the time.
The service and food is consistently excellent.
This restaurant is never a disappointment.
Great overall dining experience. There were not any negatives.
The food was great and the service was attentive. We were there to avoid the inaugural and drink! We had a good time.
Wonderful menu and food. Great vibrant atmosphere.
Good, standard American fare. The food is consistent, service usually professional, if not warm.
Consistent great food, excellent service, terrific martini (they bring you a new cold glass halfway through).
Our waitress, Alex, as always, provided us with superior service. When we arrived she asked, "The usual?" And after we answered, "Yes, please, " she repeated our usual order just to make certain she had everything right.
I usually ignore opportunities to write a review, however, with Gulfstream closing I was hoping that South Beverly could be my new go to restaurant. Unfortunately the management philosophy is not the same as Gulfstream which was always accommodating and wonderful. Two examples: 1. My adult daughter is a very picky eater, and her go to meal is a grilled cheese sandwich--South Beverly refuses to serve anyone over 12 the grilled cheese sandwich, even though they can make it for those under 12, and even though I offered to pay for whatever adult price they wanted to charge. 2. At the last minute my friend's husband could join us, they refused to allow him to sit with us at our table, even though he could have been accommodated. It is really too bad. I will say the waiter was wonderful in the second situation, and it was clear that it was "managements" decision. Although the food is generally good, the rigid attitude leaves a bad taste in your mouth.
Love this restaurant and it is a must every time I visit my family in LA. Not sure why I didn't get my points though?
This is one of those easy go to restaurants with excellent food and great service. The fact that they are now on Open Table is an added plus. Always a good meal.
I think they have best NY Strip Steak in LA, as well as their weekend Dover Sole.
Shame this place is resting on its laurels and thus sliding downhill. Service occasional at best and food a real disappointment, based on prior visits.
I love this place. I always love the food and the service is spectacular. One of my top three favorite restaurants.
Another Hillstone establishment that does not cease to amaze.
Fancy steakhouse feel without fussy tablecloths and formality. Stellar service and delicious "not scary" ingredient food. Plenty of yummy things to try and traditional favorites.
The food here is consistently delicious and the service is always excellent. They have the best burger in town and the Chicken salad with lime vinaigrette and peanut sauce is divine.
We came for a business dinner because we know what we are going to get: good food, good drinks and good service for a reasonable amount of money. And that is what we got. Absolutely no complaints.
Service was excellent, but almost too much so.
Felt rushed. Server aggressive in getting our order and in removing plates before everyone was finished (pet peeve). It was later in the lunch hour and not that busy so not sure what all the rush was about. Food is always great...
Our waitress, Alex, as usual was superior and satisfied our every needs.
Not the cheapest but dependably tasty food and great folks in a lively but comfortable and conversation-friendly atmosphere. We come here at least once a week.
The Thai beef/mango/avocado salad is an amazing creation. We go to South Beverly Grill for it at least once or twice a week.
Predictable service and quality as always
Food is always very tasty here. The wait was longer than expected and the maitre 'd comped our first round of drinks as a thank you - that was above and beyond. Look forward to my next tasty meal here!
My husband and I were seated promptly because we had a reservation. We had a wonderful salad with interesting vegetables in it. The salmon I ordered might be the best I've ever had. It was moist and deliciously flavored, as was the chard. (I'd love the recipe for that!) My husband ordered the trout because the server said it was rubbed with cajun spices and had a little kick to it, which my husband thought barely registered in the taste. He liked my salmon much better. All in all, the service was very good, although my husband's expresso at the end of the meal was brought out about 5 minutes before mine. South Beverly Grill is a good choice for dinner and we will continue to go there.
Always good. However server brought our entrees out way too soon, they should pave the service better. This happened to us before
Our waitress, Christina, was extremely attentive. She couldn't do enough for us.
Our waitress, Alex, was very, very attentive. She couldn't do enough to make our visit pleasant.
I'm about as big of a proponent of the Hillstone group of restaurants that one can find, so admittedly, I'm a bit biased in my opinion (I should start charging for recommending them so often). I have been to many of their different sister restaurants and when traveling, I always check to see if there is one nearby (they have quite a few locations all over the US). All of their locations are a little different and each one tries to retain a certain local feel and flavor, yet all maintain the excellent service and consistent cuisine one expects. The scene, no matter which Hillstone restaurant you choose is bound to have a vibrant bar scene, jazz or other ambient-lounge-like music overhead, sexy decor, and a good looking crowd. The South Beverly Grill is no different. The SBG does differ from other Hillstone spots in their attempt to incorporate some sushi and Japanese dishes on their otherwise casual yet upscale, American fare menu. I plan on going back in a heartbeat. For business lunches, solo diners at the bar, a spontaneous date night, a great meal after a round of golf, family/friends get together, or wearing a suit/tie for post-work happy hour, you will always feel right at home in this place.
The ribs were advertised as the meat "falls of the bone". And that's exactly what they did!
Mia is always such a gracious hostess. And Rebecca was my excellent server.
But the Thai beef/mango salad is the best salad I have ever had in my life. I come here at least twice a week for it!
It was a first time visit for 2 of us and the experience including service and food were exceptional!
I always enjoy having dinner at South Beverly Grill. The food is delicious!
Menu has something for everyone,-- a diverse and well thought out menu. High energy vibe and terrific service makes this a definite "keeper."
This restaurant has a first class staff, not to mention delicious food, great atmosphere and convenient Beverly Hills location. Beverly Hills would be lost without this restaurant and so would I.
I've been going to a "Houston's" restaurant with their various names for 30 years. They have a reputation of being consistently good. I will however say that my last two visits to the South Beverly grill have been mediocre at best. I ordered the Thai jungle salad it came over dressed and quite honestly looking like a truck hit hit it prior to it being delivered to our table. It was a mishmash of noodles under cooked fillet and mint leaves and some other kind of lettuce that I did not recognize but there wasn't very much of it anyway. My lunch companion ordered the short rib but did not want the mashed potatoes. He was told and no one certain terms that the chef would not serve it to him that way. So we asked that they just bring the mashed potatoes on the side. They would not do that either. The dish comes as the dish comes and that is how we serve it we were told. So he went for the burger.
We were also rushed through the entire process. When you take your last bite I believe that the employees are told to just start circling around your table and staring at it because that's exactly what happened to us. We had at least four people walk by our table staring at it after we had eaten our last bite and we were handed the check without asking if we wanted coffee or dessert. I think I'm kind of done with the whole sub Beverly grill thing.
Always enjoy myself at the So. B. B &G. Service is terrific, ambiance is lively and fun, food is good. Like to see you expand your menu a little.
I love the food but hate the way they rush you in and rush you out.......this time the server tried to take away my plate while I was still eating. Not cool........
